I Go to the High Seas for Fishing But Get Hunted by an Aircraft Carrier-Chapter 350: Variety Show
Chapter 350: Chapter 350: Variety Show
After the auction ended, Lin Yuru invited Ye Chen to dine at a restaurant.
"Right, Ye Chen, something just came to my mind." Lin Yuru suddenly said to Ye Chen after ordering their meal.
Ye Chen shrugged at her words: "What is it?"
"Hehe." Lin Yuru chuckled, and said mysteriously, "I know someone from a TV station, they are preparing a variety show called ’Fishing Master’."
"The show invites a bunch of people who can fish to gather together and compete in a contest format to crown a champion. Are you interested?"
"Fishing competition?" Ye Chen nodded, "Of course, I am interested."
Previously in the village, he had participated in a fishing competition, but that was in the countryside with limited scale, and the skill level of his opponents varied widely.
Now with such a variety show, he believed that the contestants would be fishing experts from all over the country.
It would definitely be an excellent experience to compete and learn from a group like that.
Seeing Ye Chen agree without hesitation, Lin Yuru said: "Alright, I’ll contact them for you later. Someone will come to find you."
...
About a week after this matter, Ye Chen received a call from the TV station, telling him that the registration was complete, and that the production team would reach out to him.
Half a month later, the reality TV show ’Fishing Master’ began filming today.
Hundreds of contestants all gathered on Fishing Island; this variety show was an elimination format, where each day, ten contestants with the lowest scores would be eliminated.
Ye Chen was confident in the area of fishing. He brought his own fishing gear, followed the production team to the island, and without doing anything else, got ready to start fishing.
Ye Chen picked up the fishing rod, gently placed it into the water, then swung it, the fishing line slowly tightening, the fish struggling gradually, but unable to break free. Ye Chen’s eyes were fixed on the fishing line, constantly mumbling, "Come on, hurry up!"
The person responsible for recording almost burst out laughing at Ye Chen’s words, but seeing his serious expression, they held back their laughter.
Mr. Ye sure is funny, actually coaxing the fish to swim out faster.
He must’ve used this method countless times.
Ye Chen also noticed the person recording was snickering, his face flushed red, he quickly returned his focus to fishing.
"Do you think Ye Chen can make it?" A girl asked the person next to her.
Her name was Li Jiajia, and she just started her sophomore year in college.
"Should be possible, I think Ye Chen looks quite confident," another boy replied.
"I don’t think it’s likely, he hasn’t succeeded for such a long time, how could it suddenly work?" Another boy countered.
"Look, Ye Chen has caught another fish!"
Li Jiajia pointed excitedly towards the sea in front of them, a dark shape emerged from where Ye Chen’s hook was sunk.
Everyone’s eyes widened in disbelief, could he really catch something like that?!
"Look, the fish is struggling less."
"Yeah, it seems Ye Chen’s method is working."
"Ye Chen, keep it up, catch another fish for me!" Li Jiajia shouted.
Ye Chen looked at the fishing rod in his hands, his face full of excitement, finally having caught a fish.
These days Ye Chen had been observing and learning about fishing techniques.
Ye Chen found that fishing was different from other sports; its techniques were more complex and required patience, and it couldn’t be rushed.
So he had been working very hard to learn.
He looked at the fishing rod in his hands, took a deep breath, tossed the rod into the water, and slowly reeled it in, but he still couldn’t pull out any fish, and the fishing bait only floated about three to four centimeters.
"No good, let’s try again." Ye Chen tossed the fishing bait into the sea once more, but again he failed.
For some reason, there was no movement on his fishing rod, which remained silent, making Ye Chen’s expression increasingly grim.
"It’s impossible, I’ve tried so many times already."
Ye Chen was extremely anxious; usually, the fish would struggle violently once they hit the water, but his rod was as if frozen, without any reaction.
He grabbed the rod again, flinging it into the water, and the result was the same—the rod was still silent.
"No, I can’t go on like this!" Ye Chen’s face was flushed with embarrassment.
His rod remained motionless, and he began to suspect that he might have let the fish escape.
With that thought, he gritted his teeth, swung the rod powerfully back towards the shore, but still, there was no movement.
Ye Chen, out of options, picked up the rod, ready to switch to another type of rod.
"Mr. Ye!" Just then, the director responsible for recording came over, looked at his fishing rod, and said, "The rod you were using just now doesn’t work well, maybe try a more reliable one."
"Which type should I switch to?" Ye Chen asked, puzzled.
"I remember in the previous episodes of the show, there was a segment called the ’King of Fishing’ competition."
"There’s a rule in this competition, and that is the fishing bait must be alive, and it also must be the freshest, otherwise the fish simply won’t bite," the director explained.
"I get it!" Ye Chen nodded, "Director, can you show me how to use this new type of rod?"
"Of course, let me teach you." The director said with a slight smile.
The director walked up to Ye Chen and began explaining how to use the fishing rod; Ye Chen listened closely while committing everything to memory.
"Now let me tell you how to use it..."
After explaining, the director left, and Ye Chen, taking the instructions seriously, waited until the director was out of sight before focusing on his own rod.
The director was right; this new type of fishing rod had its own set of intricacies.
The bait must be live earthworms, and they had to be of the finest quality to lure out their potential, to keep them bravely advancing underwater, not giving up on life due to death.
Ye Chen was aiming to catch a Black Sea Bream, a fish that weighed around 20 pounds with a dark golden body that was particularly tasty. The species was also on the fish recipe list, so Ye Chen wanted to give it a shot.
Ye Chen cast his fishing rod into the water, slowly reeled it back, and the fish hook gradually surfaced. fгeewёbnoѵel_cσm
Ye Chen extended his hand towards the rod, yanked it out of the water powerfully, and then submerged it again, making the fishing bait flicker ceaselessly in the water.
"Splash!"
The rod was pulled up from the sea, and a fish emerged from the water. Upon seeing the hook, it immediately lunged towards Ye Chen’s hand, moving so fast it was hard to see.
"Damn! This guy is so fast!" Ye Chen exclaimed in shock.
"Whoosh!"
The fish slipped through Ye Chen’s fingers and dashed toward the shore.
"This guy is really clever!" Ye Chen was surprised but quickly regained his composure.
He picked up the fish hook again, placed it on the rod, and pulled the fish back into the water.
