I Am Your Natural Enemy-Chapter 506 - 205: Entanglement, Together Forever (5k)
"I just woke up. Yesterday I secretly played a side-scrolling game for half an hour, but now I’m busy with rehab training."
Lin Jue didn’t think much of it. His friends all shared the same hobbies as him.
Those who loved starting businesses, going clubbing, or doing extreme sports just couldn’t hang out the same way.
"Any new games out lately?"
"Nothing fun. There was one game I was really looking forward to. It had just launched, but then the game company folded."
"That actually happens?!" Lin Jue was a bit shocked. It hit him that while he’d been trapped in the Netherworld, he’d missed out on a lot of things.
A few like-minded friends, eating and chatting together, made for a happy gathering.
After dinner, everyone went home. Since Lin Jue was still in recovery, he couldn’t be out for too long.
Nan Yuncai offered to drive Lin Jue home. On the way, he finally spoke up, acting all mysterious.
"I recently found a really unique game."
"What game?"
"Have you heard of Professionals?"
"Hmm, yeah, I’ve heard of it. Why?"
"The game I’m talking about was developed by a Professional. It’s crazy realistic."
Lin Jue’s expression shifted. Of course, he knew much more about it—he was even one of the first players to enter the Netherworld.
And he was probably the first one who couldn’t make it back because his Soul Clothing was just too shoddy.
He’d spent far too much time inside. In terms of online hours, to be blunt, no other player could compare to him.
Other players could only enter the Netherworld for a few hours a day at most, but he stayed over there twenty-four seven. If Brother Wen was even a little late replenishing his stamina, he’d be doomed.
Seeing that his friend was getting drawn to the Netherworld, Lin Jue hesitated, then decided to warn him.
"I’ve heard of that game. I heard it’s super dangerous."
"Oh, you’ve heard of it, huh."
"Yeah, my family told me. They said it’s really dangerous and strictly banned me from playing it. If I so much as touched it, they’d cut off my bank cards and kick me out of the house."
Nan Yuncai looked enlightened. Lin Jue’s family had money and connections, so it wasn’t strange for them to know certain things.
He felt a bit disappointed. With that level of warning, Lin Jue probably wouldn’t dare try it again.
But he was still unwilling to give up, and tempted him one more time.
"You really don’t want to try it? I guarantee it’s revolutionary, way better than any game out there. And, come on, it’s just a game."
Normally, Lin Jue probably wouldn’t have thought twice; there’s a good chance he would have tried it.
But now, he really knew just how dangerous the Netherworld was.
He tried to persuade sincerely.
"Take my advice—it’s super dangerous. My family told me a bunch of people have already died because of it.
If it wasn’t really that dangerous, my family wouldn’t threaten to cut off my money and kick me out just to keep me from playing.
Didn’t you always say you wanted a kid? Maybe just play it safe for now."
After a brush with death, Lin Jue had grown more cautious, starting to advise friends to put family first and not go looking for trouble.
Nan Yuncai nodded regretfully.
"What a shame. It really is a game from a whole new era..."
Lin Jue shook his head and didn’t say more—he knew it was hard to talk someone out of it.
Just like him back then, nothing stopped him until he got burned badly enough to cool off.
After he got home, Lin Jue kept thinking it over—considering his own experience, he felt he should try again to warn his friend.
If it was anything else, whatever, but they were friends. He couldn’t just watch him run into danger and maybe mess up his life.
But chatting on Feixin, the more they talked, the more off Lin Jue felt.
Nan Yuncai seemed almost like a different person.
He’d known Nan Yuncai for years, ever since a friend’s wedding.
Nan Yuncai was his friend’s husband, a gamer not into clubbing, so they had a lot in common.
They’d hung out a lot since then.
That friend was your classic rich girl—she married someone with a good temper, who loved gaming, and was just a genuinely good guy. Everyone was happy for her.
The more they met up, the more it was clear Nan Yuncai was easygoing and could get along with everyone.
But now, Lin Jue noticed something a bit resentful about wealth in Nan Yuncai’s words.
The kind of tone that’s pretty common online these days.
He sighed. After being out cold for so long, he really had missed a lot.
He wanted to persuade, but couldn’t explain everything. He’d been trapped in the Netherworld for ages—his family had told him not to talk about it, and the Scorching Sun Department had made him sign an NDA. He didn’t want to say more, since that would end up dragging Wen Yan into it.
Nothing else really mattered, but he really didn’t want to get Wen Yan involved.
He hadn’t even told his family anything about Wen Yan.
Having played games for years, he naturally knew that the fact Wen Yan brought him back from the Netherworld wasn’t normal at all.
According to the game’s mechanics, this was definitely a bug.
And since the Netherworld was so dangerous, if anyone found out, they’d definitely go after Wen Yan.
Even if he mooched off his family at home, it didn’t mean he had zero brains.
He knew the Scorching Sun Department was extremely sensitive about all things Netherworld right now.
He only knew a little bit, but it was enough to confirm that a lot of people had died, and maybe there were others out there trying to use the Netherworld for their own agendas.
He didn’t even dare snoop for more info—didn’t want to know more.
Back home, Lin Jue tossed and turned, unable to sleep, caught up in inner conflict.
He was torn because he knew his friend was playing the Netherworld. He wanted to warn him, but couldn’t do it well. He thought about telling the Scorching Sun Department, but that felt like betraying his friend, and he just couldn’t.
