I Cast Forbidden Spells Until the World Breaks-Chapter 99 Seeing the Gap for Yourself
More than a hundred Refinement Stones circled the Singularity Ring. The ring looked like Tom Cat blowing a trumpet, spinning nonstop in absolute chaos.
Bang!
Bang!
Bang!
Every time a Refinement Stone shattered from a failed refinement, Zayne felt a stab of pain in his chest.
No way.
This cannot all fail, right?
His mood felt exactly like being one unit short of a three star five cost in Teamfight Tactics. Every attempt made his heart jump into his throat.
Ten stones. Fifty stones. One hundred stones.
As it became clear that everything might fail, Zayne’s face turned green.
One thousand Refinement Stones, and only one star to show for it. Even veteran unlucky players would pity him and offer a cigarette.
Just when Zayne thought it was completely over, the final two Refinement Stones seemed to sense the despair in his heart.
Their light shone brighter than any stone before, streaking straight toward the Singularity Ring.
As they landed, the ring shook violently, as if some terrifying power was awakening inside it.
Light flowed across the ring. Mysterious runes flickered and pulsed.
Suddenly, a blinding glow erupted from the Singularity Ring.
Then it erupted again.
"What... what the hell?"
Zayne froze. He grabbed the ring and checked it, only to realize that the Singularity Ring had jumped straight to three stars. The spirit bonus had skyrocketed to an outrageous 160 percent.
Zayne was ecstatic. He never expected to sneak through at the very last second.
Sure enough, all in really was a kind of wisdom.
At level 25, his base spirit was 750 points. With the Singularity Ring, his staff, and his other equipment combined, his spirit stat climbed to 3225.
If he activated "Infernal Overdrive" on top of that.
6450 spirit.
Even Zayne himself sucked in a sharp breath at that number.
If he went all out now, any class under level 50 would probably be no match for him.
If he relied on his undying body and dragged things out like he did against Dano, he might even have a shot at killing a level 60 class.
Of course, he still had to watch out for opponents who specialized in sealing or containment skills. If someone focused on suppressing instead of killing him, his immortality would lose much of its value.
"Still, there should be a self destruct type Forbidden Spell."
Zayne pulled out all the skill scrolls he had obtained from the Old Shipyard Port Adventurers Guild and carefully sifted through them, selecting every skill that had the potential to evolve into a self detonating Forbidden Spell.
He tested them one by one.
If he could secure a self destruct Forbidden Spell, then seals, freezes, and restraints would no longer scare him. Worst case, he would just blow himself up.
After repeated attempts, he finally found a suitable skill.
"Exploding Star Shield"
A mage uses their spirit to draw starlight into the body, forming a shield of star energy around themselves.
"Absolute Ascension" activated.
"Exploding Star Shield" has evolved into "Celestial Star Annihilation".
"Forbidden Spell?Celestial Star Annihilation"
The Forbidden Spellcaster burns their soul, drawing in the power of the heavens. When the stellar energy reaches the maximum the body can contain, it detonates completely.
Soft starlight gathered around Zayne, forming chains of light that connected directly to his body.
He could clearly feel the violent and terrifying power of the stars flooding into him.
After just a few seconds, Zayne looked like a blazing star. His body swelled like an overinflated balloon. Under the near transparent skin, blood flow was visible beneath the star glow.
Zayne immediately canceled the spell. If he continued, he would actually explode on the spot.
"About five seconds from activation to detonation."
With this Forbidden Spell secured, Zayne finally relaxed.
Now, if he encountered enemies in the Gate of Apocalypse who wanted to seal him, or if Astrachior himself tried to suppress him, Zayne could detonate on the spot.
The Moonlight Necklace, the three star Singularity Ring, and the tens of thousands of skill scrolls in his storage space were his true confidence for entering the Gate of Apocalypse.
Zayne let out a long breath.
Next, he needed to move around as Zayne, make himself visible, and leave traces behind. That way, if Shadowcaster gained something valuable in the Gate of Apocalypse, no one would suspect him.
Zayne removed the Phantom Visage, changed clothes, and prepared to head to the Ward family.
Aside from Astrachior, the only people he was even remotely familiar with in Old Shipyard Port were Blake and Francis.
He paused when he opened the door.
Standing in the courtyard with her back to him was Nia.
She looked completely different today.
She wore a fitted white dress that fluttered gently in the breeze, like a pristine flower blooming atop a distant peak.
Her black hair flowed down her back like a waterfall. Her fair skin shimmered softly under the moonlight.
Hearing movement behind her, Nia turned around with excitement in her eyes.
She had clearly spent a long time preparing. Even her makeup was perfectly balanced, making her already exquisite features even more captivating.
Nia firmly believed that Shadowcaster’s coldness toward her was because she had been too disheveled the first two times they met. This time, she wanted to change his impression.
"Good evening, Shadowcaster. What a coincidence. Did you come out for some fresh air too?"
She turned shyly, but the moment she saw who was behind her, her expression froze.
"Why is it you?"
Disgust and contempt filled her face without the slightest attempt to hide it. She looked at Zayne as if he were irredeemable trash.
"What are you still doing in my house, you fraud? Did my father not tell you? I have already found Shadowcaster. He is ten thousand times better than you. My father is about to take him as a disciple. Why are you still shamelessly hanging around here?"
"I came back to pack my things. I am leaving."
Zayne had no interest in arguing. He turned and walked away.
"Wait."
Nia stopped him instead.
She already despised Zayne, and after spending two hours dressing up only for Shadowcaster not to see it, while Zayne saw everything first, her anger was boiling over.
She blocked his path and spoke sharply.
"I said it before. I would find the real Shadowcaster and tear off your fake mask. The two of you are worlds apart. One is the bright moon in the sky. The other is filth in the mud. There is no comparison at all."
"And you still dare to impersonate him. Now that Shadowcaster has been found, I will let you see with your own eyes just how big the gap between you and him really is."
