I Contracted All Ancient Divine Artifacts-Chapter 302 - 201: Memory Synchronization
City Lord?
Wedding?
Han Zhan heard this and was slightly startled.
Just then, a familiar voice sounded in his ear.
"Do as he says."
Elder Bing? Han Zhan glanced sideways and indeed saw Elder Bing standing beside him.
He was dressed like a servant just like Han Zhan, except he was carrying a bucket while Han Zhan held a plunger in his hand.
"Yes!"
Han Zhan quickly responded, bowed his head in agreement, and then seized the opportunity to escape with Elder Bing, swiftly heading to a secluded place.
"This is Bai Su's Consciousness World, the deep sea of memories."
"The Spiritual Awareness Pill connects to Bai Su's most traumatic memories; it can't jump directly to a specific memory fragment, but can gradually lead to that time anchor point."
As they walked, Elder Bing continued explaining the reason to Han Zhan.
"What should we do now?"
"Continue synchronizing with her memories. The higher the completion level of memory synchronization, the more likely we are to see the deeper secrets hidden within Bai Su's memories."
Memory synchronization?
Han Zhan looked down at the plunger in his hand, twitching at the corner of his mouth.
"Can't we switch the memory synchronization target?" Han Zhan attempted one last struggle.
Elder Bing looked at him with a slightly gloating expression, his eyes filled with sympathy and relief: "The identities in the Consciousness World are randomly fixed and can't be easily changed, otherwise it will interrupt the memory synchronization process and return to the outside world of consciousness."
Elder Bing patted Han Zhan's shoulder, his tone encouraging: "Come on, young man, this is a test and training for you."
Han Zhan opened his mouth, but before he could say anything, someone nearby noticed them in the corner and scolded:
"Hey, you two, why haven't you started working yet?!"
At this point, Han Zhan noticed that when they were discovered, the entire world seemed to shake violently, as if the world was about to collapse and disappear, ejecting them from the sea of consciousness.
Han Zhan dared not hesitate, clutching the plunger and quickly heading towards the bathroom.
Elder Bing was about to leave as well when the steward who had spoken earlier called him back.
"Wait, where are you going?"
"Fetch... fetch water?" Elder Bing lowered his head to look at the wooden bucket in his hand, uncertainly responding.
"Fetch what water! I told you to go unclog the cesspool, hurry up and get going!"
Elder Bing's face turned instantly dark.
...
Two hours later.
Finally, Elder Bing and Han Zhan were done with their tasks and met again.
It was a rather flavorful meeting.
"Elder Bing, I have an idea."
Han Zhan looked at the hopeless face of Elder Bing and spoke up.
"Since we're in Bai Su's Consciousness World, doesn't that mean everything we're experiencing now are images Bai Su must have seen in her memories?"
"Theoretically, yes." Elder Bing paused, then looked at Han Zhan, "What are you thinking?"
"We can stake out those key figures, gather more crucial clues, rather than staying here scrubbing toilets and unplugging plungers every day."
Han Zhan's words seemed to resonate with Elder Bing.
But he shook his head worriedly.
"Not wise. This is Bai Su's Consciousness World. If anything illogical happens, the memory synchronization will fail, and we won't be able to see the deeper traumatic memories hidden in Bai Su's brain, failing completely."
Elder Bing didn't want to take that risk.
The rewards were tempting, but the risks were too high.
"How could something illogical happen?" Han Zhan couldn't help but ask.
"Elder Bing, do you remember what a servant from your home did on a certain day when they went to town?"
Faced with Han Zhan's question, Elder Bing recalled carefully and shook his head in denial. "I don't remember."
"Exactly! You don't remember what a servant did on a certain day, month, or year. Does Bai Su remember?"
"We're just small people, insignificant small people. Instead of playing the role of a small person here, pursuing that pathetic memory synchronization, why not explore ourselves and discover instead?"
With that, Han Zhan didn't hesitate to pull Elder Bing to leave the City Lord's Mansion.
As soon as they walked out of the City Lord's Mansion, the scene on the street stunned him.
Lively decorations, celebratory characters filling the windows, everywhere adorned in red, blanketing households in Buried Sword City.
Everyone's faces beamed with smiles.
"This is the day before Chen Zhongxia's sudden death; the entire city was busy preparing for his wedding. If this wedding succeeds, it will be a sensational feast in the city."
Seeing this, Elder Bing seemed nostalgic, murmuring.
He no longer opposed Han Zhan's proposal.
The two were swept along by the crowds, heading toward the destination of the surging tide of people.
As Han Zhan observed the scenery along the way, he pondered internally:
In this Memory World, there are three key figures, corresponding to Bai Su, Chen Zhongxia, and Li Tugui. Our starting point was inside the City Lord's Mansion, which is Chen Zhongxia's residence.
We might try to find the other two and see if we can extract any clues from them.
Just as Han Zhan was thinking, the crowd suddenly stopped.
"What's happened?" Han Zhan casually grabbed a passerby and inquired.
"You don't know?" The passerby asked in surprise but didn't dwell on it, continuing, "The leading star of Drunken Spring Building, famous actress Bai Huakui, who is also the future City Lord's wife, Bai Su, is performing her last play today!"
"The entire city wants to go and support and see her."
"Tsk tsk, who would have thought our City Lord, such a hero, would struggle against the charm of a beauty!"
Hearing this, Han Zhan subconsciously glanced at Elder Bing.
Seeing Elder Bing's expression unchanged, he patted the other's shoulder in thanks.
It's like searching for iron shoes in vain only to find it here.
Bai Su is setting up a stage in the busiest market; they can just go and take a look.
What differs is,
The people are there specifically for the performance at the front stage, while Han Zhan's purpose on this trip is to uncover and eavesdrop information from backstage!
"You want to go to the stage to gather information?" Elder Bing saw through Han Zhan's intention.
"I think we need to split up."
"Once you expose yourself in Bai Su's Consciousness World, get kicked out of the memory, and synchronization fails, I can continue to explore, and vice versa."
To mitigate exposure risk, not putting all eggs in one basket is sensible thinking on Elder Bing's part.
After consulting, Han Zhan and Elder Bing decided Elder Bing would return to the City Lord's Mansion to keep inquiring about Chen Zhongxia. Additionally, he'd check if any abnormalities occurred there.
Meanwhile, Han Zhan would start from the stage, seeing if he could find any useful clues.
As he quietly sneaked into the stage, entering the room, Bai Su spoke softly from behind a landscape screen:
"You're here."
