I Become The Richest Man With A monthly Salary of Twenty Thousand Yuan-Chapter 562 - 451
His position was now less than half a meter away from the wall of fire.
At this distance, a person’s blood would have boiled away within half a minute, yet Xia Liang seemed completely unaffected. The surrounding guests were also stunned, unsure of what he intended to do.
The next second, Xia Liang took a step forward, walking right into the wall of fire!
Then, he emerged from the other side, coming to a stop in front of Yuan Daozi.
BOOM!
Everyone was flabbergasted, as if a bomb had been detonated next to their ears, which began to buzz incessantly. All eyes were glued to Xia Liang, who had crossed the wall of fire without a single injury. Their minds went blank.
Not only was Xia Liang unharmed, but his clothes hadn’t even caught fire! Everyone felt as if their worldview was collapsing. Some wondered if the fire was fake, but as they took a few steps closer, the scorching heat turned their skin red. The flame of burning gasoline could reach nearly one thousand degrees Celsius, yet Xia Liang had walked right through it.
Yuan Daozi was also shocked, his face turning pale in an instant.
Even Xia Liang was somewhat surprised. He originally thought the Life-Saving Talisman would, at most, protect his body. He never expected it would also keep his clothes from being more than slightly singed at the edges. It was as if an invisible barrier had formed around him, warding off all the flames and even protecting his clothes.
However, now was not the time to dwell on such details. Looking at the shocked Yuan Daozi before him, Xia Liang smiled.
"You challenged me to a duel to the death, Daoist Yuan, simply because you want me dead. But I’m sorry to inform you that I, Xia Liang, cannot die."
"Unlike you, I’m no charlatan."
"No, impossible! How can someone be unkillable!" Yuan Daozi roared, refusing to believe what he was seeing with his own eyes. "You must have pulled a trick! There’s something wrong with this fire!"
But just as he tried to leave the confines of the iron plate, he was driven back by the scorching heat of the flames. The intense heat was undeniably real.
Seeing that Yuan Daozi was still not convinced, Xia Liang took another step, crossed back through the wall of fire, and walked straight out.
The guests outside, along with Wang Daoyuan and the others, were all frozen in place, their faces growing pale. Only one thought echoed in their minds: My goodness... Is he even human?
Xia Liang slowly walked up to one of the guests and extended his hand. "Could I borrow your gun?"
"Of course." Not daring to refuse, the man immediately took a pistol from his breast pocket and handed it to Xia Liang. He was the head of Jinling’s Defense Bureau, a VIP invited by the Daoist Association who carried a gun as part of his duty. But looking at the Xia Liang before him now, the bureau chief could barely speak.
Holding the gun, Xia Liang slowly returned to the circle of fire. No one knew what he intended to do, though some guessed he wanted to kill Yuan Daozi right then and there.
But in the next second, something happened that no one expected.
Xia Liang put the gun to his own head.
"No, Master Xia! Calm down!" the guests outside the flames cried out, even though they didn’t know why he was doing it.
But he simply continued to look at Yuan Daozi as he slowly spoke. "My life is not in the hands of the heavens!"
CLICK!
Xia Liang pulled the trigger. Some of the guests squeezed their eyes shut, but they heard no gunshot. The gun had jammed.
All the guests let out a collective sigh of relief. Only Yuan Daozi’s heart began to pound, his sense of unease intensifying.
Xia Liang then aimed the gun at the sky and pulled the trigger.
BANG!
The pistol fired; it hadn’t jammed.
He put the gun back against his head.
"Like I said, we’re not the same."
CLICK. The pistol jammed.
Xia Liang aimed the gun at the sky again. BANG. It fired perfectly. 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎
"I cannot die."
He placed the gun to his head one more time. It jammed again. When aimed anywhere else, it fired without fail.
Everyone stared, completely dumbfounded.
Whenever Xia Liang aimed the gun at himself, it would jam. When he aimed it elsewhere, there would be no issue.
Combined with the fact that he had just freely walked through a wall of fire reaching nearly one thousand degrees Celsius, only one conclusion remained in everyone’s mind: Xia Liang had probably become a god.
Just as he himself had said, he simply could not die.
Looking at Xia Liang, who stood before Yuan Daozi within the circle of fire, one of the guests finally spoke up. "Is there any point in continuing this duel?" His voice trembled, unable to conceal his utter shock.
Previously, they had, at most, only heard rumors of Xia Liang’s abilities and had investigated them. They knew he could control the weather and bring the dying back to life in an instant. They knew he could fathom all things.
But they had never imagined that Xia Liang himself was unkillable. Not only that, he couldn’t even be harmed.
Unkillable and invulnerable.
It was a state of absolute invincibility. If a true god existed in this world, it would have to be Xia Liang.
He saw the fear and dread in the eyes of the countless guests looking at him and felt that his goal had been achieved. The Daoist Association had invited many of Jinling’s elites. By establishing his dominance here, his name would become known throughout the entire city.
The Daoist Association had wanted to use his reputation to remind all of Jinling of its power and bring the organization back into the public eye.
