Chapter 80: The Other Side of the Portal -2-

They walked toward the village through the forest path.

Rosa held onto the back of Eren’s jacket and didn’t let go. Every few meters she would point at something and ask what it was which became irritating for Eren real quick.

He didn’t enjoy being a tour guide as mush as he imagined.

She wasn’t making it easy by the way. Rosa pointed everything like they weren’t a thing in Earth too.

Like a mushroom, a strange bird with three-colored feathers sitting on a branch, a root that moved slightly when they stepped near it or glowing rocks. Usual stuff, right? Eren couldn’t understand why she was so hyped.

"What is that?"

"That’s a tree root."

"It moved."

"They do that sometimes here. The forest has some passive mana, energy, life and so much magical stuff running through it." He made it up completely.

Eren had no idea why it moved but he still acted like he saw the same thing like a thousand times before. But no! It was the first time he saw something like that.

All the other things, I saw them more than once. But moving roots...just what the hell? 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖

"Moving tree roots. Moving. Tree. Roots." She wrote this down on her phone’s notes app like a fieldwork researcher documenting alien life. He almost laughed but still looked at the roots secretly.

They were thick and common looking tree roots you see when the tree is too big and old and its roots got a bit on the dirt level.

As they walked toward to village, strange things vanished completely. At least in Eren’s eyes everything was finally normal again which Rosa would argue the complete opposite.

The first elf they passed was Kelion.

He was sitting in his garden with a clay cup of something that was definitely not water at this hour and one of Oldir’s hand-rolled leaf cigarettes hanging from his lip.

His garden was full of herbs and vegetables and he was talking to his plants for some reason. Every time he drank from that strange clay bottle, a red trail showed up on his lips. It was most likely the new version of fruit vine.

Rosa stopped walking and frozen with this strange scene. A smoking and drinking elf was laying on the ground almost naked attire and talking with plants.

Pretty neat as a first impression..

"That man has pointed ears."

"He’s an elf and he has a name. Kelion. Pretty good man and helped me many times. Really one of the best man you can find as a friend. Don’t judge him with his strange look."

"He’s drinking wine and talking to plants and smoking what I really hope is just tobacco."

"It’s herbal to Oldir. Not exactly tobacco but close enough but I’m just saying his lies at this point."

"Who is Oldir?"

"One of the two oldest woodcutters here. He is also a nice guy."

"I bet he is." She was talking with whispers but she sounded like Rosa was having too much doubts about what she was seeing or hearing.

Kelion noticed them and waved. "Eren! You’re back! And who is this small human?"

Rosa looked at Eren. "What did he say?"

"He welcomed us and asked who you are." He translated while his lips used his human language.

"Tell him I’m your girlfriend. Ex-girlfriend. I don’t know what I am! No-tell him we are lovers and you won’t let them eat me in their magical meals!" She whispered this strange through with clenched teeth.

Eren was happy for a second that she already forgave him for cheating, but at the end of the sentence he was staring at her shameless face with shock.

I guess it is understandable she doesn’t want to be eaten.

Eren waved at Kelion and told him something about a friend visiting.

Kelion squinted at Rosa, then at Eren, then made a face that showed he understood more than what was being told and went back to his wine.

Rosa didn’t understand the elf’s language but she could see his facial expressions and interaction with Eren.

She knew there was something fishy going on.

And that strange fishy thing found them before they even reacted the village center.

Something fast and blurry came through the trees on their left from the west side of the village.

Emily.

She ran toward them at full sprint and Eren barely had time to brace before she hit him.

Her arms locked around his neck and her face buried into his chest and she squeezed with enough force that even his stats couldn’t protect him from the pressure of her embrace and breasts.

She smelled like a dog after the embrace and the leather of her katana strap and something floral in her hair hit Eren while she was hyper moving around them.

It was all familiar and warm and he’d missed her too much.

"I missed y-" She kissed him like there was no tomorrow. It was put on the list of Eren and Emily’s extreme sloppy kisses in an instant.

They didn’t see or care for Rosa for a few second and Eren cut the kiss after feeling Rosa’s small hand in his left palm.

Emily mumbled into his shirt. "You’re back."

"I missed you!"

No I missed you more!" She whispered while completely ignoring Rosa on purpose at this point. "You smell like that other world. Like metal and city."

They whispered some other secret perverted things but Rosa could hear them but didn’t understand it. She was just shocked with that kiss and Eren’s shameless actions while she was there.

Humiliation, jealousy, the urge to kill, anger, and many other emotions arose and vanished in an instant. In the end, all that remained was a feminine jealousy and a desire to possess.

Rosa didn’t care how the female mind should have worked at that moment. Eren was hers, and she wasn’t planning on letting a whore elf steal her lover!

At least, that’s what made sense to Rosa.

Her eyes lingered on Eren’s muscular, towering body and the masculine, powerful aura he exuded.

Seeing him desired so much by another woman and holding his strong hand... sudden urges and emotions bloomed in Rosa that was both frightening and competitive. Thousands of possibilities and fantasies she would never normally consider ran through her mind, as she thought of the most exciting, beautiful, and advantageous scenarios for herself.

But in the end, she was certain of one thing; She shouldn’t break away from Eren.

While a tornado of thoughts and emotions going inside Rosa’s head, Emily looked up at Eren’ face then past him to where Rosa was standing next to them.

Rosa saw Emily for the first time right now.

Her blonde hair, pointed ears and her eyes which were too green to belong a human.

The elven hunting outfit that was made of leather strips and plant fiber woven together in a way that covered the absolute minimum required to function as clothing while being maximally suggestive. Rosa’s jaw tightened when she really found out how mush she was showing from her body.

That clothing was just a suggestion as a clothing than an actual working cloth!

In return, Emily looked at Rosa the way a dog looks at a cat that just walked into its territory. Calm, assessing, not aggressive but absolutely aware of a sudden irritation or attack.

"This is her?" Emily asked Eren in Elvish.

"Yes."

Emily nodded once. She looked at Rosa’s face, then her clothes, then her body, and made a small satisfied expression that was barely visible but absolutely intentional.

She placed her hand on her belly where the pregnancy was still invisible but she knew Rosa knew she did on purpose and the baby was there....It was weird but effective.

"She doesn’t speak our language?"

"No. She didn’t get the system package, even now. Can you try saying something to her to create the same sceneries similar to mine." Eren wanted to try everything before giving up.

Emily said some random things asking personal questions but Rosa didn’t understand and still didn’t get a system message.

"Convenient." Emily’s voice had that specific flatness that meant she was thinking three steps ahead and none of those steps were friendly. She was happy that Rosa wasn’t special like her mate, Eren.

Rosa hurried to catch up and grabbed Eren’s arm. "What did she say at the end?" She wasn’t stupid and could see Emily made a remark there.

"She said welcome."

"She definitely did-not say welcome! Don’t lie to me.."

"That’s just Emily being Emily. Don’t worry, she is the nicest person here and I bet you will be friends real quick."

Rosa didn’t say it but this elf bit*h didn’t look too friendly to her.

They were seeing everything from two different views of points and Rosa didn’t like this village like he did.

She didn’t doubt it was magical but something felt weird around here.
