I Became the Villain's Trainer-Chapter 67
Chapter 67
Having seen through his secret, Ysildus glared at Lunailliah with a murderous intent. However, his face was filled with smiles.
“You look a lot like Carlisle.”
Lunailliah smiled gently and tapped the back of Alexa’s hand.
“There’s only one reason Karrolf sent you to me: for you to live among the wolves.”
“Me, living among the wolves...?”
“To put it simply, I know how a human can become a wolf.”
Stars twinkled in Lunailliah’s eyes. It was the gaze of someone who had reached the truth at the world’s end – the eyes of one who was once human, became a wolf, and then a god. A strange sense of holiness seemed to wash over Alexa. Through Lunailliah’s hand, the universe flowed into her. She found herself standing alone before an immense cosmos. The stars in the vast night sky orbited around her, with a violet aura adorning the heavens.
Alexa’s pupils dilated.
“Did you see it?”
Alexa was pulled back to reality by Lunailliah’s voice.
“What did you see?”
“…”
Alexa shook her head, unable to answer.
“That is the end of the world, Alexa. That is the place you must go to shed your human skin and be reborn as a wolf.”
“I’m content as I am now.”
“Perhaps someday it will be necessary. I can tell you how to get there, so come and see me when you’re ready to hear it.”
As the short tale was coming to a close, Tenail returned with milk mixed with honey. While Alexa, Ysildus and Terrun drank it, Lunailliah began telling her story.
“I’ll tell you my story today. Karrolf would have wanted you to know the origin of wolves, the beginning of this world, and the race of darkness. Karrolf is a rare doctor that delves into the origin of life.”
“He is a remarkable person,” Alexa said, keeping the darker aspects of his legacy.
“Yes. He did commit wrongs, but he gave the world something greater in return. Therefore, I don’t condemn him. I just leave it as history.”
Lunailliah began her story. Her calm voice flowed like a melody. Lunailliah’s tale was uninterrupted but neither particularly interesting nor skillfully told. It was merely gentle and soothing, like a lullaby drifting into one’s ears. By the time Lunailliah finished, the sun was setting slowly.
“The essence of life is one, Alexa. You need to understand that in order to become a doctor for the wolves.”
With that, Lunailliah’s story ended. Up until now, Karrolf had taught Alexa about the differences between humans and werewolves. This time, however, it seemed he was aiming to teach about the origins of life. Alexa bowed to her, then tugged on the sleeves of Ysildus and Terrun, who lacked any manners, to make them bow as well.
“Thank you, Lunailliah.”
“Come visit again next time. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.”
Alexa nodded. In truth, she had a mountain of questions. How did Lunailliah know she came from another world, and what was the story behind the traitor? What exactly is the method for a human to become a wolf? But that conversation would not happen today.
“See you next time, Lunailliah.”
Alexa spoke briskly and then left the cabin. Lunailliah, who had walked her to the door, had the weight of the years on her face. Memories she had long forgotten began to resurface vividly.
“Mother, are you thinking of turning that child into a wolf?”
“Well... that’s also that child’s choice. But fate is pointing to that child – the child who became this world’s main character due to a mistake made by the Grim Reapers.”
“… I don’t understand what you’re saying.”
“The Grim Reapers rewrote fate to correct their mistakes. Death will always be by that child’s side.”
Even though he had spent his whole life with Lunailliah, he still couldn’t see what she saw. Tenail shook his head and opened the cabin door.
“Please go inside. It’s cold.”
Lunailliah turned her body. Seeing Alexa reminded her of Dephensores and her past. Wolves with memories were being born, wolves inheriting everything from their parents – from Carlisle to Ysildus. What this means is still unclear. Lunailliah sighed deeply. Even after living through those years, there were still things she did not know. The world that Dephensores had prepared for her was vast and expansive.
‘Dephensores, you’re coming, right?’
Today, she really wanted to see her lover who had left her alone in this world.
(T/N: I’m kinda scared of Alexa’s future *shiver*)

