I can upgrade the shelter-Chapter 742 - 640: Flame Country’s Technology, Shocking and Heart-Stirring
Charlie and Renault left the cafeteria and went outside.
The piercing cold wind was blowing, and if it weren’t for the thick clothes they were wearing and their recent warm lunch, they would have been chilled to the bone in just a few minutes at such a temperature.
However, at this moment, neither of them cared much about the icy snow, as what was descending was truly awe-inspiring, leaving the two seasoned pilots in a state of astonishment with their mouths agape.
"What... what is this?" Charlie asked Renault in a daze: "Weren’t we supposed to receive aircraft? How come it’s a spaceship?"
"I don’t know... I only heard that someone said the people from Flame Country would help send over a batch of aircraft sealed from the Cold War era, but they didn’t say they would use a spaceship to transport them." Renault was equally stunned, knowing new planes were coming but not expecting them to arrive in this manner.
Under their incredulous gaze, a giant land ship descended onto the base’s tarmac.
The officers at the base were also deeply shocked, but they at least remembered what they were supposed to do and approached with the prepared ground crew to welcome the ship.
Standing beneath the towering land ship, looking up at this several-stories-high steel behemoth, they remained incredulous.
Although before the disaster, Flame Country’s industrial strength and infrastructure capabilities had already shocked the world, and nations constantly propagated the Flame Country threat theory, when Flame Country truly produced such a monstrous entity from who-knows-where, they still didn’t know how to react.
"I was just saying, but you actually made something like this?"
In fact, facing the reinforcement fleet composed entirely of land ships sent by Flame Country, the nations of Europe were in an uproar and shock, but amid the shock, they couldn’t help but feel secretly relieved.
At such times, the stronger Flame Country is, the better news it is for every nation, as they are nearly at the breaking point. The arrival of reinforcements from Flame Country gives them a chance to continue holding on.
For Charlie and Renault right now, Flame Country’s cargo land ship, though impressive, couldn’t compare to the dozens of fighter jets being unloaded from the belly of the giant spacecraft.
Because the spaceship belongs to them, and the fighter jets are theirs. These long-sealed fighter jets may be old, but after refurbishment, they can carry them back into battle instead of rotting away at the base.
However, this massive cargo land ship still left Charlie in awe. He couldn’t help but wonder, if this gigantic spaceship had enough firepower, how might it wield immense power on the battlefield. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺
Charlie was just thinking this, but Renault exaggeratedly asked Charlie, "Charlie, why don’t these people from Flame Country just put cannons and missiles on this spaceship and use it to fight the alien creatures? Isn’t this thing more useful than those outdated Cold War fighter jets?"
As ordinary pilots, Renault and Charlie hadn’t been in touch with external information for a long time and naturally did not know that Flame Country had not only sent this cargo land ship but also real warships and carriers.
"They do—not only do they have ships equipped with missiles and cannons, they’ve even built an airborne aircraft carrier." A French officer, who came along with the cargo land ship to deliver goods, seemed to have overheard Renault’s words and approached them, saying, "Are you pilots?"
Renault and Charlie glanced at the rank insignia on the officer’s collar and quickly saluted, "Yes, sir, we are pilots."
The officer nodded slightly, looking at their reasonably spirited appearance with satisfaction, "Keep it up, guys. You’ve actually been doing well. Although our losses are significant, in facing those alien monsters, loss and sacrifice are inevitable.
With this batch of planes, you guys will be able to take to the skies again! Even though they’re old planes, I suppose you won’t mind, will you?"
"No, sir!" Charlie and Renault responded in unison to the officer, but after answering, Charlie couldn’t help but ask, "Sir, may I ask a question?"
"What question?" The officer seemed in good spirits, gesturing for Charlie to speak freely.
Charlie organized his thoughts, glanced at the cargo land ship unloading Cold War-era fighter jets, and couldn’t help but ask the officer quizzically, "Sir, these old planes can indeed be used again, but the gap compared to Flame Country’s spaceship is too wide, isn’t it?
Why not have the people of Flame Country use their spaceship to fight alien creatures? Compared to Flame Country’s spaceship, these old-fashioned fighter jets are practically relics from last century... no, they are relics from last century!"
Seeing Charlie speak out, Renault couldn’t help but chime in, "Yeah, sir! You just said Flame Country not only has ships equipped with cannons and missiles, they’ve even built an airborne aircraft carrier. Why not have them use their spaceship to fight alien creatures instead of us flying these outdated old planes?"
"Do you think we don’t want that?" The officer shook his head helplessly upon hearing the two pilots’ words, "Flame Country sent a whole fleet, including carriers, warships, and large cargo ships like the one you see to transport supplies. Of course, we want them to go to the front to fight the alien monsters, but they refused."
Charlie and Renault were bewildered by the officer’s answer, "Why? The alien invasion concerns all of humanity! Why won’t the people from Flame Country help?"
"Because their fleet serves a more important role! Plus, they also have alien creatures invading their own country." The officer looked at the two, though some biases in his heart felt the people from Flame Country should deploy their fleet to the front, he explained, "Right now, the people from Flame Country are using their airborne aircraft carrier to produce powerful equipment for our front line. Therefore, we can’t have them move their fleet to the front to deal with those alien creatures, so you capable young men need to pilot these Cold War-era old planes to fight those alien monsters."
Charlie and Renault exchanged a glance, seeing the same expression in each other’s eyes.
This prompted Charlie to ask the officer, "Sorry, sir, could we ask what equipment the people from Flame Country are producing? I can’t imagine any equipment stronger than a flying warship."
As Charlie was asking this, a group of soldiers in exoskeleton protective suits, holding electromagnetic rifles, disembarked from the cargo land ship.
"Functional exoskeletons and electromagnetic rifles—the people from Flame Country have even better ones." The officer glanced at the group of soldiers, his eyes showing envy.
Charlie and Renault felt they’d been shocked enough today, as if the world had changed beyond recognition while they were holed up in the base, prompting them to sigh, "What have our scientists been doing?"
