I Became the Villain's Trainer-Chapter 69
Chapter 69
In the past, the mere thought of a human daring to make any request of Carlisle would have been unimaginable. Essellia observed the scene before her: Terrun and Ysildus eating with graceful, yet swift movements, and Alexa, who sat between them, chattering away, setting the tone at the dining table.
These children are the future of Thersion.
The thought had been persistent lately, even more so than when she first met Alexa. It was clear that Thersion would continue to develop and advance because of these children. While she couldn’t be certain of Carlisle’s exact thoughts, she was confident that those children would be a part of that future.

Alexa requested a meeting with Carlisle to warn him about the Emperor. The Emperor’s schemes could cause great harm to Terrun, and in the worst case, Ysildus could die. Of course, Alexa herself could be the target.
‘You can do it again, Alexa.’
You’ve already changed the fate of the novel many times already. Alexa clasped her hands together.
“I saw the future, Your Excellency.”
Visten and Carlisle looked at each other.
“What future did you see?”
“I saw a future... where Terrun got severely injured. A future where Terrun lost one of his eyes to protect Ysildus from a mercenary that tried to harm him.”
Visten’s face stiffened. Terrun is the only son of Visten and Violeta. While losing an eye wouldn’t be fatal, any harm to his child was unwelcome.
“Thank you, Alexa.” Carlisle spoke gently. “It must have scared you.”
Alexa widened her eyes, surprised that Carlisle would say such a thing. She shook her head slightly.
“No, not at all. It hasn’t happened yet, and it might not even happen.”

“That might be the case. But there’s a world of difference between being caught off guard and being prepared even with a suspicion of danger. Isn’t that right, Visten?”
“Yes, Your Excellency. Thank you, Alexa.”
Visten said after regaining his composure. Thanks to Alexa’s warning, they could prepare for the possibility of Terrun getting hurt.
“I’ll increase the number of guards and maids around Alexa.”
“Good.”
In truth, all the maids looking after the children were strong wolves. Even the Head Maid was formidable, with combat skills on par with a wolf knight. Additionally, there were a few knights secretly watching over the children.
“Do you happen to know when it will happen?”
“I don’t, Baron Visten.”
Visten nodded. He pondered for a moment. If he were a mercenary hired for an assassination, he might aim for a relaxed atmosphere during a festival season.
“Don’t worry about it, Alexa. We will protect you.”
“Thank you.”
Alexa smiled faintly. Soon, she left the office, leaving the cold room with only Visten and Carlisle. With a dark expression, Visten spoke.
“It’s the Emperor’s doing, right?”
“Of course. Even if he didn’t do it himself, it would still be his doing through someone else acting upon his orders.”
“… That shameless Temperch. Since the wolves cannot hurt any of Temperch’s bloodline, we need to come up with a plan.”
“Don’t worry. There are always traitors everywhere, aren’t there?”
Carlisle bared his teeth in a grin. The warmth and humanity he had shown to Alexa were nowhere to be found in his sharp, glinting eyes. Only a murderous intent remained, as if he could snap someone’s neck at any moment.

As Alexa left the room, Selina was waiting for her.
“Selina?”
“I came here to apologize, Miss Alexa.”
Selina spoke with a pitiful expression. Alexa stared at her with a strange look. No matter what Selina said, Alexa no longer trusted her. Hadn’t she already confirmed the hostility and inferiority Selina harbored towards her? Alexa knew that people don’t change easily. Selina was only acting sweet now because she had some ulterior motive.
Essellia had once told Alexa that if something bothered her, she should just get rid of it. She had asked why Alexa hesitated when killing would solve the problem. Standing before Essellia, who had bared her wolf teeth, Alexa shook her head.
But even so, Selina used to be the female lead. Alexa was scared of what would happen if Selina was gone. No matter how much Selina was reduced to the role of a supporting character, Alexa was unsure if this world would continue had Selina died. As Alexa’s wary gaze met Selina’s, Selina’s face made a sorrowful expression.
“I know that I have no excuse to say even if you hate me, Miss Alexa.”
It was strange how she suddenly spoke so humbly when she had used to talk informally to her before. But Selina continued without hesitation.
“From now on, I will only sincerely serve you.”
“Why all of a sudden?”
“I gave it a lot of thought. The Head Maid also gave me a lot of advice.”
“What do you want from me?”
“Nothing. I truly want nothing.”
For a long time, Selina tried to convince Alexa that she had changed. In the end, Alexa nodded. If she had to embrace this necessary evil, she had no choice but to accept it.
“I’ll do my best from now on, Miss Alexa. I won’t be arrogant, and I won’t do anything strange.”
“Alright. I’m counting on you, Selina.”
Alexa took Selina’s hand.
‘Don’t trust her, Alexa.’
It felt as though someone was whispering to her – a warning not to trust Selina. Alexa forced a smile.

