I Got A Title: Lord Of The Time!-Chapter 71: Silia, Egro and Yulan
Chapter 71: Silia, Egro and Yulan
Whoosh!
A silver slash appeared in the air from the sword and instantly sliced the head of the three-meter wolf in two!
"Silia, you did it!" said Yulan, who was standing to the side, as she looked at the silver-haired girl and smiled brightly.
"This isn’t over yet," Silia raised her sword and began delivering dozens of cuts to make absolutely sure the Distorted creature was dead.
After a few minutes, she stopped her actions and sat down on the ground to rest a little.
"Perfect, it worked," a shadow appeared behind her. She looked back and saw Egro, who smiled and handed her some water in a clay vessel.
Silia smiled and thanked him:
"Thanks, you did pretty well yourself with those wooden spears," she took the clay vessel and began drinking from it, pointing at several wooden spears stuck in the large wolf.
Egro chuckled slightly and walked up to the big wolf, pulling out several of the spears. Then he pointed at the head of the three-meter wolf and asked:
"Should I open up its brain myself?" he looked at Yulan and smirked. "Or should she do it? After all, she should learn this too."
Yulan pouted and walked up behind Silia, saying:
"I opened a Distorted creature’s brain last time and didn’t get anything... But when you did it, you got a Low Soul Shard. Doesn’t that show you’re luckier than me?"
Egro sighed.
"If you didn’t want to do it, you could’ve just said so," he approached the wolf’s head and began sticking a spear inside, moving it around to feel for a Low Soul Shard if there was one.
Suddenly, he felt a hard surface as he moved the spear through the wolf’s head.
Egro immediately grinned and bent down to retrieve what was inside.
His hand moved through the brain matter until his fingers brushed against a strange, solid surface that felt crystalline.
"I really am lucky."
He quickly pulled a purple crystal out of the Distorted creature’s head — a Low Soul Shard!
He showed the find to the two beautiful girls and smiled.
"We really got lucky — another Low Soul Shard."
Yulan beamed and said:
"I told you, you’re luckier than me."
Satisfied with the find, Silia pointed at the campfire within the forest and said:
"Place it with the other items. When evening comes, we’ll decide who gets what."
Egro nodded and did as Silia said, placing the Low Soul Shard near the fire, where other items they had collected throughout the day lay.
"I think we’ve got a few hours before night falls."
Silia and Yulan nodded and slowly got up from the ground to hunt for a few more hours in these lands before returning to the fire for a good rest.
...
When the sky turned pitch black and the sun dipped below the horizon, the group returned to their campfire and began cooking a meal of rabbit, safe herbs, and other tasty things they had managed to scavenge from the forest.
"Even though this forest is inside the Dead Lands, there are quite a few resources here. That’s certainly a relief," Egro noted as he bit into a few pieces of cooked rabbit meat and washed it down with boiled water.
Yulan nodded in agreement.
"Definitely. When I first ended up in this forest, I thought I’d go insane... Luckily, after a few days, I met Silia, who helped me and we were able to continue the journey together."
Silia chuckled softly.
"Your face back then was priceless," she sighed and continued, "In the family, I constantly feel pressure and control, but here... it’s like I’ve been freed from those chains."
Egro was surprised, then remembered Lin and his intense hatred toward the Matrix family. He cautiously asked Silia:
"Is one of the Five Families really so cruel to their descendants?"
Silia froze for a moment at Egro’s question but then shook her head and replied:
"No. It’s not cruelty. It’s just that, since I’m the "Flower of the Matrix Family," I’m under such strict control that I feel a lot of pressure... But other members of the family aren’t controlled like that."
Egro nodded, realizing that Lin couldn’t possibly hate the Matrix family just because of something so minor. The reason for his hatred had to run far deeper — and that only made Egro more curious. What could be so serious that it drove his friend to hate his own family?
"But it has its benefits too," Silia smiled.
Yulan raised an eyebrow and guessed:
"A large number of Low Soul Shards, various Distorted items, lots of valuable things, and the unconditional obedience of many people?"
Silia nodded awkwardly.
"Uh... yeah. Those are the main perks of being the "Flower of the Matrix Family." If you so much as want something, it’s immediately brought to you..."
"Honestly, I envy you..." sighed Yulan.
"That’s normal."
Egro looked at the items near the fire and asked:
"Should we divide these now?"
The two girls nodded.
"Today, we got luckier than yesterday," Silia pointed at two purple crystals and continued: "I don’t need Low Soul Shards, so you can each take one."
"I want to take that flask that dropped from the Beast Chest."
Egro and Yulan nodded and each took one Low Soul Shard.
Wasting no time, Egro brought the Low Soul Shard to his forehead and concentrated to absorb the crystal’s special energy. After a few seconds, the crystal began to glow with a bright purple light that felt like a guiding beacon in the surrounding darkness.
As the light slowly faded and the crystal began to shrink, Egro smiled slightly and waited until the Low Soul Shard fully disappeared from his hands and was absorbed by the Title System.
Once the crystal vanished completely, Egro quickly summoned a blue window:
[4/5]
Seeing the number: "4", Egro broke into a bright smile that even Silia and Yulan noticed.
"I just need one more Low Soul Shard to level up my skill to the second level," he said solemnly.
"I’ll have 4 out of 5 now too."
Yulan repeated Egro’s actions exactly and waited for the Title System to fully absorb the unique energy of the Low Soul Shard.
Soon, she summoned a blue window:
[4/5]
She smiled and said:
"Now I just need one more purple crystal to level up my skill to the second level too."
Egro nodded.
"Great, just a few more days of hunting. And our skills will level up again."
He looked at the fire and thought:
"I hope Lin is okay."
