I Am Tired Of Being A Hero-Chapter 236: Rubbing their love in front of him
Chapter 236: Rubbing their love in front of him
"Of course. We will find him for you." His voice softened, like the whisper of a devil, "Now dear, how would you like us to find him, dead or alive?"
There was a small cough from the staircase, and Malik paused, he moved his head to the direction where Arlen was coming down and nodded at him, "Good morning, Captain."
Without waiting for a response, he left the house, still conversing with his client.
He actually left the trouble on his head and ran away, Ravi gritted his teeth and turned to face Arlen. He racked his head for an excuse, "He is cosplaying. You know, all these games that people like to play online."
Arlen’s lips twitched in a manner that was similar to Ravi’s and he sighed, "You did not lie a lot when you were younger, did you?"
Ravi thought for a while, first, he had grown up in an orphanage raised by the religious nun and then he lived in the Sentinel realm, he shook his head, "No."
Arlen smiled, "No wonder. Your lying skill is an F score."
"Hey!"
"Besides, you don’t need to run around and look for excuses for the Professor. I never once believed that he was a particularly good person. As long as I don’t catch him doing anything....Wow, who cooked?"
"Sage bought breakfast for us." Ravi explained as he smiled, he was still a little pissed at Malik who ran away and he moved closer to whisper in Arlen’s ears, "You could investigate him. I won’t mind." Wasn’t Malik on the run from a particular member of the Sinclair family?
"Why do you have that mischievous glint in your eyes?"
"What glint?" Ravi said, looking away, he looked a little guilty as he coughed, "Come and eat."
He opened the fridge and sighed, "Being a student is a difficult career path. Why do the days when I could always see some kind of smoothie in the fridge seem so far away?"
Arlen chuckled and pulled Ravi from the fridge, "I would order some smoothies for the two of you today. He is just starting school, very soon the pace would slow down and we would also charge the killer very soon and you would have your free time back."
Ravi wanted to mention that even if he paid the person 100 dollars, they would not still come down to Harlem for delivery but he decided to nod in agreement with him and they settled in to have breakfast.
The porridge was quite delicious, the millet had been boiled until it was very, very soft, and paired with the vegetables and small bites of fish, it made the whole body feel extremely comfortable.
Compared to the entire breakfast tray, this porridge was Ravi’s favorite part. He looked at Arlen who was the opposite of him. His porridge bowl was mostly untouched and he seemed to be completely focused on the spring roll.
Arlen smiled as he lifted the last spring roll, the crust of the spring roll was thin and crispy, when bitten down the crust solute in the mouth and the delicious cooled mushroom and spicy vegetables filled one’s mouth, the delicious flavor spreading quickly all over his taste buds.
The shrimp was the second thing Arlen loved the most here, the dumpling was just right. The skin was thin and chewy, the shrimp was so delicious, refreshing, and not greasy at all.
He was still eating when there was a knock. And another. The person did not wait for a response before coming in.
"When did you start knocking?" Ravi asked, raising an eyebrow.
"I just wanted to make sure you two are decent so I don’t witness anything I should not witness."
"You are blind."
"Thank you for reminding me. I forgot."
Ravi heard a sound by his side and saw the picture of Arlen with his head bowed, his shoulders trembling suspiciously. He kicked him under the table as he stood up picked up the papers on the table and passed them to Malik.
"They are in braille." He said as he passed the papers to him.
Braille. Arlen looked at the blind man. For some reason, he recalled when he visited his brother and saw some braille textbooks on the table. Why was he recalling that block of ice at this moment? Was it because his birthday was coming up?
Malik sighed and took the paper, "You can just share the information with me. It would not take five minutes." Malik smiled, the gentle tilt of his lips grating on Ravi’s nerves, "It would take more than two days for me to read all these files."
"It would take you an hour tops, Professor. I have seen you reading. I know how fast you flip the pages." Arlen interjected, polishing the last food on his tray and walking to where the two of them were standing.
Malik still had a gentle smile and stretched his hand out as he knew what next Arlen was about to say.
"But we don’t even have an hour. You are some kind of telepath, right? Read mine instead. I am not comfortable with you reading Ravi’s mind."
"And I am not comfortable with him reading yours."
Malik sighed, "And I am not comfortable spending the next hour going back and forth on who loves each other more. Ravi, while I love your mind, I am sure the Captain’s knowledge of this case is more robust than yours. Very sure."
He did not need to say it twice. Besides, he had worked hard for this case more than he had worked in that Davenport Police Bureau since he entered there.
"Officer West had been working very hard. There is not much difference between our knowledge of this case." Arlen reached out and squeezed Ravi’s hand, causing him to smile.
Malik sighed. He had been good but these two people insisted on standing in front of him to rub their relationship all over his face. Did he tell them that he was single? Maybe he had punished his lover for too long.
It was just those dreams that made him hesitate.
