I can expand my MAGIC ENDLESSLY?!-Chapter 41: Pride of the Mountains
Sneering, Darius was the first to move, he propelled himself, holding his big sword firmly, plunging towards him.
Nathan’s eyes flickered as he moved instantly, unsheathing his sword. Deflecting his attack in one go,causing his white hair to waver.
Darius’ eyes widened as his sword was deflected, met by those unwavering calm eyes.
Smiling, he took several steps back. This time, Nathan lunged forward.
The smile on Darius’ face widened as he struck down.
Again, it was deflected.
Again.
And again.
Clank! Clank! Clank!
The clash of steel echoed through the arena, sending gusts of wind fluttering around them.
The other students watched in awe. That strength. That kind of agility.
Kairos watched as well, his eyes following every clash of their blades.
Teresa was among the spectators too, but to her, the fight held far more excitement than it did for the others.
"Finally," she murmured, a smile forming on her lips. "I can see him in action."
Nathan Lumainn, the main character of [’Conquering the Lower Plains’]. The immense world build attracting many. But if she had to point out what she liked the most in the novel.
Was him, It was him.
She could already see his gaze calculating everything, just like what was described in the story.
An expressionless, calculating person. Inside, however, there was nothing calm about his mind.
[Hmm...it’s fascinating how a body can handle that kind of strength. Barbarians really are a different breed from us. But... how did they even appear? Well, the whole kingdom didn’t exist before, yet it feels like they’ve been here for ages.]
He dodged to the side before counterattacking. Getting blocked by Darius this time, causing him to smirk.
His expression remained calm but deep within his mind.
[Oh, look at that, a brute looking down on my skills! Even the Mercenary King, who roamed the world with nothing but his strength and sword, respected me. And how dare he look down on me!]
Instantly, Nathan’s strikes became sharper, each blow carrying far more strength, leaving Darius visibly shocked.
"There it is..." Teresa murmured, watching. All this time, what made him so special wasn’t just his immense calculation or precision.
No, no, no.
It was the immense arrogance buried deep within him. Like mountains standing unmoving, not needing to roar like the raging seas. They simply hold their ground, unshaken. The arrogance of the mountains. 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚
Earning him the nickname later on, The Pride of the Mountains!.
[How dare you look down at me? How dare you look down at the strength I earned seeing The mercenary king, how dare you look down at the strength! That would conquer the Red plains]
His face remained calm, but deep within, like lava nestling within the mountains, it raged.
[I’ve already failed once, failed to keep the vow I swore in that place. I failed to protect those I promised glory. So how dare you look down on the strength I earned?]
Darius, having had enough, retreated, gritting his teeth. His tattoos glowed. Visible even after him wearing his clothes.
He clutched the sword, propelling forward.
Nathan dodged. Taking steps back left to right, dodging the attacks by a hair’s breadth.
[Yes, come after me with all you’ve got. I will too! Make yourself worthy of the strength I am about to show. That will conquer the Red Lands and achieve the path of human advancement]
Nathan’s pupils dilated for a moment before he also lunged forward. Without any shards of fear visible within his eyes.
Within his heart something stirred up before escaping through his veins.
Commander: Don’t interfere.
Crowin stopped in his tracks.
Time seemed slow as they were about to clash.
[War will ensue throughout the world, I have to take the throne once again. So how dare you look down upon me without knowing anything. I will conquer the Red lands]
The veins within his hands glowed for a split second before a wisp of white escaped within his heart, spinning within the nodes.
[To do that, I need strong allies, far stronger, and you, Darius, to be happy and worthy. I choose you ]
Before, like a tide of torrent unleashed through the sword, Darius’s eyes widened as slowly his sword fell down, touching his.
Instantly, the swords struck true. Darius’s muscles bulged up before his mystic art could bear the weight.
But before his body gave way. Something else broke.
Crack!
Instantly, a crack appeared on the sword. Before spreading instantly all the way through.
Clink.
Instantly the sword broke, instantly. Nathan’s eyes opened wide as Aura flared out of his body. Counting down.

[I will tame, You!!]
Instantly Nathan spun. Going to the side, plunging his sword towards his neck. Counting down the moment as he did.

Before his sword could taste flesh.
A sudden string of blue light erupted between the two.
A small, spinning disk appeared, blocking the sword.
CLANG!
Instantly the strike resounded like one hitting a bell very hard. Causing a small shockwave to spread outward.
Surrounding them all were hundreds of such small disks spinning and floating.
Professor Corwin stood several meters away, one hand extended forward.
"That’s enough!" He shouted.
Nathan lowered his sword, slowly backing away, his eyes still locked onto Darius.
Across from him, Darius stood frozen.
Sweat was rolling down the side of his face, tracing down his neck.
He buckled before collapsing on the ground, grabbing his neck. He could still feel the sensation of a sword approaching his neck.
’Did he really want to kill me?’ That’s the only thing circulating within his mind.
’But why?. Was that taunting enough for someone to kill him? Aren’t they the Savage? And are known as the most ruthless?
A thin strand of his hair drifted downward...
Seeing the both of them. Backing away. He waved his hand. One by one the disks that were originally underneath his robe returned through the opening of his sleeves.
He let out a sigh of relief before narrowing at the calm Nathan Lumainn
His eyes narrowed, he really took it far. He really meant to kill. Or was he aware of him and knew he would stop it?
He sighed just thinking about the mess he had to face with them being like that on the bright side.
He glanced at Darius. Who was clenching his fists and gritting his teeth but not daring to look up?
’That would tone it down a little.’
"Alright everyone, clear up. The ranks are clear now! If anyone still has some problems, stand up. But...
Corwin paused uttering. "It better be worth it like this one."
Almost instantly those that were thinking of doing the same. Bottled down their emotions and didn’t dare to speak up.
"Ok, none. Now stay put. We aren’t done yet. Any disturbance will cost you some penalty from me."
Everyone stayed put, only to glance at Nathan, who remained calm, and Darius, who was clenching his fists, looking downwards.
And among them was Kairos, his eyes were still shocked as he looked at Nathan.
What had happened was flashing in his mind.
He was sure of it. ’That was golem aura!’ he was sure of it.
It wasn’t completely, but the concepts were the same. It’s far inferior to his one. But still he was sure of it; that was the very technique that raised him to the heights of the mercenary king.
