I Become The Richest Man With A monthly Salary of Twenty Thousand Yuan-Chapter 701 - 487: Seek Other Methods
Xia Liang floated about 10 centimeters above the stage floor. He had cheated again.
Seeing the audience’s bewildered faces filled him with satisfaction. He deactivated the levitation spell and gently landed on the ground.
Perfect...
This was a flawless magic show. Of course, Xia Liang had deliberately prepared some small mechanisms, placing them in inconspicuous places for those boring individuals who specialized in debunking magic tricks. Whether those specialists could make any connection was none of his concern.
Xia Liang picked up the microphone on the stage and addressed the audience.
"My performance is over. Why is there no applause? Was it that bad?"
At his words, the audience awoke as if from a deep dream and began to applaud vigorously. The clapping was so loud that the floor itself trembled.
Some fellow magicians in the crowd also snapped out of their stupor. Their first instinct was to study Xia Liang’s routine. If they could figure out how he did it, they could learn from him and perform similar acts.
"Today’s performance is over. Goodbye, everyone..."
With that, Xia Liang made a swift exit. He knew that if he stayed any longer, he would undoubtedly be surrounded by enthusiastic fans.
That was really easy.
After leaving, Xia Liang couldn’t help but sigh. This temp job was probably the easiest one he’d ever had. One show a day was enough. As long as the audience size met the requirement, the task could be completed easily, taking less than an hour in total.
With nothing to do, Xia Liang decided to look for Su Yi.
He hadn’t seen the girl in a long time.
While driving to her place, Xia Liang received a phone call. On the other end of the line was the manager of the commercial street.
"Boss, there’s a film director here who wants to get in touch with you. He’s hoping you can make a cameo in his film and also act as a magic consultant. What do you think?"
"A film crew?"
Xia Liang raised an eyebrow. He was about to refuse when a thought suddenly struck him.
"What’s the movie, and what’s the role?"
"The movie is called ’Magic Brigade.’ If you’re interested, I can email you the script. If you like it, I’ll contact them to arrange a meeting."
Xia Liang agreed.
"Alright, send it over. I’ll call you after I’ve had a look."
Opening the email from Su Menglu, Xia Liang quickly skimmed the movie’s plot. It was about magic and theft, similar to that ’Thief Demon Group.’ After briefly reviewing the script, Xia Liang thought the movie seemed decent and decided to meet with the crew to learn more about the specifics.
Truthfully, Xia Liang wasn’t keen on getting involved. Although the temp job was easy to complete, it didn’t come with any corresponding hidden tasks. So, he decided to use this as an opportunity to test his luck.
"Alright, Boss. They’re available anytime. When would you have time to meet with them?"
Xia Liang glanced at the time.
"Eight o’clock tonight at the Qingyun Grand Hotel."
"Okay, Boss."
After hanging up, the manager on the other end heaved a sigh of relief. He had initially refused when the director first approached him. Others might not know, but he knew exactly who his boss was. The magician was a man of considerable wealth, with many nicknames, the most famous being Master Xia. He wielded immense influence throughout Qingyun City. The manager didn’t know why his boss had shifted from fortune telling to magic, but it wasn’t his place to question it.
Perhaps this is the joy of being rich, he thought. He had heard that his boss had delivered takeout and even worked as an Anchor. Having tried so many professions, maybe the boss simply wanted to experience every job imaginable. It was with this thought in mind that the manager had made the call.
Immediately, he dialed the director’s number.
Meanwhile, Xia Liang arrived at Su Yi’s home. She was overjoyed to see him, immediately waving goodbye to her livestream audience. After they shared a tender moment, Xia Liang departed.
By the time he neared the Qingyun Grand Hotel, it was already six in the evening. As he passed by, Xia Liang saw a crowd gathered under a streetlamp and wondered what was going on.
I have nothing better to do, I might as well go take a look...
Although the crowd was large, people were standing far enough apart that it wasn’t too packed. Xia Liang easily squeezed through. As he did, he accidentally jostled a girl to the side. The girl, initially annoyed at being pushed, immediately became infatuated the moment she saw his face.
"Look, that guy is so handsome..." the girl whispered to her friend.
"He really is... He looks like a celebrity..." Her friend also turned into a fangirl, unable to stop staring at him.
When he reached the front of the crowd, Xia Liang saw a small table in the center with two overturned cups on it. A young-looking boy was busy shuffling them. The boy was neatly dressed with pleasant features. He smiled at the crowd and spoke.
"Now, I’m going to put a coin into one of the cups..."
As he spoke, the boy placed a coin under one of the empty cups right before everyone’s eyes, then began to rapidly swap their positions.
"The rules are the same as before," he said. "If you guess which cup the coin is in, I’ll give you one dollar. If you’re wrong, you give me fifty. Anyone want to play?"
