I Got a Fake Job at the Academy-Chapter 780
Chapter 780 - Side Story 53: Back to the Original Place (3)
"Ahh. This is boring."
Hermoa Entiro muttered quietly while leaning back against her chair. She was currently forced to come out to the classroom to attend the special class.
Hermoa was not pleased with that fact. It wasn't like she particularly refused other classes, so why should she be forcibly assigned to the special class?
She didn't like the special class system to begin with. She questioned what meaning this class could possibly have when it was assigned almost by force without caring about the students' will.
Until recently, Elisa had taught directly, but being the chancellor, she was busy and soon quit.
So Hermoa had thought this annoying class would end, but that didn't seem to be the case.
The special class had resumed with a new instructor.
'I thought she quit from exhaustion, but did she find someone suitable?'
Honestly speaking, it wasn't that she wasn't curious. Wasn't the special class the one where the chancellor personally carved out time to teach, since other teachers had given up on teaching?
If Elisa had invited someone to teach in her place, the person coming this time must surely be an incredible mage. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮
Could it be that they recruited the great mage Clinton from the imperial court? If not that, then a Lexer-grade mage of equal rank to the chancellor? There were rumors she was classmates with Caroline Monarch, but surely it's not her coming?
Whoever it was, they were far too cost-ineffective to call as an instructor just to teach a mere 6 people.
'In the first place. I'm at least diligently attending other classes. I'm clearly different from those other kids who refuse classes.'
Hermoa's true dissatisfaction lay in the fact that she was grouped together with the other students in this class.
Fighting, openly clashing with teachers, refusing classes, and so on. Children whose talent she acknowledged, but who were unqualified in everything else.
From Hermoa's perspective, they were no different from problem children, cases she never wanted to become close with.
If rumors spread that she was close with such children, it would interfere with her path toward a successful career.
Hermoa's goal was to utilize her talent to become an outstanding mage and live a very successful life.
She was very calculating and power-oriented, but she wasn't ashamed of her goals.
'Whatever the case, I should first check who this special class instructor supposedly taking the position today is.'
While thinking that, the classroom front door opened with a rattle.
Hermoa concentrated all her senses to look at the teacher ascending to the podium. And she couldn't help but open her eyes wide.
'Huh? That person is......'
It was that handsome man who had grasped her talent just by seeing her passing by coincidentally.
She didn't expect that person to be the newly appointed special class teacher. However, Hermoa had questions. At least she knew most of the personal details of famous mages.
Naturally, she had thought that in this teacher's case, a famous person she would know would be appointed.
But in Rudger's case, he wasn't in Hermoa's memory. If he was such a handsome person, she could be certain since there was no way she wouldn't recognize his face the moment she saw it.
Regardless, Rudger, standing on the podium, opened his mouth.
"Nice to meet you. I am teacher Rudger Chelici, who will be newly in charge of the special class."
Rudger? Rudger Chelici? Hermoa rolled that name in her mouth several times. It had a somehow familiar ring to it.
Soon she was able to recall that the name belonged to a teacher who had risen to planning director at Theon three years ago.
'That person?'
She knew about Rudger too. Though she had never seen his face, she had heard the rumors.
That there was a very outstanding educator at Theon. A person so remarkable both externally and internally that he received the respect of countless students.
Of course, the students who had received his teachings at the time had graduated, and Rudger had also quit work due to injury, so that fame no longer continued.
No matter how great a celebrity, if they don't periodically imprint their image, they are forgotten by the public.
In that sense, the fact that Hermoa recalled having heard his name even vaguely proved that he possessed considerable fame.
'Such a person has returned, but still, teaching the special class?'
Hermoa was dissatisfied and worried about that. A person who had a gap of over 3 years, not even teaching ordinary Theon students, but taking charge of their education when they needed to be taught separately for having too outstanding talent.
Whether knowing or not knowing Hermoa's such thoughts, Rudger stood on the podium and examined the students' faces.
"There are few people."
A small murmur accompanying their first meeting. But there was no one present, at least, who didn't hear that voice.
Even though there was no one making noise, the lecture hall itself was basically a spacious area that could easily accommodate at least 50 people.
Nevertheless, that murmur stuck in everyone's ears like an arrow because of the mana contained in the voice.
"Where are the other two?"
Rudger pointed out that there were only four students gathered in the lecture hall.
According to the student roster he received from Elisa, the special class had 6 people. But only 4 had gathered in their seats. That meant two people had skipped class.
"Heh. How about just ignoring those losers?"
The one who replied to those words was a thug-like looking man with short red hair. He was sitting crookedly with his legs up on the desk. Hermoa frowned at the sight of him.
'Carlo. Always so uncultured.'
Carlo. Red hair cut in a sports cut, sharp impression and muscles subtly showing through. He was a student who embodied the typical thug image commonly seen.
Even among students, rumors circulated that before entering here, he had committed wrongdoings somewhere in back alleys.
But his magical talent was real. The fact that he, a commoner who hadn't received proper education, was openly here in the special class was proof of that.
"More importantly, you're the new teacher? Doesn't seem like you're at a level to teach us."
The problem was Carlo's personality. That impudent way of speaking at their first meeting, and that attitude too. He showed no attitude of respect even if the other party was a teacher.