Time flew by quickly, and now there was only one day left until the festival. Winter had deepened, and both Ysildus and Terrun had started their studies. This meant that Alexa had more time to herself, though it hadn’t changed the fact that they still followed her around like ducklings following its mother.
“Yawn...”
Alexa stretched and slumped over the table. There’s a saying that it’s not the puppy who suffers from separation anxiety, but the owner. Lately, it was Alexa who felt lonely. She was curious about what Ysildus and Terrun were studying.
‘I need to find a new hobby.’
That wasn’t a good sign. Alexa needed to start distancing herself from them a little.
She had already finished her studies for the day and even read a book. What would make a good new hobby? Alexa absentmindedly lay her head on the table, thinking.
She had once tried gardening, but after Ysildus dug up the garden a few times, she gave up on it. Now, though, she wasn’t inclined to pursue something that no longer interested her.
“How about meeting a friend if you’re bored?” Selina asked softly.
Ever since she had extended a hand to Alexa a while ago, Selina had genuinely changed. She was kind and gentle in her interactions with Alexa, so much so that Alexa’s already dull sense of caution had become even duller.
Alexa imagined it for a moment – a new friend. At present, she was in an awkward position in Thersion. Would the noble ladies even want to associate with her? Setting that aside, if she did get along with them…
‘Shopping together, having tea… What else do they do? Maybe some drinking? Watching plays?’
Come to think of it, the activities friends do together weren’t all that different from what she was familiar with in Korea. Making friends didn’t seem like a bad idea. She could share secrets with them that she couldn’t with Ysildus or Terrun, and perhaps gain a more objective perspective than the constant praise she got from the others.
Besides, if she were to leave the estate and go out into the world, it would be nice to have friends she could meet to stave off loneliness. There might even be book clubs or other such gatherings in this world. With this in mind, Alexa got up, deciding to ask Essellia about it.
“I should go see Lady Essellia. Where is Her Grace now?”
“By now...” Selina smiled bashfully, “She’s probably at the stables.”
At Selina’s words, Alexa grabbed her outerwear. She made sure to wrap herself tightly in the cloak made from the fur of the white bear they had hunted. It was astonishingly light and warm. The wolves didn’t feel the cold, so all the pelts they hunted were given to Alexa. After donning her ermine fur shoes, she finally stepped outside. If she went out lightly dressed, there was a good chance she’d return with a new pelt, along with all kinds of worries.
[‘You’re not wearing those old shoes because they’re worn out, are you, Alexa? By the way, we have some new pelts…’]
[‘Didn’t like the color of that cloak, did you? Well, shouldn’t a young lady have at least three outer garments?’]
Those were roughly the kinds of comments she’d hear. The Duke’s family’s overprotectiveness was growing more intense by the day. Alexa braved the light snow as she headed outside. It was nice to get some fresh air, she thought. But as she walked toward the stables, she noticed a group of wolves huddled together, exuding a menacing aura. Feeling something was off, Alexa stopped in her tracks.
“Miss Alexa?”
Selina called to her kindly. Was it just her imagination, or was there a hint of excitement in Selina’s voice, as if she were urging Alexa to go on?
