I Become The Richest Man With A monthly Salary of Twenty Thousand Yuan-Chapter 518 - 429: Unable to Enjoy the Blessings
The three of them stepped out the door.
Xia Liang went straight to the overpass. Needless to say, it was packed with people, and a line had already formed, everyone waiting for him.
Luu Qi and Xi Yiqian were both wide-eyed in astonishment.
"Bro, why are you playing the part of some mystic charlatan?"
"What charlatan? I’m a Heavenly Master, not some charlatan!"
As he spoke, Xia Liang started setting up his stall, charging a small fee for each reading. He watched as one customer after another handed over their money. A few simple words from him was all it took to send them into a state of ecstasy.
Luu Qi felt her entire worldview being overturned. She had clearly never witnessed one of Xia Tian’s predictions before and simply couldn’t believe it. After watching for a while, she grew bored and pulled Xi Yiqian along to go shopping.
After doing a couple more readings, Xia Liang checked the time and saw it was about right.
"Ladies and gentlemen, it’s going to rain soon," he announced. "I’m going to buy an umbrella."
Xia Liang stood up, declining offers from those who wanted to help, and entered a nearby shop. A moment later, he stepped back out, holding a newly purchased umbrella.
Just then, a middle-aged man and an elderly man dressed in a tunic suit happened to pass by. Upon seeing the umbrella in Xia Liang’s hand, both men knitted their brows in puzzlement. After all, it was a rare sunny day with the scorching sun hanging high in the sky. Why on earth would he buy an umbrella?
"Young man, are you alright?" the elderly man in the tunic suit asked out of curiosity.
When he heard the question, Xia Liang glanced at him and instantly knew the old man’s name was Sun Guoming. He just smiled enigmatically.
"However, Elder, you should be the one who’s careful. Rheumatism reacts poorly to rain, and a downpour might worsen your condition."
"Oh?"
Sun Guoming was taken aback. "How do you know I’ve had rheumatism for many years? Besides, the sun is shining brightly. Where would rain come from?"
He was struck with disbelief. He had never met this young man before, yet the man knew about his rheumatism. Was it that obvious?
"Let me introduce myself, Elder. My name is Xia Liang, a Fortune Teller," Xia Liang said with a smile as he extended his right hand, which Sun Guoming shook.
"So you’re a Fortune Teller." The elder nodded. "I’ve lived for quite some time, but I’ve never seen such a young Fortune Teller. Did you divine my rheumatism just now?"
"Actually, Elder, I didn’t need to perform a divination for your rheumatism; I can tell just by looking," Xia Liang explained. "Your gait is strong and vigorous, but if one looks closely, it’s slightly unsteady. I’ve studied some medicine, so I know that your posture while walking is a sure sign of rheumatism."
Sun Guoming let out a chuckle, then pointed at the umbrella in Xia Liang’s hand. "You sure are honest, lad. My rheumatism indeed doesn’t do well with rain. I checked the weather forecast before coming out, and it’s not supposed to rain at all today. That umbrella of yours is probably superfluous."
"That’s not necessarily true," Xia Liang replied with a smile, lifting his umbrella. "Weather forecasts aren’t always accurate. I, however, performed a divination. In ten minutes, there will be a heavy downpour. It will come and go quickly, lasting only five minutes. When it does, Elder, you might just have to borrow my umbrella."
"Well, I’ll be waiting to see if your prediction is accurate," Sun Guoming said with a chuckle, clearly not believing it, though he did glance at his watch.
Though he was a man who had seen the world and met all sorts of people, Sun Guoming didn’t think Xia Liang looked like a common charlatan. Still, the boy was far too young. A Fortune Teller’s abilities were almost always accumulated through age. A Fortune Teller this young was hardly believable.
"We have some time before your predicted rain," Sun Guoming said, his interest piqued. "A chance encounter is a form of destiny, so since you claim to be a Fortune Teller, why don’t you read my fortune? Tell me what worries I have on my mind recently."
"Then I must respectfully comply. Elder, your right hand, please?"
"Sure."
Sun Guoming nodded and smilingly extended his hand. Xia Liang was merely putting on a show, of course. He had already seen Sun Guoming’s entire path of fate and had no need for palmistry, but the performance was essential.
Holding Sun Guoming’s hand, Xia Liang clicked his tongue in admiration. "Elder, your palm lines are extraordinary. You’ve been on the battlefield, haven’t you?"
"That’s right, I have indeed been involved in some battles," Sun Guoming confirmed, his eyes growing more serious.
"There are ten thousand kinds of palms, each with its own rank. The past and the future are all held within them. Elder, a palm like yours cannot be borne by an ordinary name. I am correct in calling you Elder Sun, am I not?"
Hearing this, the casual smile vanished from Sun Guoming’s face, replaced by a look of sheer disbelief. He even straightened his back unconsciously.
"Young man, your insights run deep to be able to discern this. If I hadn’t checked the weather forecast on a whim before coming out, I might suspect you had investigated me. But you still haven’t answered my question. The matter that has been worrying me recently... can it be resolved?"
Sun Guoming showed an odd smile.
Xia Liang feigned deep thought for a moment before an inscrutable smile spread across his face.
"Elder, you really know how to jest. You have both a son and a daughter, three generations living under one roof. Not too long ago, your son became a Great Commander, and you now have a grandson. Your spouse’s long-term illness has also shown significant improvement. Right now, what worries could you possibly have?"
"How did you know?"
Listening to Xia Liang’s response, Sun Guoming nearly exclaimed out loud as the look of disbelief on his face deepened. When Xia Liang stated that he currently had no worries at all, Sun Guoming was so stunned he froze on the spot.
