I can expand my MAGIC ENDLESSLY?!-Chapter 5: Duel
Kairos opened the door, revealing a figure standing in front of his door. It was a girl in her twenties, wearing a crisp maid uniform, with orange hair neatly tied behind.
"Her eyes slowly traveled upward, stopping at his face. She blinked, thinking, Was he always this tall?"
"The Baroness... ca..."
She froze. Her expression twisted, backing away.
"W-What is that smell?! What did you do, Young Master?!"
Kairos looked down. His clothes were soaked in black, sticky goo, clinging to his body.
He frowned before his realization struck him.
’Body purification! It was body purification!’
"Ghaa! Young Master! The Baroness will have my head if she sees you like this!"
Kairos sniffed himself and instantly winced. The stench was unbearable, almost like rotten vegetables.
...I need to wash this off," he muttered, his voice barely above a whisper. The stench was unbearable even he could barely stand it.
___________
"This... I could get used to this."
He leaned back, closing his eyes, letting the warm water soothe his body.
The place was decorated and was big and covered in green marvels. That looked quite nice.
But the most rewarding thing would be the changes his body went through. He raised his hand, clenching it.
He can feel the strength and the improvement the body underwent. His mana circulation was also faster than before.
"No wonder, rich trashy nobles are stronger despite not having the will or the drive."
Such rapid growth was only possible because of those recovery potions. If it weren’t for those, it would have taken at least a few days to achieve the current state of his body.
Kairos sighed again. It was a good thing, they are rich, and he would be able to grow quickly with resources.
Still, that won’t be enough for the crisis he has to face. The more he thinks about the future, the more solemn he starts to become.
While outside, Emilia could be seen wearing nothing but a towel, with her hair tied with another small towel wrapped around her head.
"Tak tak, Youngmaster, are you done? Can I come in?"
Kairos snapped back from his thoughts. Kairos frowned. "Wait!... coming in?... wait!..."
"U-uh, Young Master, I’m coming in. Don’t you need help scrubbing your back?... I can do...
Kairos cut her off right away, "No, I don’t! Stay outside."
’But ahh...’ Emilia spoke standing right behind the door.
"No, I can clean myself," Kairos said sharply, cursing under his breath. These nobles... always enjoying themselves like this. Seems this kid’s no exception.
Hearing that, disappointment washed over her face, and she could only leave with a sad face.
After a while, he stepped out. He now wore a crisp white tunic with simple black embroidery at the cuffs.
The fabric fit snug around his chest and loose around the arms, making him look unexpectedly presentable.
Kairos couldn’t help but glance at the mirror. This is my reality now...
I look like one of those pompous heirs, he thought wryly.
Kairos opened the door, stepping out.
"We should...hu..." Emilia’s words stutter as she stares at him.
"Let’s go," Kairos said, looking at the maid.
"Ah, y-yes... I was just surprised," she stammered, still staring. "You’ve grown taller. You almost look like a completely different person."
Kairos paused for a moment. "...It’s just your imagination."
"Huh... okay," she murmured, shaking her head slightly. "Let’s go then, young master."
He walked after her, changes are bound to be seen. Thus, he wasn’t that worried. He has to adapt somehow to this new life as fast as possible.
They passed through huge corridors decorated by all kinds of things, like armor, paintings, flowers here and there, and a few maids cleaning with small white brooms in their hands.
In simple words, the place was befitting of that of a noble, a rich one at that too.
"We should hurry, Young Master your fiancée is here."
Kairos paused. Fiancée?
The word caught him off guard, but then he realized, considering he’s a noble now. Arranged engagements were nothing unusual.
Still, he couldn’t let that be, a fiancée meant complications he couldn’t afford. He needed to find a way to break it quietly.
Saying nothing, he followed. As he passed through the corridor, Kairos glanced out one of the windows.
Hah hah hah...
Dozens of knights holding real swords were training in unison, led by a middle-aged man with a cold face.
Red aura covered their bodies and intensified with each swing, like flames.
"Not bad. Still, they have some fundamental problems," Kairos thought, watching their footwork and posture. The trainer also seemed quite well versed in what he was teaching them.
His maid led him outside through the front door. A massive statue stood not far from them. Standing alone holding a huge spear.
"A Paragon?"
Kairos recognized it immediately. It wasn’t just a statue it was a dormant Paragon. The gift of technology the dwarves left behind long ago before meeting their end.