He was especially famous for despising nobles, and the fights he had gotten into since entering Theon already numbered over 8.
He was literally a mad dog obsessed with fighting.
"How about it? Don't you all think the same as me?"
Carlo asked to draw support from those around him, but the other three didn't even reply. As if they didn't want to be involved.
Carlo clicked his tongue at that sight.
"Hey, Robert. What do you think?"
The one whose shoulders flinched at those words was a student far more burly and tall than Carlo.
A cold and cool-looking image and quite tall height too. He was probably bigger than adults, beyond just his peers. But compared to that, his inner self seemed weak-hearted enough that just having his name called by Carlo made his shoulders flinch.
"I, I don't really know."
"Tsk. Being a man without guts. Anyway, we don't know who you are and don't really want to listen to class, so just gloss over it."
Rudger stared intently at Carlo who was speaking to him boldly. Carlo didn't avoid Rudger's gaze. Rather, he even glared back with a challenging, provocative look.
"Regarding your impudent words and actions, since this is our first meeting, I'll overlook it just this once. What's important right now is finding the two who haven't yet participated in class."
Carlo raised the corners of his mouth, thinking Rudger had gotten scared of him.
"Oh, is that so? But will that be okay? Those two honestly won't be easy for you to find even if you try. They won't be in the dormitory either, and they especially like wandering here and there hiding."
That today's class would probably be ruined if he tried to find those two. Carlo added such words.
Those words sounded annoying but weren't far from wrong. Rudger chuckled at such words from Carlo and answered.
"You don't need to worry. I'll bring them here within 3 minutes."
Carlo frowned. How could he find two class refusers that even other teachers had given up trying to find and bring them here within 3 minutes?
Even if bluffing, shouldn't he bluff somewhat plausibly? Was he trying not to be looked down upon by them in the process?
At that moment, Carlo felt an odd sensation.
'What is it?'
He unconsciously looked around. It was momentary, but it felt like something had swept over his body.
Indeed, Carlo had good instincts. Should one say it's befitting a student with talent?
However, there were two people who reacted more intensely than Carlo.
One was Hermoa.
"Ugh."
She was a student with synesthesia constitution who felt mana as a sensation on her skin. Naturally, she could feel with her skin the mana Rudger subtly spread.
It felt like goosebumps rose all over her body and her fine hairs stood on end. Though momentary, Hermoa felt the illusion that she had plopped into the deep ocean and come back to land.
There was a student who reacted as intensely as such a Hermoa.
It was the student who had been lying down sleeping the whole time.
The moment Rudger spread his mana, she reacted faster than anyone. She suddenly raised her lowered body and looked at Rudger with round eyes.
Rudger saw, along with her gaze, the elongated ears sticking out between her dark brown hair.
'Indeed. Everyone gathered here noticed and showed reactions in their own way. Their talent is certainly outstanding.'
The elf student, Elmara Poale. He knew her personal information too, but right now, finding the two students who hadn't appeared for class was priority.
What Rudger had just done was simple. He scattered his mana as thinly and widely as possible and very extensively at that.
The range he scattered his mana was throughout all of Theon. It was so wide that it completely covered that vast land built on property made quite far from the city.
Simultaneously, Rudger coordinated all the scattered mana and specified the location of the two students in his memory within it.
Finding them wasn't difficult. In the first place, unless they hid underground or shot up into the sky, if they were within Theon, they couldn't escape his grasp.
Whooooong.
Mana began gathering on both sides of Rudger standing on the podium.
The mana that started taking on a blue hue as its density gradually increased gathered in the air and took the form of a vortex.
The students could only watch that scene with their mouths closed.
The vortex of mana in the form of a fiercely rotating galactic spiral soon became stained with black shadows from the center.
Before long, the vortex of mana turned pitch black, then suddenly spat out two people from its center.
Two students who plopped down on the floor from falling from a place with a slight height difference.
One was a white-haired disheveled boy wearing glasses with such high prescription that his eyes couldn't be seen.
The other was an albino girl who emitted a faintly glowing light by herself and looked 4-5 years younger than her peers.
When the two people who had been refusing class and hiding somewhere suddenly appeared from thin air, the students all looked surprised.
The same was true for the two students who had been forcibly spatially moved to the lecture hall by Rudger. They couldn't understand at all why they had come here or through what process they had come.
"Wh, what is this."
When everyone was flustered, Rudger, who had collected all the scattered mana, opened his mouth.
"You're late for class. Everyone, go sit in your respective seats. Since there are no assigned seats, it doesn't matter if you sit anywhere."
The two class refusers who saw Rudger flinched with surprise and their shoulders trembled.
The student with glasses tried to say something, then firmly closed his mouth and slowly moved his steps to sit in an empty seat.
However, the faintly glowing young girl did not do so. She looked at Rudger with a frightened face, then soon ran toward the door with pattering footsteps.
She seemed to be thinking of running away as fast as possible.
The moment she rattled open the door and went outside.
She ended up entering back inside the lecture hall.
"......?"
The girl who couldn't understand why she couldn't go outside went out through the open door again but ended up entering back inside the lecture hall.
"I do not permit not attending class."
Rudger spoke toward the pure white girl staring intently at him.
"Go sit in an appropriate seat. We need to start class."
