I Became the Villain's Trainer-Chapter 99
Chapter 99
Jeremiah became Alexa’s magic class partner, a request that Essellia readily granted.
[‘Hmm... This will be a good stimulus for Ysildus. Very well, Your Highness. I’ll inform Brillia, so you may start attending the lessons tomorrow. Keep up the hard work.’]
[‘Hard work...? I’m just imposing on everyone without doing anything meaningful for Thersion.’]
[‘Is that truly how you see it? I beg to differ.’]
Though Jeremiah wasn’t sure what Essellia meant, he offered a vague explanation to his companions. There was no need to reveal his true intentions or thoughts just yet.
‘I’ve decided to attend the magic class to observe three individuals. Looks like I’ll be learning magic from now on, too.’
The Emperor’s spies, sent to monitor Jeremiah, took his words at face value, while his own companions quietly cheered for him. For Jeremiah, once an Imperial Prince consigned to a life of neglect and without proper education, this was his first legitimate opportunity to learn something new. Watching their joy, Jeremiah felt reassured about his bold decision.
It wasn’t the Emperor – Thersion was the answer. The only way to survive was to rise above the Emperor and claim the throne for himself.
Either way, Jeremiah was excited to attend a real magic class for the first time. He had no idea how the lessons would be structured or what was required, so he arrived early at the classroom. He found it amusing that, originally, his goal had been to meet Alexa, but now he was more eager about the lessons.
But that excitement quickly shifted when Alexa arrived. She was dressed in a fresh mint-colored dress with a pale yellow headband, looking livelier than usual. Her rosy cheeks looked so soft, Jeremiah imagined they’d release sweet juice if he bit into them. Staring at her in a daze, he barely registered her greeting.
“Jeremiah, hello!”
“Uh... hello...”
Jeremiah mumbled, still lost in his thoughts.
“Jeremiah?”
Alexa tilted her head towards him, and as her hair swayed, a light, sweet fragrance filled the air. It was the first time Jeremiah had been so close to her, unaccompanied by Terrun or Ysildus. His face turned bright red as he abruptly leaned back.
“Whoa, careful! You’re going to fall!”
Alexa reached out to steady him, and in the process, their hands accidentally touched. Jeremiah’s face turned even redder, almost as if it were about to burst, and Alexa watched him, concerned. She quickly helped him sit up straight and touched his forehead.
“Do you have a fever? Jeremiah, are you feeling sick?”
“N-no! I’m fine!”
Jeremiah cursed himself for acting so foolishly. He’d always been seen as mature or even precocious, thanks to his upbringing, but since coming here, that composure had evaporated, especially when he was alone with Alexa. He swallowed hard.
“Really? That’s a relief. I’m glad we get to study together today, Jeremiah. To be honest, Terrun and Ysildus are hopeless when it comes to magic. They don’t care at all. They start snoring the moment I bring it up!”
Alexa pouted, which only made her look more endearing. Jeremiah gazed at her absentmindedly, realizing that his interest in her wasn’t just curiosity. No, it was something deeper. Watching her smile while discussing magic and medicine, her intelligent blue eyes sparkling, Jeremiah swallowed nervously again.
“A-a-aah!”
Jeremiah tumbled off his chair, and it finally hit him – he was interested in Alexa. She was his first love.
* * *
Alexa tilted her head, confused. Jeremiah had been acting strange all day. She had initially thought it was just because of the new class, but his flushed face concerned her. It was enough to make her bring it up before bed.
“Ysu, I think something’s wrong with Jeremiah.”
“Hm?”
Ysildus, who was lazily reading on the bed, glanced up briefly.
“He was bright red during the magic class today, like he was about to explode.”
“And?”
Ysildus closed his book with a soft thud. Now wasn’t the time to be absorbed in reading; practical experience had always been more valuable. He moved closer to Alexa, though she didn’t notice, lost in her thoughts.
“He kept stammering and seemed feverish... Could it be homesickness? Or maybe he’s sensitive to the local environment? This is Thersion and he came from the capital, after all.”
Alexa rattled off her medical concerns, but she still couldn’t diagnose the issue. She’d been startled earlier when Jeremiah fell from his chair with a loud crash, though luckily, he got up unscathed. Still, his vacant expression afterward had left her worried.
“Maybe we should ask Lord Karrolf?”
She muttered seriously. Jeremiah was destined to play a pivotal role for Terrun and Ysildus. The prince’s health was of great importance, given how his fate was tied to the novel’s main characters. Alexa had even joined forces with them in this world.
‘I can’t let this bet fail.’
It was her second life. She had failed miserably the last time she bet on her senior, and she wasn’t willing to let history repeat itself. Every piece of the puzzle had to fall into place for the future she desired to be realized. A future where Ysildus and Terrun triumphantly enter the capital and defeat the villains plaguing them.
Just as she was deep in thought, Ysildus placed his hand on hers, snapping her out of her reverie.
“There’s no need to be that worried.”

“Why not?”
“I think I know what’s wrong with Jeremiah.”
Ysildus smiled gently as he whispered.
“Want me to tell you?”
“What is it?”
Alexa asked, competitiveness flaring up. She had been the one studying medicine, so how could he reach a diagnosis before her?
‘I’ve been studying this for years!’
Even if it hadn’t been human medicine. Alexa pouted and glared at Ysildus.
“It’s not a difficult conclusion, Alexa. Jeremiah isn’t suffering from an illness.”
“Then what is it?”
“It seems Jeremiah is afraid of you.”
Ysildus said it with such a solemn expression that it seemed like the truth.
“Afraid? Of me? Why?”
Why would he fear me and not you wolves? Alexa wondered, confused. She wasn’t exactly an intimidating figure. Her gentle eyes only added to her friendly appearance. Ysildus explained patiently.
“Jeremiah is new here. He’s spent time talking and sparring with Terrun and me, so we’ve gotten closer. But he hasn’t had that with you.”
“That’s true.”
Alexa nodded in agreement, remembering that she had occasionally seen the three of them together. It was surprising that the usually standoffish Ysildus and Terrun had accepted Jeremiah so easily. But Alexa hadn’t picked up on any hidden motives from them, oblivious to their schemes. Smiling slyly, Ysildus continued.
“So, when you’re friendly, it makes him nervous.”
“I see... So, he’s just flustered?”
“Exactly.”
Ysildus expertly steered Alexa’s thoughts in the right direction. If she ever realized that what Jeremiah truly felt was much more than simple nervousness, it would lead to chaos – chaos that Ysildus himself was planning to unleash.
‘We wouldn’t want that now, would we?’
Ysildus masked his true intentions as he patted the back of Alexa’s hand.
“You’re just too nice for your own good.”
“I guess I’ll tone it down a bit.”
She reflected on how her interactions with Jeremiah differed from how she treated Ysildus and Terrun. With her problem seemingly resolved, Alexa glanced at the book Ysildus had been reading.
“What’s that...? <An Older Woman’s Guide to Younger Men – A Woman’s Perspective>… Ysildus?”
“Oh, I thought it might come in handy.”
Ysildus smoothly took the book from her hands. Alexa, still puzzled, asked.
“…Who buys these kinds of books?”
“Mother. She personally curated the shelf in the study. She says we wolves have a lot to learn.”
Ah... Essellia… Alexa couldn’t help but question Essellia’s educational methods.
‘What exactly are you trying to teach these boys...?’
Blissfully unaware that these were lessons preparing Ysildus as her future husband, Alexa sighed.
......
(T/N: With many books Ysildus has been reading since he became a human, I think I can ask him if he can recommend me one that would make me be noticed by my crush hahaha)
