Chapter 660 -548: Truly Terrifying Magic, it’s Almost Like the Power of a God!_2
Even though Dennis had arranged Wind Protection magic on the shell, it couldn’t withstand such a terrifying storm.
And those undead that were torn apart, their figures were rapidly expanding—this was the necromantic “Corpse Explosion Technique”!
With tens of thousands of undead as a sacrifice, it could wipe out everything around in an instant!
Night Demon Shado was planning to use this wide-range spell to directly crush that extremely fast, annoying thing like a mosquito.
But before the “Corpse Explosion Technique” was fully triggered, a dazzling light illuminated from behind it. Night Demon Shado, who had been sneak attacked by a laser beam earlier, nearly sliced in half, was extremely sensitive to this kind of light and was scared into shivering on the spot, with the “Corpse Explosion Technique” halting.
The light didn’t fade away; instead, it became even brighter, almost turning the whole area into daylight…
A strong sense of crisis rose from within, and Night Demon Shado couldn’t help but turn his head to look back. Everything in his sight was swallowed by the intense light, and, what’s more, a terrifying nuclear blast wave was rapidly spreading this way!
In just a short moment, it would engulf this area as well!
In the face of this life-threatening nuclear explosion, Night Demon Shado made the same decision as Wallock, to run at full speed!
And it was in the same direction that Rafael and the others were escaping toward—even under such perilous circumstances, Night Demon Shado hadn’t forgotten his mission.
As for turning back to offer support? Forget it… Even if the great lich Cecil died, he would just get another boss. As long as he could complete his mission, the master of the undead wouldn’t blame him.
Lydia, situated in the fighter jet, was also affected by the intense light, but she had been prepared and had put on protective goggles in advance. Although her vision was still greatly restricted, her target was huge, the only darkness in an endless brilliance, like a giant target standing there.
So Lydia had a bold idea, to leave this flying behemoth behind!
Being able to fly at supersonic speeds, she was much faster than the spread of the nuclear blast and wasn’t worried about being swallowed by the explosion. Not to mention that the jet was also powered entirely by magic power, eliminating concerns about losing control due to nuclear radiation.
With that in mind, Lydia immediately sprang into action, no longer conserving ammunition, and fired the remaining hundreds of missiles all at once.
The chain of missile rain reappeared, but due to the storm’s interference, the effect was minimal, with hardly one out of ten hitting the target!
Lydia had already pushed the jet’s speed to the limit, charging toward the colossal Night Demon. The flames spewing from the rear of the jet formed conspicuous Mach cones.
“Get lost!” Night Demon Shado let out an enraged roar and heavily swatted at the incoming fighter jet with its huge bat wings.
Lydia concentrated fully, slicing through the storm with the super high speed of the jet and the plasma shield surrounding it, managing to dodge that blow at a very close distance, almost brushing the edge of the Night Demon’s wing.
Then, taking the opportunity, Lydia launched all four missiles, at such a close distance, there was no chance of missing. The first missile hit the Night Demon’s left shoulder blade, while the other three struck its chest and abdomen.
Along with the explosive roar, the fearsome Undying Flame rose. This flame, which could devour all elements and strip electrons, adhered quickly to the Night Demon’s flesh as soon as it erupted.
The fierce flames covered most of its body in an instant.
For Shado, being an undead and a legendary creature, ordinary flames weren’t a cause for fear, but this Undying Flame was clearly different. He could clearly feel his flesh burning, his bones melting, and his blood dissolving…
The huge Night Demon fell from the sky and, amidst furious howls, got swept up in the nuclear blast wave.
Lydia didn’t have the courage to stay any longer, as the blast wave had caught up right behind the jet. If she had delayed even a few seconds, she would have shared the Night Demon’s fate.
On the other side, Rafael and the others were also within the range of the nuclear explosion, but they managed to await the arrival of support and boarded the rescue airship.
The speed of the nuclear blast would slow as its radius expanded. They were three kilometers away from the explosion’s core; with the speed of the airship, escaping was still possible.
“What terrifying magic, it’s just like the power of gods!” Kama, the halfling, stood on the edge of the airship, squinting his eyes, staring at the giant mushroom cloud rising in the distance, and spoke with horror.
In fact, had Rafael not anticipated the situation in advance, using the last of his Magic Power to cast a magic shield around the airship to block the radiation and intense light, his eyes would have been scorched blind by now!
Such a terrifying magic that seemed capable of boiling seas and burning mountains completely exceeded Kama’s understanding. In his heart, he feared that only the god constantly mentioned by the high priest possessed such immense power.
“To be precise, this should be the power of the Sun!” said Rafael with a smile, as if it were not his first time observing a nuclear explosion, so he wasn’t particularly surprised.
Although Sky Vaulting was mighty, it still fell within the realm of legendary magic. He had heard from several council members that only being within a few hundred meters of the nuclear explosion’s center could ensure the death of a legendary being.
However, it would be a devastating blow to creatures below the rank of legends. Rafael felt that if he were within it, even a kilometer away from the center of the explosion, there would be no certainty of survival.
“The Sun?” Maka murmured to himself as he watched the intense light erupting amongst the mountains.
He then recalled what Yoland had said earlier about coming to their rescue and holding off that powerful beast was an alchemical construct called a war machine, whose pilot was a centaur just like him.
“Look, we’re almost there!” exclaimed a male witch excitedly pointing ahead. The valley ahead was where the Space-Time Gate was located!
The prospect of returning to the Magic Kingdom made everyone present somewhat emotional.
They had stayed in a foreign land for three months, the first month and a half of which was tolerable, simply scouting around while subduing a centaur settlement, but the latter half became a torment, with danger lurking every moment, so much so that they had to sleep with one eye open.
Now it was finally over!
The airship sailed at full speed, quickly passing the protective barrier and was swallowed by the surging Space-Time Gate. At the moment of departure, Rafael already saw the tail flames of the war machine approaching rapidly towards them.
Good, it looks like Lydia is safe too… Rafael breathed a sigh of relief as he was sucked into the vortex of time and space.
…
The nuclear explosion lasted for more than an hour before it finally ceased. The mountains that had spread out were now turned into scorched earth. Winter Dragon Wallock rose from the land full of radiation and dust, his right side battered and torn, with no more Magic Power left to repair it.
As for the land where Cecil and Koleen were, nothing was left.
Wallock was relieved that the two had taken the brunt for him; otherwise, he would have been the one facing the onslaught.
But having lost two legends at once, their battle was a total disgrace. The rage of the Lord of the Undead was imminent, and Wallock feared there would be no good coming his way.
Luckily, Wallock soon thought of Cecil as the one in command. What did it have to do with him?
The heart of the skeletal dragon immediately settled, followed by ripples of space-time appearing beside him.
Wallock recognized it as long-range teleportation magic.
Had the great Lord of the Undead already learned of the losses here, and therefore sent a new commander?
Thinking this, Wallock saw a corpse witch emerge from the teleportation. The face was unfamiliar, but Wallock felt a familiar presence emanating from the person.
“Cecil? You’re still alive?” Wallock exclaimed in surprise.
“Damn it… Damn the Moon God and that accursed Moon Priest, I’ll extract your soul and burn it in the lowest, most fragile skeleton!” roared Cecil in fury. If his Life Box had not been placed elsewhere, but carried with him, he would probably be dead by now.
Even so, he could only switch to the body of a corpse witch temporarily, which meant his strength was greatly diminished.
Cecil looked at Wallock coldly. As both sides were about to blame each other, they both fell silent as a terrible pressure suddenly enveloped the skies above the entire mountain range.
The Lord of the Undead had arrived!
