I Don't Need To Log Out-Chapter 186: Victory Without Rest
"Are you kidding me?! You’re not even on the leaderboard!" Gellard screamed, his voice hoarse with desperation.
The green poison spread rapidly across his body, dark veins pulsing beneath his skin. His fingers twitched as he tried to summon the strength to stand, but his body refused to obey.
Carmen remained silent, watching him with an unreadable expression.
Maria, however, sighed and shook her head. "Are you seriously still talking about that?"
She crossed her arms, her gaze sharp. "What does the leaderboard even matter if you couldn’t fight?"
Gellard gritted his teeth.
"You—"
"Face it," Maria interrupted. "You probably couldn’t even use half your skills properly."
And she was right.
Gellard had been handed an arsenal of skills, but what good would they have been if he couldn’t execute them? He had relied on sheer numbers, believing the Keldars’ gifts would make him invincible.
Yet, here he was—defeated before he had even used a quarter of what he had been given.
He wanted to argue. To deny it.
But his trembling body and fading vision told him otherwise.
---
For a moment, none of them spoke.
The tension from the fight still lingered in their bodies, but as the seconds passed, the realization began to sink in—they had won.
More importantly, they were all still here.
No one had died. No one had been forced out of EVR.
Carole let out a shaky laugh, gripping her staff. "None of us have to log out."
Maria grinned, wiping some dust off her sleeve. "Like I’d ever let that happen."
Evan exhaled, rolling his shoulders. "It’s over, huh?"
June shook her head in disbelief. "Feels almost unreal."

But before the relief could fully settle, their thoughts turned to the others.
Zack, June, and Carole had fought in a different part of the room.
Evan turned toward them, catching Zack’s gaze. They had won their fight too.
Their eyes met for a brief moment—mutual understanding passing between them—before they all gathered together.
Carole looked around. "That’s everyone, right?"
June frowned, her expression darkening. "Not everyone."
A silence fell over the group.
Because they all knew.
Pierre and Lei were still fighting. They also didn’t know where Arlon was.
Evan quickly pulled up his interface and sent a message. "I’ll send them a message."
Seconds passed. No response.
Maria’s expression hardened. "We need to move."
There was no telling how far they had gone. The structure they were in was massive, filled with winding halls and connected chambers.
Pierre and Lei weren’t just fighting any enemies. They were facing Named Monsters.
That meant something entirely different.
Unlike the Demon and Gellard, who would return to their worlds upon death, Named Monsters did not.
Once killed, they were gone.
Their existence would end.
As they started moving through the halls, Carmen found herself thinking about that.
She had hesitated before. She had doubted.
But as they ran, she felt the weight of Pierre and Lei’s fight settling in her chest.
They weren’t fighting to survive.
They were fighting to kill.
To truly end something.
Yet, even as that thought twisted in her mind, she didn’t feel the fear she once had.
Because this was reality now.
She had already made her choice.
And she would stand by it.
Her grip on her staff tightened. No more hesitation.
Evan turned a corner, scanning the next passage. "Still no response."
Even though their jobs were harder, their risk was also lower. In the worst case of scenario, Lei and Pierre would revive.
So, there was nothing serious to be scared about. But they didn’t want to leave the whole job to those two.
They had already understood why Arlon gave everyone their jobs.
Pierre and Lei were the two most ready to kill Named Monsters without having cold feet after Carole and June.
But Carole and June were needed for the Demon, so Pierre and Lei were sent for this mission instead.
Carmen and Evan were sent for Gellard so that they could understand that even if they wouldn’t join, someone else would.
And that someone else wouldn’t always choose the right side, even when they knew the truth.
Of course, the last part was their own thoughts. Even Arlon couldn’t know that...
Maria’s eyes narrowed. "Then we keep going."
Without another word, they pushed forward.
---
"It seems like our side won," Arlon remarked, glancing at the global notification.
There was no mention of Gellard—a Demon in name only—but June had sent him a message confirming that no one had died and that both Demons had been defeated.
Syme, still seated across from him, shifted a chess piece lazily. "Well, looks like you were right."
Arlon rested his chin on his hand, watching the board with mild interest. "So, how long do you want to keep this up?"
Syme smirked. "I should be asking you that."
She tapped a finger against the table. "When will Asef realize what happened here?"
Arlon considered it. "As long as you’re here, he won’t notice anything, right?"
Syme nodded. "Unless he personally comes by chance, no."
"Then let’s continue until morning."
Syme blinked. "Huh? Isn’t that the same as just ending it tonight?"
Arlon leaned back. "Not really. I still have time."
Her brow furrowed. "As far as I know, you saviors need to enter that ’pause time’ thing, don’t you?"
"Don’t worry about it. I’m an exception."
Syme studied him for a moment, then let out a chuckle. "Of course you are."
She moved another piece on the board. "Fine. Then let’s make use of this time. What do you want to know?"
Arlon’s gaze sharpened. "Tell me about the situation on your planet—and why the Keldars are attacking Trion." Enjoy new adventures at novelbuddy
Syme exhaled, folding her arms. "Straight to the point, huh?"
"Would you rather waste time talking about the weather?"
"Honestly? A little." She grinned before shaking her head. "But fine. I’ll tell you what I know. Though, I should warn you—even I don’t have the whole story myself."
Arlon gestured for her to continue. "That’s fine. Let’s start with what you do know."
Syme stared at the chessboard for a moment, as if gathering her thoughts. Her angelic wings shook while she was thinking.
Then, with a small smirk, she leaned forward.
