I Got A Title: Lord Of The Time!-Chapter 67: Past — 1
Chapter 67: Past — 1
Darkness.
Gloom.
The air was heavy with humidity, surrounding the dark underground space where only a few electric lamps lit the area just enough for minimal visibility.
Inside a large underground room filled with two-story bunk beds, dozens of exhausted children sat, looking like half-dead people: their clothes were torn, their faces dirty and worn out, and their hands — covered in blood they hadn’t had time to wash off.
In one corner of the room sat a ten-year-old boy with black hair and violet eyes. His face showed lifelessness and exhaustion, and his gaze — empty, as if he were a corpse rather than a living person.
This was Lin.
He sat like a stone statue, showing no signs of life. Just like all the other children here, after brutal battles.
"Bastard!!! Why did you kill Lob!!!" a loud teenage scream rang out from another part of the room.
Many of the children turned to that side and saw a 14-15-year-old teenager lifting another by the neck, shouting at him with tears in his eyes:
"You... Bastard! Damn Unir! We agreed not to kill our own! Why did you kill Lob?!"
Unir calmly looked at the teenager’s face and closed his eyes, speaking in a quiet voice:
"I had to... I had to kill him to survive myself..."
"...No. Traitor... Damn traitor..." the teenager’s face slowly began to distort. He looked at Unir, but now his gaze was entirely different.
Calm acceptance...
And a savage desire to kill!!!
"Do what you want... Zon..." Unir just closed his eyes and felt deep apathy toward everything.
Bang!
Zon, in rage, threw Unir to the ground and looked at the kids behind him, shouting:
"What are you standing there for?! Remember his face! Remember this traitor’s face so you can kill him first next time! Kill him in every way possible! Anyone who spares him — I’ll kill myself!"
All the children nodded obediently in fear, carefully memorizing Unir’s face, planning to kill him in the next fight to gain reputation and raise their status with Zon.
Zon scoffed coldly and left Unir alone, heading to another part of the underground room where his bed was.
Unir continued lying on the floor, staring blankly at the ceiling. The surroundings became mere background to him — he himself was a victim in this scene of hell.
The children and teens returned to their routine.
Some cried quietly, others discussed something, trying to forget everything that had happened just hours ago.
Meanwhile, Lin continued sitting alone, showing no signs of life.
"Where’s John?!" another teenage male voice called out.
But silence.
No one responded to the teen.
"Where is that guy..." he looked at Zon and said, "I’ll go look for him."
Zon scoffed.
"Find him quickly, Jason. He’s the only one in this place you can talk to about different things."
Jason nodded and looked at the many children, who shrank away in fear from his gaze. freeweɓnovēl.coɱ
"John!!! Come out already! Zon’s looking for you!"
He walked between the beds, but couldn’t find the person he was looking for.
"Where’s John?.." He looked around and remembered that John liked to spend time with two kids. He quickly went to where those children slept.
"John!! Come out! Zon’s looking for you!"
But there was no reply.
He frowned and looked around, then saw Lin sitting alone, curled up in a fetal position, staring emotionlessly at the floor.
"Hey, kid, where’s John?" Jason called out to Lin, but got no response.
"I’m talking to you!" he stepped closer to Lin and shouted.
"Damn! I hate kids like you the most!" He raised his hand and slapped Lin.
"I’m asking you, kid! Where’s John?! I know he’s been hanging out with you and that blonde girl lately!"
But Lin didn’t answer.
Veins bulged on Jason’s forehead, and he growled through his teeth:
"You’d better not piss me off, kid... Tell me, where’s John? And that girl, what was her name... Zan, right?"
Hearing the name of the blonde girl — the one he personally killed — Lin’s eyes widened slightly, and he finally looked at Jason.
"Oh? The mute finally learned how to react? Then talk. Where’s John?"
Lin mumbled:
"John... Zan... They’re... dead..." then he collapsed onto the floor and stared at the ceiling with his violet eyes, from which tears streamed down.
Jason’s eyes widened and he asked:
"What?.. John’s dead? But he was strong... How could he die?" He looked at Lin and yelled in a burst of rage: "Who the hell killed him?!"
"Show him to me!!"
"The killer’s dead," Lin simply replied.
Jason was surprised.
"What do you mean dead? Who was it?!"
Lin felt a sting in his heart as he remembered Zan’s face — the killer of John. He slowly closed his eyes and murmured:
"Zan..."
Jason didn’t catch what Lin said, so he snapped:
"Louder! I can’t hear a thing."
"Zan... She killed him, as a traitor, to escape by herself..." Lin started crying even harder and then fell silent.
Jason was shocked.
"What? How could some brat kill strong, charismatic John? And you let it happen?"
"No. I killed her..."
"Ha-ha... Good job... Excellent job, kid! You did a great thing! You killed that bitch and avenged John!" Jason tried to smile, but tears began to form in his eyes.
"Damn it! Damn it! Two deaths! Two of the best people here... Lob, John..."
He turned away from Lin and started walking away.
Lin was left alone.
He lay there like a corpse, not reacting to anything in the outside world.
No one knew how much time passed until he heard a girl’s voice:
"L-Lin... Where’s Zan?"
"Hey, Lin! Where’s Zan? We just recovered from the fight, so we couldn’t come earlier, but we’re here now. Where’s Zan?"
Two teens approached Lin and started questioning him about Zan and where she had gone.
"Aren’t you interested in where John is?.." Lin raised his swollen eyes and asked the two.
The boy scoffed.
"Not at all, I only care about little Zan. Where is she?!"
Lin sighed.
"Zan killed John, and I killed Zan..."
The two stumbled back, shocked by Lin’s words.
"What do you mean killed?" the boy looked at Lin in rage and roared: "She just wanted to leave this place, she was only ten! And you killed her?.."
He approached Lin and easily lifted him by the neck, staring at his empty face in fury.
"So you knew she planned to kill John to escape?.. Why didn’t you tell me?.." Lin wasn’t even surprised when he realized these two knew about Zan’s hidden intentions.
"You! You! You were the one she didn’t fully trust. And you had a strong attachment to John! If she’d told you her plans, you would’ve killed her faster than anyone else!"
Lin smiled slightly.
"Ha-ha... You’re right. I would’ve killed her faster than light if I knew she wanted to kill John... She deserved it..."
"Bastard!!" the boy raised his fist and punched Lin in the face!
"Damn bastard! Zan was like a little sister to me! And you killed her... Now you’ll pay!" He clenched his fist even tighter, nearly drawing blood, and kept punching Lin’s face.
The girl beside him looked around and realized everyone in the room was staring at them. Feeling awkward and seeing Lin’s bloodied face, the girl said:
"Charles... Let’s stop... You can get your revenge in the battles... Zon’s group is watching us. If they find out the truth, then..."
"Shut up! Zan was my anchor, and this bastard unchained her!"
He raised his knee and began beating Lin with it!
Blood...
It was everywhere.
Blood poured from every part of Lin, and he looked at Charles, trying to cover his head with his hands, but Charles quickly pushed them away and kept beating him.
Pain.
Strong.
Very strong.
