I Became the Villain's Trainer-Chapter 58
Chapter 58

Ysildus squinted his eyes. He turned his head toward Terrun and saw Alexa sleeping. Ysildus frowned and gently tugged Alexa’s body closer. Alexa turned around to find a more comfortable position.
“… Shameless.”
Terrun murmured and turned his body away. A laugh escaped Ysildus’ lips and kicked Terrun in his shin. Terrun yelped and recoiled. Well, it’s only when these foolish wolves experience pain that they understand what it means.
Ysildus brushed back the hair that had fallen onto Alexa’s cheek. Alexa’s rounded cheeks, tightly shut eyes, and fine baby hairs made her look almost like a younger sister caught between Ysildus and Terrun, given her smaller build compared to the wolves. But despite her youth, she took on the role of an adult…
Ysildus continued to play with Alexa’s hair, fidgeting with it. He had been awake for a long time, but he just didn’t want to get up. From inside the room came the sound of Alexa flipping through a book. He listened quietly to her soft breathing in between the rustling. Even though the troublesome Essellia had shown up, it had been quite an enjoyable time.
When Alexa asked about Ysildus and Terrun’s training, he almost burst out laughing. Ysildus gazed at Alexa with endlessly soft eyes. Her innocent cheek was gently pressed against his fingers.
Alexa still did not remember that day – the day that had been a turning point for Ysildus. The day when the arrogant Selina had tried to harm Alexa. However, Ysildus understood the necessity of Selina.

Carlisle probably knew about it too, that’s why he left her as it is. Selina smelled unpleasant and sticky. Ysidus could instinctively detect that scent. It was quite enjoyable for him to see Alexa tense up and fret over Selina.
It wasn’t easy to see Alexa like that. Her childhood was quickly fading away – four years for Alexa and six for Ysildus. He intended to make the most of the time.
“Good night, Alexa.”
Ysildus whispered softly to Alexa, who was deeply lost in the sweetness of her nap.
(T/N: If I remember correctly, Alexa is 14 now so 4 years later, she would be 18. Terrun and Ysildus seemed to be the same age, so if Terrun is 14 now, Ysildus would be 20 six years later. I don’t remember it clearly lol feel free to correct me if I’m wrong.)

For the first time in a while, Visten called Alexa. This time, it was with Carlisle’s approval. Carlisle expressed his desire to acquire a trading company. It meant expanding Thersion’s territory. This was a very serious issue. Acquiring a trading company is not a problem with Thersion’s current financial resources, but choosing which company to take over was another matter.
Even if they did acquire a trading company, it wouldn’t mean fully integrating them into Thersion. They would likely just have intermediaries to handle communications and report back, or they might send someone to verify the situation directly. But the real question was why Carlisle had decided to pursue this.
Visten glanced at Carlisle, well aware that asking directly wouldn’t yield answers. Clearing his throat, he looked at Alexa, who was enjoying a cup of warm chocolate tea, personally prepared by the Head Butler just for her.
“Alexa?”
“Yes?”
Alexa smiled brightly. Her smile today was as fresh as ever. She truly was the salt and light of Visten’s life. It made him wonder why he didn’t realize it before. After seeing Terrun, who had been grumbling about and dissatisfied these days, seeing Alexa was purifying. Visten couldn’t help but smile as he spoke.
“I hear you’ve been studying hard lately.”
“Yes, it was fun.”
“Studying is fun...”
He wished Terrun would be at least half interested in books as she is. Of course, Terrun would become a knight, unlike Visten, but he still needed to cultivate some refinement… Sometimes, it made Visten wonder if Karrolf was so devoted to Alexa that he would drop everything just to be with her. Shaking his head to dispel these pointless thoughts, Visten reminded himself that now wasn’t the time for such musings.
“Alexa, I’m here today because I need your advice.”
“Plese, go ahead.”
Alexa said calmly.
“Thersion intends to acquire a trading company. It was the Grand Duke’s will.”
Alexa stared at Carlisle, who sat calmly like a still life. Since Carlisle’s return, so much has changed. The road and canal projects that Alexa and Visten had started were now moving forward rapidly toward completion. Carlisle had taken over and mobilized the knights to finish the construction.
Bridges had been built over the rivers that the wolves had to wade through, and all the litter and waste that used to clutter the streets were being dealt with at the incineration plant.
Even the wolves, who had initially been lazy, were swiftly subdued once Carlisle took charge. According to Karrolf, the streets had become noticeably cleaner than before. Now, Carlisle was turning his attention to acquiring a trading company. In novels, Ysildus also reached out to trading companies. It was a strategy to expand Thersion’s influence, gather information from outside the territory, and consolidate power.
‘Is Carlisle... following the same path as the novel’s Ysildus?’
Alexa’s heart sank. If Carlisle desires the Emperor’s throne, ‘Then what will become of Ysildus?’
Alexa clasped her hands together. She felt as if cold sweat was gathering between her palms. It was only now that she truly understood how arrogant and dangerous it was to intervene in a story and try to change fate. With a pale face, Alexa turned to look at Carlisle.
“Why are you looking at me like that?”
“I...”
Alexa swallowed her saliva with great difficulty and shook her head. She buried her head in the papers to look over the trading companies. With fate already changed, all she could do now was hope for the best. She would make the same choice even if she could go back in time. It was the only way to save Essellia and Carlisle!
This place was no longer a novel to Alexa, but her reality. She knew that the people living here had red blood flowing in them, so how could she just stand by and watch the two people die?
Having lost her parents before, Alexa knew how difficult and painful it was. Ysildus might not know this, but in the novel, he lost the fence that protected him and was thrown into the war. He was still a child in need of protection. Alexa had experienced something similar.
Alexa was suddenly thrown into the world, having to learn how to soak rice and cook soup on her own. She cries herself to sleep in a house with no one to comfort her. No one would ever come back. No one to take care of her when she was sick and suffering through the night.
Knowing that kind of loneliness, she couldn’t bear Ysildus or Terrun to suffer such sorrow.
‘Don’t regret, Alexa. Don’t be afraid.’
There’s nothing scarier than death. Alexa took a deep breath, calming herself. Her gaze at the documents became more composed. With no way to turn back and no regrets about her choices, the only thing she could do was to make the best decisions moving forward. She hoped that the future, which had been altered by her actions, would still be better for everyone here. Alexa’s mind was becoming tangled with thoughts. If Carlisle followed the path to becoming an Emperor and actually succeeded…
‘Ysildus will remind a Duke. That’s not bad either.’
In reality, Ysildus wasn’t particularly ambitious about the throne. He was more focused on spending time with Selina, showing a beastly, instinctual side rather than a desire for power. Yet, to survive, he had to become an Emperor. Of course, things could unfold differently.
The story had often drawn parallels between Carlisle and Ysildus. Given that, it was possible Carlisle might not be thrilled about becoming an Emperor either. It might be better to make Ysildus the Emperor and have Carlisle become a Duke instead. But Alexa couldn’t be certain about what choices would be made.
‘In any case, the cards drawn must be in Thersion’s favor.’
When she had previously written about those involved in the rebellion for Visten, she had carefully chosen which names to include. She listed only those who could be swayed to support Thersion and left out the others.
It wasn’t too difficult to make these distinctions. Even in the story, there were descriptions of the bat-like figures who shifted their allegiance after Ysildus returned from the battlefield.
Ysildus had created a list of names of the traitors, and Alexa had noted the names at the very top of that list. Given Carlisle’s similar disposition to Ysildus, she believed he would recognize the intent behind it. She considered Carlisle’s tendencies and approached the situation with that in mind.
