I Become The Richest Man With A monthly Salary of Twenty Thousand Yuan-Chapter 550 - 446 Earthly Immortal
"Chairman Fang, what are you thinking, bringing some unrelated person in here? Get him out quickly!"
"Actually..." Fang Ding gave an awkward smile. "I invited him here to help you."
"Help us?" Commander Xiao glanced at Xia Liang. This kid doesn’t look like a firefighter.
"Let me introduce myself." Xia Liang extended his hand. "My name is Xia Liang. I’m a... fortune teller."
Before Xia Liang could even finish, Commander Xiao’s face flushed beet red with anger. What is wrong with me today? How did I run into two charlatans?
Commander Xiao rounded on Fang Ding, berating him. "Chairman Fang, I only let you in to discuss strategies because the fire started in your warehouse! How can you be so superstitious? Before I lose my temper, get this fraud out of my sight! Get out!"
Commander Xiao wasn’t familiar with Fangzun Group, so he had never heard of Xia Liang.
Taoist Priest Qin, on the other hand, felt a flicker of recognition upon hearing the name. He was all too familiar with the Xia Liang renowned as a Living Buddha—the one whose proclamations were as good as iron, whose every word could decide life and death. After all, Xia Liang’s reputation in Jinhai had grown considerably these past few days.
But in my opinion, this Xia Liang is a fraud, just like me, he thought. His methods are just far more sophisticated. So that’s why he came to confront me. We’re in the same line of work, no wonder.
Taoist Priest Qin sneered inwardly, but he was also curious how Xia Liang had managed to run circles around everyone in Jinhai.
Meanwhile, hearing Commander Xiao tell them to get out, Fang Ding grew anxious. He slapped his chest and declared, "I stake the reputation of the Fangzun Group on this! Master Xia is the real deal! If he fails to summon rain today, I will sell the entire Fangzun Group!"
A sharp intake of breath went through the surrounding firefighters. He’s staking his entire company on a fortune teller? Has Chairman Fang lost his mind?
"Chairman Fang, you’ve been thoroughly deceived! I see he can’t summon water, but he’s certainly filled your head with it! Now get out!"
Fang Ding wanted to protest, but Xia Liang shook his head, signaling it wasn’t necessary. After all, I don’t need anyone’s permission to call the rain.
With that, Xia Liang produced a talisman from his robes and looked up at the heavens.
Although Commander Xiao was busy coordinating other teams on his walkie-talkie, he still shot several disdainful glances at Xia Liang. Why is it that the richer people are, the more superstitious they become?
Taoist Priest Qin also watched with a cold smirk. He didn’t believe for a second that Xia Liang could actually summon rain. He just wanted to see what new trick the man would use to fool everyone. When he saw Xia Liang produce a single talisman, he assumed he would perform the same trick of making it spontaneously combust.
But in the next second, Xia Liang simply took out a lighter and set the talisman on fire.
Seeing this, Taoist Priest Qin couldn’t help but laugh out loud. This kid doesn’t even know basic stage magic.
Xia Liang paused and turned to look at Taoist Priest Qin. "Do you know why you can’t contact the Dragon King?"
"Why?" Taoist Priest Qin asked instinctively.
"Because..." The flames incinerated the talisman in an instant. "...the Dragon King answers to me!"
BOOM!
A deafening clap of thunder echoed as lightning split the sky.
CRASH.
From the cloudless night sky, a torrential downpour suddenly erupted. Under the vast, empty expanse, rain appeared out of nowhere over the docks, as if a hole had been torn in the heavens themselves. Huge drops hammered the pier, creating a deafening roar. The rain was so heavy that the drops stung where they hit the skin.
The massive fire at the docks was instantly beaten back, the distant glow diminishing significantly under the deluge.
All around Xia Liang, everyone stood frozen, staring in a daze at his silhouette in the rain. It was as if they weren’t looking at a twenty-year-old youth, but a true Immortal.
A living, Living Immortal.
Taoist Priest Qin’s smile had frozen on his face, morphing into a look of sheer terror. His entire body trembled slightly as he clenched his fists.
At that moment, the only sound besides the pounding rain was the crackling static from Commander Xiao’s walkie-talkie.
"Commander Xiao! Look, the sky is helping us! A downpour! We might not even need to break through. If we just contain the flames, this storm will put out the fire soon enough! Commander Xiao, are you there?"
"This rain is so strange, though. Look, you can still see the stars. How can it rain without clouds? Commander Xiao, why aren’t you answering? Are you alright?"
The voice from the walkie-talkie repeated itself several times before a pale-faced Commander Xiao slowly raised the device. He swallowed hard and said, "I’m fine. Use the rain. Put out the fire."
After speaking, Commander Xiao looked up at the sky. Seeing this, many others raised their heads as well.
The sky was clear, dotted with twinkling stars. This storm had appeared from thin air, its torrent confined only to their section of the docks.
A few seconds later, dark clouds did begin to gather in the sky above, but everyone understood the truth.
The clouds were born from the rain.
Not the other way around.
From ahead, Xia Liang’s voice sounded calmly, though he never turned around. All anyone could see was his back. "Commander Xiao. Time to put out the fire."
