I Am Tired Of Being A Hero-Chapter 308: Leaving EAC
When taking the elevator, Arlen removed the blue collar stud and the badge on his chest. He wore a white shirt today, which made his blue collar stand out even more. This was a token of a Captain of the EAC.
It has been over two weeks since he and Ravi had that discussion and Arlen had decided to work a little at EAC before returning to Davenport. He even participated in training the new recruits. He had no regrets as he sent his resignation letter a week ago.
He scrolled through his phone. There were so many places but Arlen did not want anywhere near Davenport or the Capital for their little vacation. Should he pull some strings, Ravi had already taken a leave but he could argue that due to the catastrophe, it could not be considered a leave.
Would the chief care? Probably not. He bent down his head and sent a message to the chief. Pulling some strings was not illegal. Not quite. Besides, the chief was already excited that he would be rejoining the police office at Davenport.
When he stepped out of the elevator, there was only one office on the top floor.
His phone buzzed and he looked down to read.
"Of course! Three days might not be enough. Just take one week to relax. Vacation helps officers be more productive."
He grinned and immediately forwarded the message to his lover. He grinned, he could not wait for tomorrow, they were going to have some much fun. He has been doing some studying.
He knocked and a voice was heard.
He entered the office and Stanley Marco was sitting on the sofa, a small electric kettle was boiling water for tea. He was nearly sixty and just the EAC activities had made grey hair appear on his brown hair and he had lost weight. It had been quite intense and he had led the organization effectively.
The tea leaves were swirling in the cup. Stanley smiled and gestured to him, "Come, let me see if my tea-making skills have gotten better."
Arlen took his seat and waited for the water to boil. Stanley poured it into a tea cup and allowed it to steep.
"I have never heard of Davenport before. I had to ask for records. Officer Sinclair, you are a very promising person." After saying this, he did not say anything more. When the nation asked for volunteers for the EAC, Arlen Sinclair had been among the first to show up; at that time, the offices in these buildings were not ready and the pay had not been finalized.
He had initially thought that it was just a political move by Sinclair but Arlen worked harder than anyone in the EAC. He was simply selfless so how could he convince him to stay in the Capital by talking about glory and money. Arlen Sinclair was a Sinclair after all. There was not an issue when it came to money.
The tea was ready and the two sipped it gently. After they finished drinking, Stanley took out a familiar white envelope.
"I have sighed."
Arlen chuckled and stood up, "Thank you for taking care of me this past month."
"You look a little too eager to get home! There is nothing we can do to convince you to stay just one more week." Stanley said but he could see Arlen’s mind was already somewhere. Youth. It was n9t hard to tell where.
He waved his hand dismissively, "Go! Go! I am tired of seeing your face."
"Goodbye, Chief." Arlen laughed and left the office. His flight might have the fastest flight yet as he stopped in front of the Davenport police office.
"Captain, you are back!" Draco was the first to see him and he immediately stood up to greet him, he pointed at some new faces and they had the same look of admiration in their eyes. Definitely, a result of Draco’s boosting.
Arlen looked towards a certain discussion and Draco’s eyes widened; he had not quite believed Lisa when she told him last weekend.
"Officer West went on Patrol with the Sergeant."
"Oh!" Arlen murmured, but he did not feel quite down about it. After Sage’s birthday today, tomorrow by 6 a.m. They would already be out of Davenport. He had so many places he would like to visit, and many many things he planned to do.
In total, there were ten new officers in Davenport and the Chief had assigned four offices to his team. His favoritism is clearly apparent to other teams in the office.
Only three of them were present as Sarah had taken the last rookie for patrol, he was extremely proud and a little guilty. The Sergeant had stepped up and the training of the new rookies was going well as well. When he came back, he would certainly take them out.
Arlen smiled as he focused on the new officers, he quickly chatted with them, making introductions, learning their ranks and their abilities.
The first one was Officer Sophia Kim. She was 22 and could see clearly in total darkness as if it were daylight.
The second was Marcus Hale who could build up and release jolts of electricity through touch and the final one was Lila Okafor, who had a perfect recall of anything she sees or hears.
Arlen raised his eyebrows slightly, such ability users normally work in intelligence but after hearing that she had chosen Davenport for her national service he understood her.
Some people chose smaller towns for their national service because it is said to be less stressful and the possibility of survival is 99.99%.
A few minutes later, Sarah and a younger man with sandy brown hair pulled three young men into the police station. One of the men was screaming, ’I am going to kill you! If you have guts, just walk by my turf again." All kinds of obscenities left his mouth as he continued to shout with swollen eyes. The second one was unrecognizable with swollen lips, swollen face. He lowered his head and moved forward as for the third, there was no fear in his eyes. He looked like he did not care at all until he looked at Arlen and immediately froze.
"F*ck!" He swore.
