I Am Tired Of Being A Hero-Chapter 280: Unforgivable Sin
Chapter 280: Unforgivable Sin
"Ravi." Arlen’s voice was serious, his expression tense.
"Yes. How many..."
"Twenty. Twenty children from twenty monasteries have been reported missing."
"What is going on Ravi?" Sage interjected, he looked at the two of them, "Twenty children are missing? Which children? Do you need help?"
Ravi looked down at home and Sage quickly noticed that his eyes were more gold than grey.
"Nothing is wrong, it is just someone trying to dip his hand in a jar that did not belong to him."
Sage looked even more concerned and then frowned when Arlen patted his head, "No need to be cryptic. I am not a child. I can’t feel Malik in my mind and you look worried. You never look worried. I know something is wrong. I can help, so don’t try to shake me off. " The more he spoke, the more angrier he got, "Hell, you are my family too so don’t keep things from me. I hate it."
Family. That word made Ravi feel warm even in this situation. Even before he became a Sentinel, he had never really had one. But now...He must protect them.
"There is somebody after Malik’s lover and Arlen’s brother. That person is very very dangerous. He is even stronger than Malik." Ravi replied him.
Sage’s eyes widened and there was a little doubt in them. Like he could not fathom that someone could be stronger than Malik. Ravi nodded to affirm his words, "The situation is delicate so I need to concentrate and I can only do that if I know that you, Ash, and Lana are safe. I need you to take care of them, to protect them. Can you do it?"
Sage was quiet for a second and then nodded, "Leave it to me. I would make sure that nothing happens to them." His voice was solemn and serious and Ravi patted his shoulder.
"Thank you."
"Ravi!!!!" Ash broke away from his friends and ran to the three of them when they appeared in front of him.
After he and Arlen dropped the two of them off, Arlen’s phone rang again, he picked up the call and after a few minutes, he looked at Ravi with a little worry, "The twenty children all have abilities."
"Taking the life of a child, a monk, or a person under divine protection is considered an unforgivable sin. Would you classify having an ability as being under divine protection?" Arlen’s gaze was as sharp as a knife, tearing apart the motive of the Suspect.
Ravi nodded.
Arlen was not surprised and he took a deep breath, "This person is extremely meticulous." He did not think of what would cause his brother to kill 20 children. This should not be the only trap that the man from Eva set for his brother.
Anouk.
Anouk had always been cold and independent since they were little but he was always kind to him. Among the three of them, the person who was born to be a hero was Anouk. He had participated in his first Nest clearing at the age of fifteen and he was always on call for the emergency service. Even during the holidays.
Anouk had always put strangers and those who needed help first. Forget an unforgivable sin, If Anouk should cause harm to 20 children, he would never be able to forgive himself. freёnovelkiss.com
"Ravi. If this was, a mission and you were weaker than you are. If you want to bring someone to an area where you would control him or her completely. Where would you choose?"
Ravi looked at Arlen and he was suddenly reminded of the first case they had with Arlen as their new Captain.
Where he would control someone completely. When he was training as a Sentinel, they were taught to always have an escape route. It was not just, where he could control someone well but where he could escape from if something should happen.
He stopped flying, pausing so that he could recollect his thoughts.
"Somewhere I can cross over from, even if I am very weak."
The two of them were just outside the Capital, flying across the mountainous city of Fairview. They had been assigned the section of the Southwest along with an entire order of heroes that neither he nor Arlen had the time to contact.
They were not looking for Arlen. The entire Sinclair family and Malik were already doing that. Ravi was looking for the person from Eva. Strike at the root and all the branches would die.
"Where?"
Ravi looked up, "I need to..."
Bang!
The mountain below them began to tremble.
"Look out!"
Arlen pulled him away just in time for the mountain to erupt.
Ravi took a deep breath, breathing in the faint scent of vanilla, and neglected to mention that he would not have been hurt by the eruption.
"Thank you!"
Arlen nodded, "Something is very wrong." The dark smoke from the mountain faded and creatures began to crawl from the depth.
"Undead Hobgoblins." Arlen noted, that he could not help but swallow, "This is a Nest."
Skeletons with empty eye sockets, wielding broken weapons crawled shakily from the mouth of the mountain. They were the lowest rank of monsters and the first to come out from a Nest.
He raised his hand and a five-meter tall tornado appeared. It emitted a faint green light that spun rapidly. The spinning whirlwind chased in the direction of the skeletons, it continued to accelerate and envelope the area picking up the hobgoblins and smashing them to the ground.
By the time it came to a stop, there was nothing but broken, smashed bones on the ground.
"Good job!"
As if in response to Ravi’s words, the mountain trembled again.
After them were the Rashik spiders, for days, the mountain would continue to spit out monsters hour after hour, as thousands lay dead in their wake.
"There is an entire department, heavily funded to predict the formation of Nests. How could they miss this and where are the heroes of Fairview?" Arlen asked anxiously.
Ravi looked down coldly, his eyes glancing over the thousands of buildings below the mountains.
They did not have any time to waste.
