Chapter 26: The plan

Kairos remained quiet. Processing what he just heard. Bloodline lock, commoners, Falcon bloodline, hidden by the world. Everything he heard was new and was quite shocking.

Taking a deep breath in, he looked up. "So, Mother, commoners really can’t perceive them... there should be some way...

Valeria raised her hand for him to stop. "This is what it is, son, a barrier set by the world itself. Commoners can neither perceive nor grasp this power. That’s also why the current world has such disparity between nobles and commoners."

"Even if you explain to them, they won’t be able to comprehend anything; to them such information or words are foreign to them."

Kairos gulped, realizing, "Is this why at certain moments the nobles he faced had surges of power?" It’s because of this bloodline lock! It wasn’t secretive magic or their way of using magic. It was Bloodline lock!

He can hear it now, meaning he will be able to gasp too, but the question is, why did the world even want to hide this?

"What was the reason the world was hiding Mother?"

Valeria shook her head. "We don’t know, it’s one of the many things commoners can’t comprehend."

"Wait, one of the many things?!" Kairos was shocked. Wasn’t this enough? Or is the world hiding more truth?

Valeria smiled. "Yes, many things. Even as a noble, I am not worthy to hear or comprehend them. Only those who stand at the apex of power can uncover the secrets of this world."

She laughed a little. "I wonder how you will react seeing actual ghosts."

"Ghosts?"

"Yeah, my son. The things you read in kids’ stories every one of those things is real. They are rare, though."

"Haha, no need to be afraid."

Kairos felt a shiver run through him, not because of her last comment, but rather because the way she’s saying it means far more things exist than just mere ghosts.

The world had been hiding truths all along.

What else is hidden from him?

Could his regression be connected to one of these hidden secrets?

Just thinking about it, he felt that was most likely the case, and gaining strength could reveal such secrets.

"No need to worry, son. It’s not as if the world is hiding them for no reason it’s for our own good."

"Ignorance is bliss, my son. Don’t overthink it."

Kairos nodded understanding. "How do I gas...

Before Kairos could finish, hurried steps were heard and a soldier barged in.

"Baroness! A surge of Fourth-Tier monsters has been spotted!"

Valeria’s eyes narrowed, and she gave a slow nod. "You’re here... I assume there are many of them?"

"Yes, ma’am. Three have been sighted, and two of them are mid-ranked."

"I see." She turned to Kairos, her expression firm. "Kairos, let’s continue our conversation later."

Kairos nodded, understanding the situation, he also kind of felt annoyed. Why did this have to be now, just when a new world was opening to him?

But what can he do? They are facing a monster surge. And most probably the strongest one in the last few years.

Kairos leaves the tent. Valeria, within a few moments, put back her armor and stepped out again holding her sword.

Kairos, seeing the chance, looked at her armor and the sword. With just one glance, he could guess they are royal Grade treasures, passed down by generation after generation.

Roars and explosions echoed across the battlefield, drawing Kairos’s attention to the city walls. The massive gates were shut, but the sounds of monsters and the flashes of magic from even the mages told him the situation was escalating.

Kairos hurried toward the walls, where his father stood, finally taking in the full scale of the situation.

As reported, there were three fourth-tier beasts. One, a low-ranked Ironfang Rhino, was swarmed by lower-tier monsters.

The other two were a Crimson-Striped Earth Bear and a White Blizzard Salamander, both medium-ranked fourth-tier beasts. They, too, were surrounded by low-tier monsters, but their strength made the smaller foes little more than a nuisance. With a single sweep, everything in front of them was obliterated.

Still, the interference was somewhat beneficial. It bought them time to assess the battlefield and strategize.

Soon, rather quickly, a plan was strategized by Kaelen, their only forth ranked magician. The plan was right away approved by his mother, Aldric, and his father, along with a few important useless people like the head of the merchant group and the head of the star mercenaries, who was a coward. Kairos can see that in a single glance.

The plan goes into motion immediately. The gates swing open, and a few monsters have already reached the walls. Knights and a handful of mercenaries cleared a path, allowing the Paragon to advance.

Behind it, Valeria rode a fully armored warhorse, its plating covering every leg and joint. The crimson armor mirrors her own, giving her an imposing, regal presence.

She scanned the battlefield before gazing up towards her husband. Lucian nodded solemnly, shouting, "Everyone proceeded with the plan!"

Right as he shouted, the gates closed. Valerie speeds up, heading right into the swarm of beasts. The artifact on the horse head also activated, creating a shield with a pointy tip, sliding away all the monsters that got in touch. While Valeria was finishing up the ones that got passed with swift strikes heading towards her target, the crimson-striped earth bear.

The Paragon also moved, using some of its power, accelerating, and blocking the path of the Ironfang Rhino.

Seeing everyone got into position where they should be, Lucian also focused in front of him and positioned Delata right towards the white blizzard salamander.

The plan was simple,Valeria would take down the Crimson Striped Bear, while the Paragon held the Ironfang Rhino in place until she finished and could come to help finish it. Lucian, meanwhile, was tasked with taking out the Salamander..
