Chapter 749: Chapter 647: How to Assist the European Battlefield

The Guardian Land Ship did not land throughout the entire journey that followed but headed west all the way. It crossed the European part of Lucia into Eastern Europe, then directly over the German territory, arriving at the fleet base stationed in the Ruhr Region of Western Germany.

Since it wasn’t planning to land and supplies were replenished in Stalingrad, plus the fact that Europe isn’t actually very large, the Guardian Land Ship traveled quickly.

Yesterday they were still replenishing in Stalingrad, and today they were almost flying over the Eastern European Defense Line.

"Dr. Chen, up so early today?" The captain, sitting in the captain’s chair on the bridge commanding the ship’s advance, quickly greeted Chen Xin warmly when he saw him walk into the bridge.

It was morning, and although the European region still couldn’t see the sunlight, everyone on the battleship was strictly following the stipulated work and rest schedule.

However, Chen Xin was not a crew member of the ship, so he didn’t need to adhere to the military’s schedule. Thus, the captain was a bit surprised to see him on the bridge so early.

"The soldiers got up too early. Hearing the noise, I just couldn’t stay asleep, so I got up with them." Chen Xin smiled and briefly explained. Then he went to the porthole, looking outside.

Because it was only cruising, the flying altitude of the Guardian Land Ship wasn’t very high. Even looking out from the bridge’s porthole, it was possible to see the ground.

Originally, Chen Xin thought it would be pitch black outside, but to his surprise, the ground below was brightly lit, illuminating the entire land, with a large number of workers and engineering machinery at work.

Chen Xin was stunned for a moment, but quickly reacted and asked the captain, "Are we over the Eastern European Defense Line now?"

"Yes, below is the Eastern European Defense Line under construction. The section we’re looking at should be the Polish segment of the defense line." The captain glanced at the navigation map beside him and explained to Chen Xin.

Hearing what the captain said, Chen Xin picked up a pair of binoculars next to him and looked outside, only to see numerous workers striving on the vast plains below, and the outline of a defense line gradually taking shape.

Watching the busy workers and the roaring machinery below, Chen Xin couldn’t help but remark to the captain beside him, "Building a defense line on the plains is really hard for these Europeans."

"But what other choice is there? The whole of Eastern Europe is a super large plain. Besides building a defense line from the Carpathian Mountains to the Vistula River, there’s nothing else but retreat back to the Central Lucia Hills, which would mean giving up all of Europe." The captain naturally was well aware of this defense line, which currently combined the powers of Lucia and the Flame Country to build, thus he was quite emotional.

In fact, the choice to build the defense line at its current location was indeed a reluctant decision. Most parts of Europe are plain terrains, with the few mountainous areas including the current frontline resisting alien creatures at the Alps, and the other part being around the Carpathian Mountains where the Eastern European Defense Line is now located.

It can be said that if one wants to use terrain advantages to resist alien creatures, these two mountain areas must never be neglected or abandoned.

But unfortunately, the Carpathian Mountains only cover less than half of Europe; the north is still plains, so they can only rely on the Vistula River within Poland as the defensive position.

Looking at the defense line under construction below, Chen Xin sincerely sighed, "I really hope what they’re doing is futile, that this line will never be needed."

"That depends on whether the Europeans can put up a fight this time. If their frontline is broken, humanity will only be able to retreat to this defense line for defense." The captain certainly hoped with all his heart that, like what Chen Xin said, this defense line wouldn’t be needed. But no one could guarantee that European countries could surely withstand the alien creatures’ attack at the front.

Before the Flame Country’s aid to the European countries, they were about to reach their limit.

If it weren’t for the aid from the Flame Country and Lucia, which provided them with a large number of weapons capable of effectively harming alien creatures, and the Aid to Europe Fleet, which provided them with battlefield fire support and reinforcements equipped with Exoskeletons and Electromagnetic Rifles to put out fires along the defense line, probably some parts of the European Defense Line would have been breached by now. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖

Even now, with the Aid to Europe Fleet’s support, the entire defense line still frequently faces crises, requiring the fleet to extinguish fires.

This is one of the reasons why Chen Xin wanted to come to Europe; he hoped to provide some help to the frontline, so this defense line could hold longer.

Not that he hopes this line can completely block the alien creatures’ attack, but at least before the Eastern European Defense Line is completed, and the evacuation of European civilians and population to behind it is done, this European Defense Line cannot collapse.

But speaking is easy; really achieving this is something even Chen Xin doesn’t have a clear plan for.

Even if he really put his mind to it, intending to use the system to upgrade the entire defense line, the European Defense Line, stretching from the coast of the Mediterranean to the Black Sea, is such a huge line that even Chen Xin today doesn’t have the capability to upgrade it entirely.

Moreover, for Chen Xin, reinforcing the defense line would be a tremendous waste of his abilities. It would be much more useful to develop new weapons in the rear to change the situation than strengthening the line and turning the front into a meat grinder.

"Pardon my curiosity, Dr. Chen, how do you plan to help these Europeans this time you come to Europe?" The captain asked Chen Xin out of curiosity.

As for Chen Xin, the captain had heard much about him. Whether it’s this Land Ship he’s now commanding or the Exoskeleton and Protective Suits allocated to the fleet, they all stem from Chen Xin’s research outcomes.

Therefore, what impact this pivotal researcher’s visit to Europe will have on the European Defense Line is a topic not just intriguing to the captain but also becomes the subject of casual talk among the regular crew members on the Land Ship during their free time.

Some think Chen Xin might create a powerful weapon, akin to a nuclear bomb, capable of sweeping the battlefield.

But more people believe Chen Xin will provide strong weapons to the European Defense Line that can be distributed to ordinary soldiers, allowing them to kill more alien creatures and thereby stabilize the defense line.

However, for Chen Xin himself, he doesn’t have any specific ideas or clear concepts, as he hasn’t yet seen the specific situation of the European Defense Line, nor does he understand the battle situation. Even if he wanted to do something, he has no starting point.

Therefore, in response to the captain’s query, Chen Xin could only respond with a wry smile, "Try to enhance the military equipment of the European countries as much as possible, so they won’t be too weak before the alien creatures. Before seeing the battlefield for real, this is all I can think of."
