I Can See Health Bars in Real Life-Chapter 351 - 16: Souls Should Be Freer Than When Alive (Part 2)
The saleswoman couldn’t hide her deep disappointment; it was the first time she had seen such a stunning person. Although her appearance was of a young girl, she possessed an inexplicable sense of maturity and gentleness. Walking through the mall, she naturally attracted attention from all directions.
It was hard enough to pique her interest in the store; if she could bring her in, there would be no need for her to actually buy clothes. Even just trying on a few sets would be fine. Just standing in the store would be a living advertisement. There’s nothing more convincing than that...
And if she could bring in this young man as well, that would be even better...
The saleswoman looked at Gu Mo with a gaze full of resentment, only to find that he merely shrugged and quickly followed the Miss Witch in front, waving his sleeve without a trace.
...
"This is where they sell daily necessities... don’t you need them?"
"That’s the cosmetics specialty area over there. Want to take a look?"
"That seems to be a movie theater..."
The Witch’s way of browsing was quite unique, unlike most girls. She had no desire to shop, nor did she linger in an area, going back and forth, struggling to make a decision or reluctant to leave.
She was simply exploring this era with an open mind, without any shopping desires. Even though Gu Mo enthusiastically recommended things, she politely declined them all... She didn’t need those things. As a result, after walking around, they left the mall empty-handed.
It was already past nine in the morning, and they returned to the first floor of the mall.
Gu Mo was a bit helpless, but this was expected, so he quickly perked up and said, "Where should we go now? Is there anywhere else you want to see, Kikyo?"
"Well..." Kikyo showed signs of hesitation.
"How about I plan it?" Gu Mo raised his hand and said enthusiastically. He quite enjoyed the current pace. He wasn’t particularly eager to get involved in the Warring States Era’s turmoil and had no strong desires for the Four Souls Jade. Staying here wouldn’t be an issue.
Gently shaking her head, the Witch softly said, "Let’s leave that for later... Can we find a quiet place? I’d like to ask you something."
So, it finally came...
Gu Mo’s eyes showed a hint of understanding, but he wasn’t surprised. Instead, he smiled and said, "Shall we find a quiet place to sit?"
Kikyo slightly nodded.
Two minutes later.
In a café, at a booth near the window, the Witch looked around somewhat helplessly. Was this the ’quiet place’? Though it was quiet, with few customers and those present seated far enough to be out of earshot.
Still, Kikyo wasn’t used to it. She sighed softly; perhaps this was typical of this era.
"What’s wrong? If you don’t like it, we can go somewhere else." Gu Mo, holding his cup across from her, took a sip of hot coffee, noticed the Witch’s expression, and earnestly suggested.
"No, it’s fine..." Kikyo shook her head.
"That’s good... By the way, can you drink things?" Gu Mo glanced at the cup on the Witch’s table, unsure if she could handle modern beverages, but remembered a more pressing matter.
He realized he had never seen Kikyo eat. Could it be she no longer had that function in her body?
"I can."
Kikyo replied faintly; there was a difference between not needing to do something and not being able to do it. She didn’t need to eat anymore, but it didn’t mean she couldn’t eat, and there was no conflict between the two.
"That’s good..."
Gu Mo nodded and then, looking out the window, casually asked, "So, Kikyo, what do you want to ask... About Naraku, about me, or about the future—I mean, relative to the Warring States era’s future?"
"So you do know about Naraku..." The Witch wasn’t surprised; she just lowered her gaze.
"Yes, the wild thief Ghost Spider you once saved developed nefarious intentions towards you. When you left the village with the Four Souls Jade that day, his malevolent thoughts attracted many demons. He made a deal with them, using his body and soul, ultimately merging with numerous demons to become a new creature... Oh, I should say a Half-Demon." 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂
Gu Mo thoughtfully recalled the clues he knew and recounted them one by one.
"Half-Demon?"
Kikyo raised her eyebrow slightly; what he said matched what Feng had told her, except for the noteworthy additional point.
"Yes, he’s not a complete demon yet, still a Half-Demon... Even though his body comprises many wicked and ghostly creatures, that doesn’t change this." The youth across from her continued to ponder, speaking slowly, "The Ghost Spider’s heart is still alive within him, so even after fifty years, he hasn’t changed much."
Although an extremely cruel and evil villain, he wasn’t always the formidable final boss.
