I became the God Brother of the Regent King after Transmigration!-Chapter 159 - 107: Embrace_3
Rong Heng saw her regain consciousness, and suddenly felt reluctant to let go of his arm.
He suppressed the turmoil in his eyes and shook his head.
Gu Lan reached out a hand still dripping with fresh blood, lost in thought.
Just moments ago, when she saw Rong Heng get hurt saving her, she lost her mind, only wanting to kill everyone who had harmed her.
Gu Lan suffered from this flaw ever since she was an assassin.
Once, her targets were four human traffickers at the border, along with the "cargo" in their truck.
She chased them for three days until the pickup they were driving ran out of fuel and broke down on the edge of the desert.
Those scoundrels knew how terrifying Gu Lan was; she was a perfect assassin who had never failed a mission in that organization.
They also knew that anyone who became her target was doomed to die.
So, those people, knowing they were doomed, detonated a long-hidden bomb on the truck before Gu Lan could react.
There were dozens of women and children in that vehicle.
Right in front of her eyes, flesh and blood scattered.
Those were the "cargo" she had decided to bring back, among there was a woman who was her only friend in the organization. It was thanks to the chip in the woman’s body that she managed to track them down.
Gu Lan stood amidst the ruins, picked up the remnant chip from the ground, and clenched it in her palm.
The women had been blown to pieces, yet the chip remained intact.
Then, Gu Lan alone located the traffickers’ stronghold, infiltrated it, leaving no person alive, regardless of gender. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚
Until a little girl, who survived the explosion because her brother held her protectively, stumbled out, and only then did Gu Lan seem to come to her senses.
"Don’t be afraid, I’ll take you home." She softened her voice, smiled, and approached the little girl, intending to lift her up.
Yet, the child shook her head, stared at her blood-covered figure, and fearfully backed away.
Gu Lan looked at her own hands, thinking they must be too dirty.
She quickly found a clean cloth to wipe them down, and reached out to the little girl with open arms.
The child ultimately did not allow her embrace.
Gu Lan remembered, such situations were rare, there was another time when a mistake in mission assignment sent her alone to kill ten targets deserving of death.
Who has ever experienced killing from dusk till dawn?
Excessive slaughter and the harm to cherished things would make her lose control.
Looking at Rong Heng before her, Gu Lan asked, "Are you not afraid of me?"
Rong Heng rolled his eyes, showing her his clean clothes stained with her blood just because he held her.
Gu Lan thought, so he wasn’t afraid of her.
So, she could be hugged.
So, she already considered Rong Heng a very precious person.
Seeing Gu Lan come to her senses, Rong Heng finally breathed a sigh of relief.
The Gu Lan before him seemed as if she’d just been dredged up from a sea of blood; Rong Heng knew she wasn’t injured, but it was because of him that she had become like this.
"Gu Lan, ultimately I harmed you."
After he spoke, his tense nerves finally relaxed, and suddenly his vision went black, and he collapsed before Gu Lan.
Gu Lan quickly caught him, scrambling to check his breath, examining him all over.
His breathing was steady, and the injured shoulder had been treated, surprisingly efficiently, by himself at some point, which amazed Gu Lan.
Rong Heng claimed he could self-medicate as a doctor, and indeed he could.
Then why did he faint?
