I Can Talk to the Internal Organs-Chapter 34 - 31: Life Depends on Gastric Qi
Acupuncture on the Weizhong Acupoint!
No Qi.
Flying Needle Qi Introduction!
Still doesn’t work.
Continue!
With the Du Meridian blocked, the flow of Yang Qi is obstructed, but that doesn’t mean Qi is absent. As long as a person is alive, there must be Qi circulating in the meridians and acupoints. The inability to induce Qi indicates that the stimulation is insufficient.
After Lu Jiu’s acupuncture on the Weizhong Acupoint, he repeatedly utilized the Flying Needle Qi Introduction technique, continuously stimulating the acupoint.
Facing this type of patient for the first time, Lu Jiu himself didn’t know how long it would take to induce Qi, but he wasn’t particularly anxious while doing it.
As long as the acupoint is correct, the technique is right, and the patient has not lost Qi, achieving Qi is only a matter of time.
Soon, three to four minutes passed. For Qi induction, this was already quite long, but fortunately, effort paid off, and Lu Jiu’s persistent twirling finally showed results.
A circle of pink appeared around the acupoint, which indicated that Qi had been achieved.
Phew~
Next, let’s try the Mountain Burning Fire technique.
Lu Jiu changed his technique, twirling and lifting again.
Lu Mountain stood nearby, carefully observing Lu Jiu’s movements. The Mountain Burning Fire technique was not unfamiliar to him, but he never understood how to grasp the Qi dynamics, which is also the most crucial part of acupuncture.
Lu Mountain had studied it himself but ultimately failed. Now, seeing that Lu Jiu had not only mastered the Mountain Burning Fire technique but was also extremely proficient in it, he felt quite gratified.
The Lu Family lineage has produced many talented individuals over the centuries, but since most of the family’s medical books were destroyed in recent times, no one had surpassed the ancestors in medical skills.
Lu Jiu’s talent made Lu Mountain see the possibility of another genius emerging from the Lu Family lineage.
"Huh?"
Before long, Wang Li, who was lying prone, suddenly turned his head towards Lu Jiu and said, "Dr. Lu, I think I feel some warmth in the bend of my leg."
Lu Jiu smiled and said, "No worries, it’s a normal reaction. Pay attention to this sensation; let me know when the warmth reaches your waist."
"Okay." Wang Li nodded slightly.
It was his first time feeling warmth after acupuncture.
Wang Li very much wanted to turn back to see if Lu Jiu was using fire to roast the needle, but due to his waist, he couldn’t even straighten up, let alone turn his head to look at his leg.
After a while, Wang Li slowly felt the warmth begin climbing up his thigh, soon reaching his waist. The stiffness and pain in his waist quickly disappeared as the warmth flowed there.
Wang Li only felt as if his waist had come back to life, in one word, comfortable!
"Dr. Lu, it’s here, it’s here," Wang Li immediately reminded.
Upon hearing this, Lu Jiu pressed another section of the Weizhong Acupoint, "Now feel where I’m pressing. If it hurts, let me know."
As he spoke, Lu Jiu’s thumb applied gentle pressure.
"Ouch, hissing~~ Right, it hurts more on the right side here," replied Wang Li in pain.
Having pinpointed Wang Li’s tender spot, Lu Jiu swiftly inserted another needle, then continued pressing around the Weizhong Acupoint. As soon as Wang Li mentioned pain, he would insert a needle there.
This approach doesn’t focus on acupoints but uses the patient’s tender spots for needle insertion.
The Weizhong Acupoint corresponds to Wang Li’s waist. The surrounding tender spots are connected to the tender spots in his waist, so as long as his waist pain persists, he will feel pain when pressing around the Weizhong Acupoint.
In traditional Chinese medicine, these locations are known as Ahshi Points!
After a few needles, Wang Li immediately noticed that the tense feeling in his waist muscles had significantly relaxed. It no longer felt like every movement would inevitably pull and tug painfully.
