I Got A Title: Lord Of The Time!-Chapter 32: Zombie Mode — 2
Chapter 32: Zombie Mode — 2
When the zombies got close, all four of them prepared to either block the attacks or strike first if needed.
"Arrrgh!" A zombie raised its right arm and swung it toward Lin’s head.
"Slow," Lin swiftly and sharply slashed, cutting off the zombie’s arm!
Whoosh!
The zombie’s arm slowly fell to the ground, but Lin wasn’t about to stop there. He made several more slashes, slicing the zombie into several large pieces!
Whoosh!
Whoosh!
After killing his first zombie, Lin slightly smiled and continued slashing — now from different positions and angles.
Five zombies rushed at him, all raising their arms to strike. He simply lifted his katana and with a single slash killed three of them, cutting through their midsections, and kicked the remaining two toward Egro, who swiftly finished them with his spear!
"Too easy. I expected them to be much stronger," Lin continued killing zombies, cutting them into pieces while casually talking with the others.
"Right now they rely on numbers, not quality, but soon their abilities will become so terrifying that defeating even one will be an achievement. Thankfully, we’re all strong — we should survive at least until the third stage of evolution." Egro quickly analyzed and explained to Lin.
"Don’t forget about the zone too," Nal added as he pierced two zombies with his daggers and swiftly withdrew them.
"Yeah. I just checked the map — the zone is still far from us, so there shouldn’t be a problem." Zon spun like a maniac, holding his axe forward and sideways, using it like a spinning saw!
After killing a few more zombies, Nal shouted:
"But I feel like we won’t last much longer. We need to focus on one side and get out of here!"
"I suggest we move toward Boss Lin’s direction — that’s where we were heading originally!"
"I agree," Egro quickly agreed and began shifting toward Lin, holding off the zombies on his side.
"I’ll move too." Zon followed Egro’s lead, shifting toward Lin at a faster pace.
When Nal did the same, all four were ready to advance slowly: Lin and Egro cleared the path ahead, cutting down zombies efficiently with the combination of spear and blade. Meanwhile, Nal and Zon guarded the rear, preventing any zombies from getting close to Lin and Egro. They coordinated smoothly, making it easy to mow down the undead.
The group moved forward actively. At one point, Nal was exhausted and said, panting heavily:
"Ugh... Zon, hold them off for a bit, I need to rest — I’m really tired."
"Damn, why does fatigue here feel exactly like in the real world?" Zon complained slightly but still held the zombies off until he too was exhausted and got replaced by Nal.
"But can our fatigue even compare to Boss Lin’s?" Nal glanced at Lin and murmured.
"Yeah, Boss definitely has it worse than us." Zon nodded and looked at Lin.
Lin was drenched in sweat — every part of his body was soaked as if he had bathed in water. His breathing was heavy and uneven, with hot air pouring out from his mouth, but he kept fighting because if he stopped now, he might never be able to stand again or continue fighting.
All four of them slaughtered zombies by the hundreds until they heard a message from the game system:
[Attention! Attention! Attention!]
[Zombies are getting stronger! They can now jump high and use any part of their body to kill a human!]
[Also, the zone is shrinking! Anyone outside the zone — run into it immediately or you might turn into a zombie!]
[Good luck surviving!]
When this message came, the four’s faces instantly twisted in tension. They poured all their remaining strength into killing as many zombies as possible before being overwhelmed!
"Kill! Kill! Kill!" Lin slashed through everything in his path. He ignored the pain and fatigue, cutting down as many zombies as he could.
Suddenly, one zombie leapt at him and opened its mouth — but before it could touch Lin’s head, it was instantly sliced into countless pieces!
Lin exhaled heavily, his blood-covered face staring at the crazed, jumping zombies ahead. He briefly closed his eyes and opened them again — now showing not fatigue, but pure killing intent.
"Boss is serious now..." Zon glanced at Lin for a moment and then looked at the updated map.
"..."
"We’re outside the zone..." Zon said and stared at the ceiling, already accepting death.
"What? Outside the zone?!" Nal shouted when he heard Zon.
Egro looked at the leaping zombies ahead and calmly said:
"Looks like this is the end for us... Even if we manage to kill these things, we won’t have enough time to reach the zone..."
"Even so, we must keep going." Lin rushed forward, cutting down every zombie in his path.
Whoosh!
One zombie’s head was separated from its body.
Whoosh!
Bam!
Several zombies were slashed at once by Lin, and their body parts hit the ground with loud thuds.
Whoosh!
Another zombie fell.
The four resisted as best they could, killing hundreds of zombies — but they just kept coming. Soon, Nal and Zon were so exhausted they couldn’t move forward. They looked at each other and simultaneously said:
"I’m tired!"
Their faces twisted from exhaustion, and they took their final fighting stances. Nal slowly opened his mouth and barely spoke:
"Boss Lin, go ahead — we can’t anymore!"
Zon added:
"Yeah, Boss Lin. We’re too tired and can’t go any farther with you... So go on! We’ll do everything we can to hold them off and keep them from getting to you!"
Lin looked at them with a blank expression and simply nodded.
"..."
"..."
He nodded to Egro, and they both pushed harder, trying to kill more zombies and escape before the shrinking zone caught up and turned them.
"The one who dies last wins." Nal said quickly and resumed fighting zombies.
Zon nodded.
"Winner gets five pizzas."
Nal laughed.
"Perfect!"
The two fought with renewed strength, using all their skills and abilities. But they couldn’t hold on for long — they were overwhelmed by thousands of zombies.
"Nal... I... I can’t hold on anymore. Looks like you won this time..." Zon lowered his axe for the last time, lifted his head, and looked at the sewer ceiling.
"I shouldn’t have listened to you from the start," he slowly closed his eyes, and his body was instantly swarmed by dozens of zombies, who began devouring him.
Zon was dead.
Nal sighed heavily and tried to hold out as long as his body would allow. Though it had ached for a long time in every possible place, he stood his ground and kept killing zombies.
But a few minutes later, he lost all strength and collapsed.
He smiled and said:
"I’m coming... Zon..." He closed his eyes and was devoured by countless zombies.
Nal was dead.
