I Became the Villainess, But My Beast Husbands Can Hear My Mind?!-Chapter 94: A Dog Too Violent and a Cat Too Lazy (2)
"That’s not true!" Calen protested. "I will protect her! I will fight for her! What do you even do besides sleeping all day?"
"I watch over her," Luan replied calmly.
The two of them glared at each other, sparks almost flying between their eyes.
Roxanna let out a tired sigh. "Enough," she said, pressing a hand to her temple. "Both of you."
"You’re arguing over something pointless," she continued. "Alright, none of you will be coming with me."
Roxanna then set Luan down on the ground, and the black cat immediately protested. "What? That’s not fair! Why are you punishing me because of this dog?!"
"Because you’re being mean again, Luan," Roxanna said calmly. "Like I told you before, don’t say hurtful things to your family."
Luan froze for a moment. His ears drooped slightly, and his tail slowed its movement.
Luan finally fell silent, because what Roxanna said was completely true. Still, he couldn’t help himself. He had spoken harshly his entire life, and being gentle didn’t come naturally to him.
But since his wife disliked it, he had to try and change. Even so, how was he supposed to stay calm when that annoying dog kept pushing his limits?
When Calen and Luan accidentally met each other’s eyes, they both quickly looked away, clearly not wanting to face one another.
"Alright, that’s enough," Roxanna said. "Both of you stay inside the hut until I come back with the others." She walked to the door, then turned back before closing it. "And don’t fight too much, or I’ll make you sleep together in the special room tonight."
Calen and Luan opened their mouths to protest, but the door was already closed.
[Host, are you their wife or their mother?] the system asked. [You keep telling them what to do and what not to do, just like a mother.]
Roxanna spoke out loud since no one else was around. "Then what am I supposed to do? Let them fight all the time?"
[No. But maybe you need to find a new way to help them calm down.]
"Like what?" Roxanna asked, narrowing her eyes as the system started to sound suspicious.
[Do something a wife usually does,] the system replied. [Calm them down with your special kiss!]
Roxanna sighed. She had already expected the system to come up with something ridiculous. How could kissing someone possibly calm them down?
Besides, she had never kissed Zeir before. Damn it, that was right! She had never kissed him, even though she had kissed her other husbands.
It wasn’t fair, but why hadn’t Zeir made the first move either?
[Maybe he wants you to make the first move. Then after that, you can try your magic kiss on all of them!]
"I don’t have a magic kiss," she muttered, quickly lowering her voice when she saw Commander Marlow walking toward her.
Before she could greet him, the system spoke again.
[Ding! Ding!]
[Side Mission Activated: Complete the Kiss Set!]
[Goal: Kiss Zeir on the lips!]
[Reward: Bond Rings — Effect: Trust and cooperation increase naturally (Can be wedding rings).]
Wedding rings?
Roxanna had never expected to have something like wedding rings in this kind of world. She hadn’t even seen any rings when she scrolled through the system’s market.
[Can these rings also help strengthen my husbands’ bond? Maybe make them stop fighting so much?] Roxanna asked in her mind.
[It won’t work instantly, but the rings will help your bond grow faster. Still, it will take time.]
No wonder the effect said trust and cooperation would increase naturally. But honestly, Roxanna didn’t care how long it took. As long as she could find a way to make her husbands get along, that was already more than enough.
"Leader, the five men are waiting for you in the function hut," Commander Marlow said. "But you probably already know that, don’t you?"
Roxanna chuckled softly. "Yes. My husbands just went there after washing up and changing their clothes."
"Honestly, I’m really impressed," Commander Marlow said. "How can you have five husbands, and every one of them is strong? For God’s sake, if your evil twin sister had allowed them to become warriors, they could have protected this settlement much better."
But the real question was... would they even want to?
Back then, they were brought here by force, either bought as slaves or taken randomly. Because of that, Roxanna wasn’t sure her husbands would willingly protect this settlement. Maybe the evil Roxanna understood that too, which was why she never let them work as warriors in the first place.
"They really are a blessing to me," Roxanna said with a soft smile. "They were able to accept me so quickly, even though I have the same face as the one who hurt them. That’s truly amazing."
If Roxanna were in their position—meeting a kind person, but that person had the same face as her abusive ex-husband—she knew she would struggle to accept them. No matter how kind they were, their faces would still bring back painful memories.
Did her husbands ever feel that way too? Oh, wait. Calen had acted like that once, but that was only because he wasn’t in the right state of mind at the time.
How about at certain times? She wasn’t sure, but they must have thought that way at least once or twice.
Maybe she had to change her appearance a little—not something extreme, but at least so she didn’t look exactly like the evil Roxanna.
But how? Changing her hairstyle, probably.
While she was thinking, without realizing it, she had already arrived at the functional hut. All of the future commanders were already waiting for her inside, and they were sitting calmly even though not long ago they had been on the battlefield together.
The moment Roxanna stepped inside, all eyes turned toward her, and Zeir was the first person she noticed. Her cheeks suddenly turned red because she remembered the system’s side mission from earlier.
[I don’t know whether I can kiss Zeir first or not,] Roxanna thought. [But I hope he won’t mind.]
