Chapter 376: Chapter 376 Spell (2)

Meanwhile, Rocky was studying quietly at his little desk. His notebook lay open in front of him, and he tapped his pencil gently against the page while sneaking nervous glances at his mother. Queen Granite sat beside him, reading a thick history book with calm elegance, unaware of the emotional earthquake happening inside her son.

Boo had taught them the "memory spell."

A... questionable spell.

A spell Rocky very badly wanted to try.

But saying it out loud in front of his mother?

Impossible.

He would rather turn into a rock and roll away.

So he clutched his book to his chest, cheeks warming, and stared so hard at his math problems that his eyes crossed.

He inhaled deeply.

Should he chant the spell?

...No.

Mom was right there.

What if she heard him say blurp blurp?

He would die on the spot.

Instead, Rocky tried something clever.

Something strategic.

Something Boo would call "stealthy smart work."

"Mom," he whispered suddenly, turning to her with wide innocent eyes, "do you... feel thirsty?"

Queen Granite blinked in surprise. "Thirsty? No, sweetheart. Why?"

Rocky straightened his posture like a little gentleman. "You... you should drink a cup of water. It’s good for health."

Queen Granite smiled warmly at her polite son. "How caring you are." She called a maid immediately, took a sip of water, and patted his head. "There, I drank. Happy?"

Rocky nodded, but inside he deflated.

Her drink was too fast.

He needed more time alone for his spell practice.

Two minutes later, Rocky looked up again with deep seriousness.

"Mom... are you hungry?"

Queen Granite raised a brow. "Hungry? I just drank water."

"You should eat... a snack," Rocky said gravely, as if announcing something medically urgent. "Very important. For strength."

Queen Granite blinked at him, confused but amused. She called the maid again and got snacks brought to the table. "There. Snacks are here. Anything else?"

Rocky swallowed hard.

No privacy yet.

Spell still trapped in his heart like forbidden poetry.

He took a deep breath.

Ten more minutes passed.

He fidgeted in his chair, tapping his fingers nervously. His mother glanced at him, noticing his unusual stiffness.

"Rocky," she said gently, "are you alright? Is studying hard today?"

Rocky nodded too quickly. "Yes... but also no... but also yes."

Queen Granite closed her book slowly. "Little pebble... what is bothering you?"

Rocky’s face turned the color of wet clay. His little hands twisted together.

Finally, he whispered, "Mom... c-can you... go somewhere?"

Queen Granite stared at him. "Go somewhere? Where?"

"Somewhere far," Rocky said shyly, eyes dropping to his desk. "Just... for two minutes."

Queen Granite leaned in, concerned. "Why? Are you hiding something? Are you scared? Are you feeling unwell?"

Rocky shook his head furiously. "No! No! I just... I just... need to do something." He swallowed, cheeks burning. "Something... private."

Queen Granite blinked.

Private?

She softened instantly. Maybe her little pebble needed a moment alone to adjust, relax, or take a break from studying. She stood up, placing a gentle kiss on his forehead.

"Of course, sweetheart. Mama will step outside. Call me if you need anything."

Rocky nodded rapidly, guilt and relief mixing inside his chest.

The moment she left and closed the door, Rocky exhaled like he had carried a mountain.

He placed both hands on the desk.

Closed his eyes.

And with all seriousness in the world, he whispered:

"Blorp blorp... brain get smart... Boo said so..."

He paused.

Listened.

Then whispered again, louder:

"Genius come... memory appear... Rocky become top student... please..."

Outside the room, Queen Granite—who had paused just beyond the door—slowly narrowed her eyes, trying to understand why her pebble was chanting to his notebook.

Rocky, oblivious, continued softly:

"Rocky brain... turn on... please..."

Queen Granite sighed deeply.

So Boo had taught them something. That mischievous baby ghost!

When she walked back in, Rocky immediately sat up straight and pretended he was solving math like a scholar.

"Rocky?" she said gently.

"Yes, Mother?" Rocky squeaked.

Queen Granite smiled softly. "Next time... if you need privacy to chant baby spells... you can just tell me, sweetheart."

Rocky turned solid stone-gray in embarrassment.

"Mom! You’re not supposed to hear!!" he squeaked.

He looked like someone had caught him dancing alone in the bathroom. His little hands flew to his face, and his stone-patterned cheeks flushed a deeper shade as he curled his toes and hunched his shoulders.

Queen Granite chuckled softly, the warm sound filling the room. She sat beside him again with the grace of a queen and the affection of a mother who found her pebble absolutely adorable.

"I heard accidentally," she said, brushing a hand over his head. "But what is this baby spell you were chanting, hmm?"

Rocky nearly melted into his chair. "Mom... it’s... it’s nothing."

Queen Granite lifted a brow. "It didn’t sound like nothing."

Rocky covered his face with both hands. "Mom... please... pretend you heard nothing."

"But sweetheart," she said, gently removing his hands from his face, "I am very curious. What spell were you using? Why were you chanting about your brain turning on?"

Rocky’s shoulders collapsed.

He looked left.

He looked right.

He looked at his notebook like it had betrayed him.

Finally he whispered, "Boo taught us a spell... for remembering things."

Queen Granite blinked. "A spell? For studying?"

Rocky nodded sheepishly. "He called it... Smart Boost. Or... or Genius Blorp Blorp. I... I don’t remember the exact name." He winced as soon as he said it.

Queen Granite’s lips twitched. "Genius... blorp blorp?"

Rocky hid behind his notebook again. "Mom, don’t repeat it! I will cry!"

Queen Granite tried not to laugh, but a soft snort escaped. "Sweetheart, is this why you wanted me to leave the room earlier? To chant... blorp blorp?"

Rocky nodded without looking up. "Yes... Mom... it is very embarrassing spell. Only Boo can say it confidently."

"And did... the spell work?" she asked, smiling.

Rocky lifted his little face, eyes large and sincere. "YES! I remembered what I studied!" He paused. "I mean, maybe because teacher helped me. BUT ALSO maybe because Boo’s spell worked too."

Queen Granite placed her hand over her mouth to hide her growing laugh. "So my pebble believes in Boo’s magic?"

Rocky nodded solemnly. "Boo is... powerful. Scary powerful."

Queen Granite chuckled softly and pulled him into a warm hug. "My silly, adorable pebble. You don’t need magic spells. You’re already smart."

Rocky’s eyes softened, chest swelling with pride.

Then he whispered, "Can we... keep this a secret? I don’t want Dad to know I said blorp blorp."

Queen Granite nodded with a gentle smile. "Of course. Our little secret."

Rocky sighed in relief and immediately muttered under his breath, "Blorp blorp... thank you Mom."

Queen Granite pretended not to hear that one.
