I Can Contract Beauties-Chapter 237: Championship Begins
The three of them looked at the person in-charge, waiting for him to speak his mind.
"The reason for this is actually very simple. No one thinks that this boy is going to win in this match up. After all, his fight had been mediocre so far. No one really knew his capabilities. His opponent on the other hand is a known genius summoner of the Red Family second only to Damian."
"As for these few people who bet on this guy, they must only be trying their luck or they are his friends and relatives trying to show support for him," he continued.
In fact, if no one put a bet on Gasper first, no one would have bothered to bet in this line as well.
From the tone of his voice, it also seems like he did not believe that Gasper would win either.
"So, if he wins, these twenty-seven people who bet on him will share the total bet of the other party, and vice versa, right?" Miguel asked in confirmation.
The person in-charge nodded his head, "Correct!"
Miguel thought for a moment before handing him 100 Gold Coins.
"Let us try our luck then. Put all of these on his line," he stated.
The person in-charge’s eyes lit up upon seeing the amount of Gold Coins in his possession.
One must know that every bet was only 10 Gold Coins. This 10 Gold Coin counts as 1 head. 100 Gold Coins meant that this elder has bet for a total of 10 heads.
He also put a wager on the opposing side. After all, for him, this was free money no matter the amount, so who would not put their bet on the Red Family’s genius knowing that he would win a hundred percent.
This means that if his side won, they will have an additional 100 Gold Coins to the total bet amount.
However, the person in-charge heaved a deep regretful sigh.
"I apologize sir but each person can only bet 1 time per line at most," he stated regretfully.
This is the rule, and even he as the person in-charge today would not violate it even if it meant lowering his potential income for this line of bet.
For his job, credibility was important. He doesn’t want to lose his credibility just because of a few gold coins. There were still a few more important competitions in the academy in the near future where he could set up a betting table after all.
"Is that so?" Miguel looked at the two women by his side and continued, "Put 30 Gold Coins for three heads then."
After hesitating for a bit, the person in-charge finally accepted the bet.
"So those who win can just come here and claim their winnings if they win, right?" Miguel stated.
He was worried that this person might run with all the money he collected from the bets.
The person in-charge patted his chest confidently and said, "Don’t worry about it, sir. I have been doing this for years and my reputation is at stake here, so I would definitely be here and wait for the winners to claim their wins."
Miguel nodded his head before turning around with the two women. Well, if the person in-charge really was a scam, it would be an easy task tracking him down. However, that would be a hassle so MIguel preferred that it doesn’t happen.
After a while, Miguel and the two women arrived at their respective seats.
Perhaps because it was the championship, there were now more people in this area compared to before. A quick glance and Miguel could tell that all of them were influential figures in Blazing City.
He was not even familiar to some of them. On the other hand, those who knew him nodded at him as a greeting.
Miguel and the two sat at their seats comfortably and waited for the start of the tournament.
Perhaps knowing that the sophomore division doesn’t have an ounce of excitement, the higher ups decided to make their battles the first to commence while the freshmen were set to perform last.
After a few minutes of waiting, and some speeches from the dean and some important person, the championship battle finally commenced.
The first to fight was Victor and his opponent. Like what the crowd had expected, the fight did not take long before the winner was announced. Victor defeated his opponent in an overwhelming manner.
In the next battle between Erika and her opponent, the same thing happened as expected. She overpowered her opponent to the point that the latter was not able to take a single breather before being defeated.
The sophomore division championship ended with Victor and Erika being crowned as champions in their respective divisions.
Although the crowd expected this and their reactions were bland, it also built anticipation for the upcoming fight between these two champions for the final event that would happen tomorrow.
Anyway, after Erika’s battle ended, the stage was cleaned and repaired of any damage caused during the fight. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢
As it was already the championship stage, they had specially prepared a bigger and wider stage for the participants to fight on.
Although summoner battles were more exciting compared to martial art battles, Gasper’s fight was actually not the main event of the day. Whoever came up with such an arrangement must have thought that Gasper and his opponent’s fight won’t be exciting as well hence they decided to put the martial artist battle as the final and the main event.
Anyway, Gasper and his opponent were finally called to the stage under the watchful gaze of the hundreds of onlookers.
Gasper came face to face with his opponent.
Unlike Gasper who had a muscular build, his opponent can actually be called somewhat skinny.
He has a striking feature and a cold demeanor. His long hair also added to his cold looking face, making him appear emotionless.
Upon his arrival at the stage though, the crowd erupted into cheers, especially the young girls who burst into loud screams full of fanaticism.
It looked like this opponent of Gasper, the well known genius of the Red Family-Simon Red, was a crowd favorite.