This was an entirely new sensation for him, something he had never experienced in previous treatments, to the point where he even doubted whether it was all just an illusion.
Lu Mountain had also provided him with therapy in the past, but it usually took half an hour to an hour before he felt any relief in his waist, unlike the rapid effect today.
"Uncle, how do you feel now?" Lu Jiu asked.
"Much better, far better than before. Young man, you’re truly skilled, just as expected from a prestigious university graduate!" Wang Li couldn’t help but praise.
"Hehe, as long as it feels good. Now, change your position, and I’ll perform Moxibustion on you," Lu Jiu said as he removed the needles.
Although the Mountain Burning Fire technique is remarkably effective for conditions of deficiency and coldness, it can only provide temporary pain relief for Wang Li’s current situation. Once the Qi dissipates, in a few days, Wang Li will experience waist pain, muscle tension, and discomfort in standing, sitting, lying, and facing down again.
This feeling greatly affects the quality of life and being in constant pain makes it impossible to accomplish anything, leading to depression, anxiety, and even irritability over time.
No way around it, combining life’s difficulties with internal damage, it is truly challenging to maintain emotional stability.
Lu Mountain had previously tried using Chinese herbal medicine, but it didn’t work at all.
So, acupuncture was the only therapeutic approach Lu Jiu could provide now.
Acupuncture had been used to temporarily relieve Wang Li’s pain. The next step was to use Moxibustion to enhance Yang Qi in Wang Li’s body.
This was actually a last-resort method!
Since all of Wang Li’s symptoms stemmed from damage to the Du Meridian causing insufficient Yang Qi, the best approach was first to bolster Yang and stabilize the root.
Because if Yang Qi is not replenished, no matter how Lu Jiu treats Wang Li’s symptoms, it is meaningless. This is a case of not solving the root cause, making all techniques treating only the symptoms but not the root.
Of course, reinforcing Yang and stabilizing the root sounds simple, but it is not easy to execute.
Moxibustion is the best method for reinforcing Yang, but after supporting the Yang, whether it can be retained becomes a complex issue.
Now, Wang Li’s five viscera and six bowels are in a certain degree of disarray. Lu Jiu must ensure that while supporting Yang, this Qi can help the five viscera and six bowels recover slightly but not to the detriment of them. After all, excessive Yang is also harmful.
This is the moment to test a doctor’s comprehensive control over a patient’s internal state, akin to a chef needing precise control over the heat, where food is poorly cooked if the fire is too small, and burnt if the fire is too large.
This is a challenging task, not just for Lu Jiu, but even experienced TCM practitioners dare not easily attempt it.
The root cause was still the surgery Wang Li underwent!
Fortunately, Lu Jiu could directly communicate with Wang Li’s Five Viscera.
Thus, during Moxibustion, Lu Jiu could completely rely on Wang Li’s Five Viscera to determine when to cease the Moxibustion.
Only then can it easily achieve both supporting Yang and stabilizing the root, nourishing the Five Viscera, without causing excess Yang and further harm to the Five Viscera.
A few minutes later, Lu Jiu brought over two slices of ginger and a plate of mugwort molded into cones.
Lu Jiu then sat beside Wang Li, slightly moved his body so he lay on his side, and placed a slice of ginger on the Zusanli Acupoint on Wang Li’s left leg.
The first acupoint he wanted to apply Moxibustion was Zusanli.
This is a longevity acupoint on the human body.
Why is it called a longevity acupoint?
Because frequent Moxibustion on Zusanli ensures the normal generation of gastric Qi.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, there’s a saying: "Where there is gastric Qi, there is life; without gastric Qi, there is death!"
So, when TCM practitioners encounter a patient with no starting point and realize the patient is severely ill, even unable to eat, they will first strengthen the gastric Qi to ensure appetite and intake!
Only by ingesting food and being able to digest it does the body have the energy to absorb medicinal power, strengthen itself, and strive for enough recovery time to fight the disease.
Therefore, strengthening gastric Qi becomes a key point for TCM in treating all diseases.