And with the advancement of magic, it became a symbol of the nobles, which only they could wield.
Dust coated it thickly. Making Kairos sure, it hasn’t been moved in years. Maybe more than a decade. Also, the model looked quite old. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢
They walked past the training grounds. To the left, a narrow path framed by arched trees led into a vibrant garden.
Flowers bloomed in arranged rows. Gardeners moved silently, trimming and tending.
At the heart of the garden stood a pavilion. Around a polished stone table, three figures sat on white chairs.
His mother. A strong-looking old man that looked familiar. And a silver-haired girl sipping tea gracefully, casting a glance at him for a second before presuming back to the tea.
Kairo’s eyes flickered for a second. The girl. He knew that face. But he couldn’t pinpoint where he had seen her.
"Kairos, you’re here. Come, greet Master Ronan Skylark."
Hearing the word, Skylark. Kairo’s mind clicked; he finally understood why their faces are so familiar. It turns out they are from the Dukedom Skylark family from the Velmor kingdom.
Kairos gave a polite bow. "It’s a pleasure to meet you, sir."
Velmor Kingdom, huh? Is he in the Velmor kingdom then? His face stiffened. If that were true, things just got a lot more complicated.
"Sit down, Kairos," his mother said gently.
He sat down, casting a glance at the girl.
She turned, eyes locking with his. Her brows drew together instantly.
"What are you staring at, pervert?"
His expression shifted in an instant, shock flashing across his face.
That voice. That tone. He knew it. There was no mistaking it.
He froze. "Wait... are you Leia Skylark?!"
She blinked, then glared. "Of course I am! Are you blind or just stupid?!"
"My, my," her grandfather chuckled. "No need to be rude, granddaughter."
Kairos’s mother sighed. "Kairos, please behave yourself... don’t cause me any more trouble."
Kairos didn’t respond. His mind was stuck on one thing.
Leia Skylark. The woman who will command the strongest independent alliance and will be known as the Windblade empress, the faction he was part of for some time.
She was here. Right in front of him. She looked at him, annoyance visible all over her face.
"As I was saying, my granddaughter awakened her mana last month. She’s already at her eleventh Mana cycle."
Leia smiled smugly, as if saying, "Look at me. I’m a genius."
Kairos didn’t mind. Her progress was impressive. And considering who she will be in the future, it wasn’t a surprise; rather, it was to be expected of the Windblade empress. Who tople down an named monsters on her own.
As for the Zeroth circle, it is the foundation of magic, and he also has to establish one himself to take the path of magic. Usually it has around one hundred or so cycles. She reaching the eleventh one already is quite a feat considering the first cycles are painful.
"That’s wonderful news. It seems I’ll have to prepare a gift for her." Valeria spoke with a smile.
"... no need, no need," the old man began, but his words were cut short.
"On second thought, I have some good news to share as well... about Kairos." His mother gave a glance at him.
Kairos understood. He raised his hand. A flicker of red lightning sparked to life at his fingertip.
Ronan’s eyes sparkled with interest. Meanwhile, Leia gave a glance before looking away.
"Haha, wonderful! Both awakened. Both are geniuses!"
Leia snapped, "I still don’t like him. He’s not strong."
Kairos raised an eyebrow. So she hated the old Kairos. Better then.
’No way he’s getting tangled up with this woman.’
Windblade impressed, although she didn’t become as strong as him. She was quite famous not just for her strength but also for how crazy she was. Just remembering the training days made him shudder.
"How can you say that? You’re thirteen, and he’s twelve. He awakened a whole year before you!"
Leia glared. Kairos smirked, it was nice. Seeing her like this, considering how he had to suffer because of her in the good old bitter days.
She growled, then pulled off her black glove and tossed it in front of him with some force.
"I, Leia Skylark, challenge you to a duel!"
"Ah, that..." his mother began, already expecting her son to lose, she glanced at Ronan Skylark, hoping for him to say.
But Ronan said nothing his silence was approval. She herself has to stop it.
"Kairos just awakened today..." Her words were cut short.
"I accept," Kairos said, standing.
His mother looked panicked. "Kairos, you’re not ready. You can still decline."
"It’s fine, Mother," he interrupted, already walking.
He paused and turned back.
"Let’s have our duel."
Whatever the reason for the duel was. He was ready for it. Kind of himself was also looking forward to meeting swords with the younger version of the Windblade empress.
Baroness Valeria could sigh and follow her son’s plan.
