I Become The Richest Man With A monthly Salary of Twenty Thousand Yuan-Chapter 532 - 436 Fake
She also pointed the camera at the item on the stage.
The audience in the livestream, seeing that Chu Lingmu was finally about to start the appraisal, all grew excited.
"Finally! Mumu, hurry up and start! Tell us what this thing is."
"This has to be a Tang Sancai piece, right? It’s shaped like a vase. This kind of thing should be called a Small Tang Tri-color short-necked bottle!"
"The person above knows their stuff, but I still want to see Mumu appraise that ’Mona Lisa’s Smile’ that flashed by earlier!"
On the appraisal stage, the three masters were gathered around the Small Tang Tri-color, examining it carefully and nodding from time to time. Below the stage, the owner of the artifact was waiting for the appraisal results, looking visibly anxious.
When Chu Lingmu came on stage, the three masters made room for her. They had found the item a bit strange, which was why they had called her over. Xia Liang and Fang Youxue also followed Chu Lingmu onto the appraisal stage.
With just a single glance, the object’s past and present appeared before Xia Liang’s eyes in perfect clarity.
Chu Lingmu, however, was still looking at the Tang Sancai pottery with a puzzled expression. Soon enough, though, the confusion in her eyes vanished, as if she had seen straight through the item.
"Three masters, what do you think? How much is this item worth, and is it genuine or fake?" Chu Lingmu didn’t answer directly, instead turning the question back to the three experts.
The three looked at each other, largely in agreement, and one of them spoke up. "Judging from its age and patina, it should be an authentic piece from the Tang Dynasty. However, its craftsmanship differs from the typical Tang Sancai of that era. Its patterns and markings are more reminiscent of items from the Ming Dynasty."
Another appraiser added, "Standard Tang Sancai primarily uses yellow, green, and white glazes. This one, however, is mainly white, black, and blue. I’ve never seen a Tang Sancai with this color scheme before. That’s why I felt something was off and wanted you to take a look."
After the appraiser finished, Chu Lingmu nodded and then addressed the audience in her livestream. "What the three masters just said is correct. This item is definitely genuine, and its value is at least a million. There’s no doubt about that, right?"
"Of course," the three nodded.
Down below, the owner who had brought the Tang Sancai for appraisal almost jumped for joy upon hearing his item was worth at least a million. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮
Chu Lingmu’s livestream also erupted with activity.
"That drab-looking thing is worth a million?"
"Wow! The owner of this piece hit the jackpot!"
"That does it! I’m going home to check, too. I’ve always had a feeling the bowl I use to feed my dog was special. Maybe it’s from the Northern or Southern Song Dynasty!"
"I need to go home and rummage through my things too."
On the stage, Fang Youxue was stunned by Chu Lingmu’s words. However, she trusted Xia Liang’s eye more, so she snuck a glance at him. But Xia Liang simply maintained a faint smile, his expression inscrutable, leaving one to wonder what he was thinking.
Meanwhile, Chu Lingmu continued, "The masters are only puzzled by this Tang Sancai’s strange craftsmanship and primary colors. It’s an item from the Tang Dynasty that doesn’t seem to have the characteristics of that period. So, does anyone know why that is?"
The livestream chat exploded once again.
"How would we know? Just tell us, Mumu."
"Stop keeping us in suspense."
"Yeah, yeah, hurry up and tell us! I can’t wait any longer."
Seeing that no one in the livestream could answer, Chu Lingmu looked back at the three masters, who also shook their heads. Then, she fixed her gaze on Xia Liang, her eyes seeming to say: "Aren’t you an appraiser, too? Stumped, are we?"
Xia Liang paid her no mind, simply shrugging with an expression of feigned helplessness. "I’m all ears for your explanation, Mumu."
"Then listen carefully!" Chu Lingmu raised her voice. "Most Tang Sancai from the Tang Dynasty share similar production techniques and color palettes, but not all of them!"
As she spoke, she picked up the Tang Sancai from the table. "During the Tang Dynasty, there was a small town specializing in producing Tang Sancai called Fangtao Town. Usually, any failed pieces made in the town would be immediately destroyed, but!
"Some pieces were nearly finished, with only minor flaws. Certain people felt it was too wasteful to destroy them, so they took these defective pieces home to re-fire them using a special method. The resulting ceramics still had the shape and colors of the Tang Dynasty but possessed very different craftsmanship and patterns. This type of piece is known as a Semi-defective Tang Tri-color!"
As she finished speaking, the entire appraisal stage and the livestream fell silent for several seconds. Then, the masters all burst into applause simultaneously. Their confusion had been cleared up; they were, of course, aware that this type of Tang Sancai existed, but it simply hadn’t occurred to them at the moment.
Beside Xia Liang, Fang Youxue was also clapping enthusiastically.
In the livestream, gifts began to pour in, and the screen filled with a constant stream of "666." Viewers who looked it up discovered that this type of Tang Sancai did indeed exist, but it was incredibly rare and not widely known.
At this, Chu Lingmu felt a bit smug. If she didn’t have a Semi-defective Tang Tri-color at home herself, she probably wouldn’t have known why this piece looked the way it did either.
Many people gathered below the stage also joined in the applause.
