Chapter 438: Chapter 438 Cute and handsome

Dante watched from just behind her, his arms relaxed at his sides. His face was hard to read at first, but if you looked closely, you could see a softness there, something proud and deeply tender in the way his eyes stayed on the little boy. "It suits you," he added, his voice calm and steady. "You look very handsome little one"

That only made the blush on Sable’s cheeks deepen. He ducked his head again, hiding his face for a second, but this time, a tiny, helpless smile tugged at the very corner of his mouth. He took one small, shuffling step closer to Alina, as if standing near her made all the attention feel safer, and whispered, "Lucien is still changing..."

"I know," Alina said gently. She brushed her thumb over the small knuckles of his hand in a soft, reassuring touch. "You can wait right here with me."

Sable nodded. A quiet sigh of relief seemed to go through him, and the tightness in his little shoulders eased. He stayed right there beside her.

Lucien came out a moment later, the curtain parting softly as he stepped into view. He wore a light gray shirt that made his dark hair and eyes stand out even more, the clean color giving him a gentle, almost delicate look. He didn’t rush forward like most children would. Instead, he walked a few careful steps, then stopped, fingers brushing his sleeve as if checking whether everything was sitting right. His eyes lifted toward Alina, hesitant and quietly hopeful.

Alina actually froze for half a second.

She hadn’t expected this.

Her breath caught, and her face softened completely as she took him in, not even trying to hide the awe in her eyes. He looked so pretty, so neat and composed, like a little gentleman who had wandered out of a picture book. When he finally spoke, his voice was low and shy, almost unsure.

"Does it... look good?" he asked.

Her smile broke over her face immediately, wide and honest and sun-bright. She crouched down right in front of him, moving carefully, and reached out to gently straighten the line of his sleeve, her fingers smoothing a tiny, imaginary wrinkle. "Very good," she said, her voice warm as a blanket. "You look so cute. And so very handsome."

The tips of Lucien’s ears flushed a deep, immediate pink.

She leaned back just a little to take all of him in, her eyes still shining. "Perfect," she stated, as if it were a simple fact. Then she turned her head, just a bit, to include Sable who was standing quietly beside her. "Right, Sable?"

Sable blinked, surprised and visibly delighted to be asked. His whole face lit up, a glow of pride spreading over his features as if she had given him a very important job. He looked at Lucien, studying him with great seriousness for a long moment, before breaking into a wide, unstoppable grin. "You look super handsome," he declared. Then, with great enthusiasm, he added the best word he knew: "And stunning!"

Lucien stared at him for one silent heartbeat... and then a laugh burst out of him. It was a bright, clear sound, completely different from his usual quiet tone. "Stunning?" he repeated, his eyes crinkling with amusement. "Really?"

Sable nodded, his whole body rocking with the earnest movement. "Yes!"

Alina chuckled, the sound soft and fond. "You remembered that word," she said.

Lucien’s laughter settled into a warm smile as he glanced at Alina. "That’s the word Auntie used for you," he said, looking pleased with himself for making the connection.

Dante, who had been watching it all from a few steps away, shook his head slowly. A small, undeniable smile touched his lips, and his eyes held a warmth that softened his entire face as he watched the boys.

Sable’s proud expression slowly melted into one of gentle confusion. He tilted his head to the side, his small brows drawing together. "Is... stunning a good word?" he asked, his voice full of genuine curiosity. "Is it for compliment right?"

Before Alina could answer, Lucien turned to him. His smile was gentle now, patient and a little protective. "Yes," he explained, his voice calm and sure. "It means someone looks very, very nice. Like... so nice that you can’t help but notice right away."

Understanding dawned on Sable’s face, bright and clear. "Oh," he said, the sound full of satisfaction. Then he gave a firm, decisive nod, as if confirming a vital piece of information to the world. "Then I said it right."

Alina’s heart swelled, so full of affection it felt too big for her chest. Oh, god, she thought, watching them. They both are so unbearably adorable.

The saleswoman, who had been hovering nearby with a stack of neatly folded clothes, couldn’t hold back any longer. She had been watching the whole scene with a soft smile, but Sable’s serious little compliment and Lucien’s calm, patient explanation had completely charmed her. She pressed a hand lightly to her chest and took a small step closer, her face glowing with a kind of warm amazement.

"Oh my goodness," she said, her voice rich with wonder. "Both your little ones are so very clever." She shook her head slowly, her eyes dancing between the two boys. "The way he explained that word just now..." she added, nodding toward Lucien with admiration, "that’s not something you hear every day from someone so small."

Sable straightened up instinctively at the praise, his small shoulders lifting with a hint of quiet pride. Lucien looked down at the carpet, a shy smile touching his lips, clearly pleased but trying very hard to keep his composure.

The woman’s smile grew even wider. "You know, my cousin has a boy about the same age as this sweet one," she said, gesturing gently toward Sable. "But he’s mostly a whirlwind—running everywhere, shouting, tossing his toys about." She laughed softly, the sound fond and not at all mean. "I don’t think I’ve ever seen little ones who are so calm and who speak so thoughtfully."
