I Can Hear the Heart's Voice of Traditional Chinese Medicine-Chapter 167 - 78: Really Treating Dr. Lu Like Family Now (2/3)
The fire in the neurology ward hadn't been completely extinguished yet, and now there was another blaze in obstetrics.
Li Haoguo was speechless.
However, he was also quite shocked.
Earlier, he thought they were just family members visiting patients, but he didn't expect them to become the firefighter team of the Ninth Hospital.
"I hope nothing else happens. Neurology just ended, and now it's obstetrics. If something else happens, won't we have to pull an all-nighter at the Ninth Hospital?"
Li Haoguo shook his head and turned back to assign some tasks to other medical staff.
There were still other patients in the neurology department who hadn't been pricked yet. Seeing that those who had been pricked were getting better, if they suddenly stopped, wouldn't people explode?
Shouldn't they first do some comforting work?
This was the only thing Ye Xiang asked him to arrange before leaving, and other matters would naturally be handled by the medical staff in the neurology ward.
Of course, a few interns from the integrated Chinese and Western medicine department also needed to be arranged.
...
In less than five minutes, Lu Xuan appeared in the obstetrics department along with Ye Xiang.
Wu Liguo was already waiting at the door. Seeing Lu Xuan arrive, he casually handed a piece of clothing to Lu Xuan, and then turned to Ye Xiang and said, "Old Ye, don't go in. If there are too many people, and that young girl makes trouble, I'm afraid I won't be able to handle it."
Ye Xiang was originally planning to go in to take a look, but upon hearing this, he couldn't help but roll his eyes at Wu Liguo. However, he didn't insist.
Even Wu Liguo found the young girl troublesome, so he didn't want to provoke her.
If she complains about him later, where would he go to clear his name?
So, he nodded and agreed, "Fine, I'll wait outside."
While the two were talking, Lu Xuan had already put on the clothes and, under Wu Liguo's guidance, entered the delivery room.
To be honest, this was Lu Xuan's first time seeing an obstetrics delivery room.
It was very noisy.
Though the soundproofing here was quite good, it still couldn't completely drown out the cries of the newborn baby.
On the way to the delivery room, Wu Liguo had already given Lu Xuan a brief introduction of the situation. After entering, he greeted the department director of obstetrics, Song Xiaoyun.
Seeing Lu Xuan so young, Song Xiaoyun subconsciously glanced at Wu Liguo but quickly looked away.
By this time, since the person was already there, regardless of whether it would work or not, they had to let him have a try.
Under Song Xiaoyun's guidance, Lu Xuan came beside the delivery bed.
Seeing another doctor in a green gown come in, especially a male doctor, the young girl felt a bit embarrassed: "Director Song, can't you stop letting more people in? I'm exposed down here, it's really embarrassing."
Song Xiaoyun rolled her eyes immediately: "You know it's embarrassing; we asked you to cooperate with the use of forceps delivery, and you didn't want to. We could only get another doctor to take a look. If you don't think it's okay, I'll ask Dr. Lu to leave now, is that alright?"
Hearing this, the young girl got anxious: "No, no, you don't have to. I already don't know what shame is lying on this bed. Go ahead, look."
The young girl had a sacrificial demeanor, leaving Song Xiaoyun and others speechless.
"Dr. Lu, the young girl is cheerful, but she just didn't want us to use forceps delivery. We really had no choice but to ask you to come over, hoping that Chinese medicine might have other methods," Song Xiaoyun, mentioning this troublesome young girl, was increasingly helpless.
Hearing this, Lu Xuan also walked closer for a look. The baby's head was actually visible, and the abdomen was quite bulging, but the young girl had been in labor for too long and had no strength left to deliver.
With a slight blush, Lu Xuan walked up to the young girl and said softly, "Let me take your pulse first."
Though the young girl was difficult regarding the use of forceps for delivery, she was still cooperative at other times.
The pulse was slippery, and the tongue was red with yellow coating.
A slippery pulse indicates phlegm retention, food stagnation, true heat, and other syndromes, and also indicates pregnancy. If a woman has a slippery pulse without illness, it can be determined as pregnancy (2 to 9 months of pregnancy). A normal person's pulse is slippery and gentle (slightly slippery), indicating harmony of Ying and Wei, and ample Qi and blood.
However, Lu Xuan hadn't had much exposure to knowledge about women giving birth, and he checked the pulse and tongue signs mainly to hear what these teachers had to say.
[The so-called labor dystocia usually refers to the situation where during delivery, the uterine contractions are poor, the labor process is too long, and the fetus cannot be delivered.
The reasons are generally that the first-time mothers are often mentally tense, resulting in irregular contractions during delivery, increasing the mother's fatigue and prolonging the labor process; or because of increased fibrous tissue between the uterine muscles, causing muscle atrophy and loss of elasticity, resulting in weak uterine contractions; or due to other reasons such as a narrow pelvis, abnormal fetal position, improper use of sedatives or anesthetics, etc.
In Chinese medicine, it belongs to the category of dystocia.
The "Treatise on the Origin and Manifestation of Various Diseases·Dystocia Syndrome" states: "Difficult labor... leads to dryness in the birth canal, exhaustion of the mother's strength..." The "Heart Method of Childbirth" also mentions women's difficult labor: "Ordinarily weak, excessive exertion too soon, and when the child wants to come out, the mother has no strength left, causing the fetus to stay, the birth canal to dry, and birth to be difficult." 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞
This patient had a prolonged labor and exerted force too early, depleting her energy, resulting in impaired Qi mechanism, blood stagnation, and forming dystocia. Therefore, the Sanyinjiao point intersection of the liver, spleen, and kidney channels, is taken to adjust the Qi of the three channels and regulate the womb, and the Hegu point of the Yangming channel, which is rich in Qi and blood, is taken to adjust the Qi mechanism and assist in delivery.]
Hearing this, if not for the number of people around, Lu Xuan would have wanted to slap his thigh a few times.
When he previously heard about the pregnant woman's condition from Ye Xiang, he instinctively felt that Chinese medicine was not good at this condition since he had never studied it or read medical books mentioning dystocia. But now it seems that Chinese medicine does have solutions.
Not only does it have solutions, but there are quite a few relevant records, with several medical books containing this knowledge. It's just that he hadn't read them.
"It seems that I need to read more medical books when I get back."
Lu Xuan felt that his knowledge was still too lacking. With his photographic memory ability, not reading more medical books, or even going through all medical books, would be a serious waste of this talent.