Terrun pulled the shivering Selina out of the carriage. Though it wasn’t a kind gesture, he took her to her room as requested by Alexa. After looking at Selina with a look of disdain, Terrun turned away. He felt a peculiar aversion whenever he looked at Selina.
It was as she was curling up in bed that Selina noticed a small package on her table. The package was labeled with Ruella’s name. It seemed the maids had left it for her. With a face full of joy, Selina snatched up the package. Since it wasn’t the end of her shift, the maid who shared the room with her was not present. Selina eagerly tore open the package.
‘I wasn’t abandoned!’
Inside the box was a small vial, filled with blue powder. Selina knew what this meant right away.
‘Poison...!’
Selina had finally obtained what she had been wishing for. She could finally kill Alexa. Of course, there was no guarantee that killing Alexa would secure her position. But it meant there was a chance... wasn’t that what Ruella wanted? That was enough reason for Selina to kill Alexa. Sliding the vial into her sleeve, Selina wore a satisfied smile. The fear and chills she had felt earlier seemed to vanish in an instant. With a joyful heart, Selina curled up in bed.

After having a late dinner, Ysildus and Alexa sat down at the chessboard. They lit candles to brighten the room and started a fire in the fireplace. Inside the well-insulated room, where no draft could intrude, Alexa and Ysildus carefully moved their pieces. The process of teaching Ysildus chess and enjoying the game together had been quite pleasant.
“I won.”

Alexa raised both hands with a beaming face. She had just barely managed to beat Ysildus, who had been winning all along. In truth, Alexa wasn’t particularly good at chess either. Maybe she’d have fared better at Go-Stop*. With a mischievous smile, she playfully tapped Ysildus’ forehead as she had when he was a pup.
(T/N: Go-Stop (or 고스톱) is a traditional Korean card game played with a deck of flower cards called Hwatu. The game involves matching cards to score points, and players can win by accumulating enough points through various combinations and strategies. It’s often played in social settings and is known for its strategic depth and the excitement of its betting mechanics.)
Feeling the sting on his forehead, Ysildus looked up with a smile. He rested his cheek against Alexa’s palm. Every time he does this, it reminds her of when he was a young wolf. The habit of leaning in like this remains unchanged.
“Ysildus still looks like a puppy to me.”
“Puppy? I am a wolf.”
“Ugh, I miss the puppy Ysildus. He was really cute.”
“You can just look at me. Am I not cute?”
Ysildus tilted his head as he looked at Alexa. His expression was just like it was when he was a baby wolf.
“Cute! You’re so cute!”
Alexa giggled and patted Ysildus’ hair. When she read the original novel, she thought Ysildus was a bit frightening. As a descendant of the villainous family, his actions were harsh and he didn’t hesitate to use force regarding Selina. However, there was no trace of that in the current Ysildus.
Does childhood really matter that much? In the original story, Ysildus had a tragic childhood, having lost his parents and spent his early years in the battlefield. Moreover, the Emperor had been relentlessly trying to kill Ysildus because his absence was crucial for the complete downfall of Thersion.
But, the people of Thersion did everything they could to protect Ysildus, even at the risk of their own lives. In fact, Terrun’s eye injury in the original story was a result of protecting Ysildus. At that time, Ysildus was still just a wolf cub and hadn’t assumed a human form. The Emperor, aware of this, sent mercenaries to kill Ysildus. During that period, the Grand Duke and his wife were on the battlefield.
‘But now, the Grand Duke and his elite knights are all here.’
Because of that, although it seemed unlikely that the Emperor would make a dangerous attempt, considering the deep-seated hatred, the possibility seemed high. Perhaps Ysildus became twisted because of the Emperor. Alexa felt a bit uneasy. She didn’t know exactly when the mercenary would cross the Thersion wall.
“Ysildus.”
“Mm?”
“I’ll protect you,” Alexa whispered.
