Sure, the A-rank clones have weaker combat capabilities than even his weakest A-rankers, who could hold his own against 2 of them at once, but still, the Master lose hundreds of them to one S-rank Hero. That should speak of the power of an S-ranker.

While he is strong, he did not think he could survive even if he was granted a hundred lives.

"Oh, it’s possible for you to become an S-ranker. You and some others." his Master said, "But, you need to accomplish a near impossible task."

"A near impossible task?" Aridus asked, wondering what it is. His mind drifted to one possibility, before pushing it away. Surely his Master would not ask for him to do such thing, right?

"Yes. You need to defeat the S-rank ruler of Forest of Bug."

’Well, looks like I foolishly believe that my Master would not ask me to do a suicide mission.’ Aridus’ eyes turned blank, as all hope seem lost in his eyes.

Ryker could see it as he spoke, "I will not be sending you to your death. Instead, I will make some preparation of my own, and lend you a number of A-rankers to assist you with it."

Aridus’ eyes returned back to life at the mention of assist.

"The A-rank clones?" he asked.

"Yes. Their tasks will be the same as before, acting as complete fodder and weaken the S-ranker. But first, we need to confirm it’s existence. After you did that, you need to learn of its behavior and create a plan to capture it."

Aridus nodded before he realize something wrong.

"You?"

"Yes. You, Maroon and the rest of the A-rankers on field will be doing that." His Master confirmed his fear.

"But why won’t you do it?" As he spoke such thing, Aridus slammed his mouth with his palm, realizing how he sounded.

Surprisingly, the Master did not get angry.

"Yes, I understand how near impossible doing such thing would be. But, it’s to allow you to ascend into S-ranker. Along with hopefully others."

Aridus did not understand the reasoning behind it. Thankfully, his Master knew his plight and explained things further.

"S-ranker could only become one after they accomplish a great feat. For some, it’s defeating a large number of A-rankers singlehandedly, or an entire army at that. For others, it’s exploring never before seen places where only Monsters reside while some able to consume powerful treasures and become one.

There are also those who earn their ascension by conquering another nation with overwhelming odds stack against them, with some managing to become one when they save entire towns and cities from almost certain destruction.

In the end, they need to accomplish near impossible feat. And what is more impossible than defeating an S-rank while still at A-rank. In fact, the reason the 6 S-rank Monsters and I manage to become one is because we survive and involve in defeating the Hero. The fact we send many Monsters and A-rank clones did not even effect our ascension."

Aridus could believe such thing. S-rankers are rare existence, but their numbers should be in triple, maybe even 4 digits. For there to be S-rankers, there should be methods to become one.

It just he never expected the methods to be so many, with the definition being accomplishing the near impossible, or impossible for the regular A-rankers, which will set aside them to the regular A-rankers.

Aridus was not completely sure of what his Master meant by final triumph, but it should be great.

"I will create several weapons that will hopefully work against the S-rank Bug, but I will need to know what it’s look like." the Master was in deep thought before he told him.

"Find a safe spot at the Outer Section and set up a watch. Took about one week of training. After one week, come back so I can give you something that will hopefully allow you to be undetectable to the S-rank Bug."

Aridus nodded, ready to tell the order of their Master to his groups.
