I am the Zombie King of the Apocalyptic World-Chapter 778 - 774: Hell in Pingnan_1
Chapter 778: Chapter 774: Hell in Pingnan_1
With that thought, a wicked idea flashed in Tang Ye’s mind, leaving Gong Xiao to tease Ah Fu continuously. He was curious about the expression on her face when she found out Ah Fu was a zombie.
As he pondered over this, a strange smile crept onto Tang Ye’s face, chilly enough to send shivers up someone’s spine.
"Both of you, pack up and come with me."
Having said this, Tang Ye ascended the stairs. Soon enough, he led Ah Fu and Gong Xiao out of the base, towards the heart of Hua City. There, atop a towering building, lay an enormous silver-armored zombie dragon, which had been lying in wait for a long time.
He guided the two onto the dragon’s head and said, "Let’s go, Pingnan Base."
The dragon gave a low growl before soaring into the sky, heading towards the city where Pingnan Base was situated.
Given the speed of the dragon, they soon reached Qi City, the site of Pingnan Base. With his far-reaching vision, Tang Ye had a basic understanding of the base’s location as soon as he arrived. After the dragon set them down in the ruins, he led Ah Fu and Gong Xiao into Pingnan Base.
For some reason, he was getting excited at the thought of meeting the man surnamed Ning.
"Are you here?"
Unconsciously, the face which had brought him only gentleness flashed across his mind.
Passing through the barriers filled with zombies, from afar, they could see the Anti-Zombie Wall standing tall. Gradually, fully armed soldiers and some vicious-looking bounty hunters, their bodies covered with dingy and yellowish pus from zombies, began to appear.
Without exception, everyone’s attention was drawn to the strange trio, particularly Gong Xiao, whose exceptionally beautiful face stood out. However, when anyone had any immoral thoughts and tried to kidnap her on the spot, they were deterred by Ah Fu’s size.
Regular people didn’t have such a physique; only those who had evolved uniquely could have a robust frame like Ah Fu. His build was comparable to a Level 3 Power Zombie - a clearly formidable figure.
Even though human nature had distorted in the post-apocalypse, it didn’t mean all survivors were idiots.
With expressionless faces, the three made their way to the gate. However, any strangers like them would inevitably be stopped by the soldiers guarding the gate, asked to register their names and then issued identification cards.
Of course, this was also true at the Pingnan Base. The only difference was that the soldiers guarding the Anti-Zombie Wall didn’t look like soldiers. Instead, they seemed more like well-equipped survivors, not wearing any uniforms.
"Stop, you three newcomers, come over here first for registration. No matter how strong you are, you must respect the rules here."
They were promptly stopped by several non-uniformed soldiers as soon as they appeared in front of the Anti-Zombie Wall at the Pingnan Base.
Tang Ye sniffed suspiciously, detecting a strong smell of blood emanating from the few soldiers. It was obvious that they had just killed someone, perhaps multiple people.
When they were stopped, Tang Ye and his companions halted. However, he never directly looked at these soldiers. At the moment they stopped, he tilted his head slightly towards Ah Fu, who instantly understood, his eyes turning fierce.
"Do you dare to stop me?"
With a wave of his hand, Ah Fu grabbed one of the soldiers by the collar, throwing him aside. His murderous aura suddenly erupted, clearly showing he had killed before.
"You... Don’t... Don’t mess around!" The soldier’s face turned pale, and his body trembled too much for him to utter a coherent sentence. Ah Fu snorted coldly and glared menacingly at the other soldiers.
"Get out of my way!"
Seeing this, how could the other soldiers dare to stop him? They quickly stepped aside, letting Tang Ye and his companions stroll in confidently.
Upon entering the base, a strong smell of blood and rotting corpses hit them. Wherever they looked, there were grey tents everywhere. The Pingnan Base was established on the outskirts of Qi City. There were not many usable buildings left before the Apocalypse, so most of the survivors lived in tents.
However, these tents were makeshift and barely enough to provide shelter against the rain, let alone the wind.
These large and small tents clustered together, a nefarious mix of smells hanging in the air, evoking nausea. Trash littered the streets, having decayed over time into a strange, sticky membrane stuck to the ground. Stepping onto it felt like stepping into grease. Apart from the areas with heavy foot traffic, the ground everywhere else was slippery.
There were no furnishings under the tents, only a long row of flattened area. At a glance, survivors lay on these spaces, huddled under thin, dirty blankets, the original color of which could no longer be discerned. Some survivors lying there showed no signs of life, and countless flies buzzed around them, obviously dead.
It looked like a refugee camp during a war, where the displaced suffered from hunger in a foreign land.
It was as if they were in a living hell.
What was worse was that you could see killing in broad daylight, gang fights, and blood flying from slashes of cleavers.
Several corpses hung on the Anti-Zombie Wall, their decayed bodies exposed, emanating a horrendous stench that made them impossible to look at directly.
"Pingnan Base is more chaotic than I imagined," Tang Ye sighed, walking into a tent and waking up a sleeping survivor.
"Hey, wake up."
"Who is it?"
Disturbed by Tang Ye, the drowsy survivor stirred. His eyes first met Tang Ye’s enchantingly handsome face, but quickly, they were drawn to Gong Xiao standing behind him, causing him to freeze.
"A...A fairy!"
"Enough, get up!" Ah Fu roughly pulled the survivor to his feet and said, "Our boss has a question for you."
The survivor snapped back to reality. With great difficulty, he shifted his gaze from Gong Xiao to Tang Ye. Noticing the pristine clothes Tang Ye was wearing, the survivor’s expression became respectful.
Only the superior evolved beings in Pingnan Base could wear such clothes.
"Wha... What do you need?"
The survivor was very tense. Having been oppressed for a long time had instilled in him a significant degree of servility.
Tang Ye pulled out several pieces of Yajin from his pocket and casually tossed them to the survivor. He failed to react initially, but the surviving onlookers gasped at the sight and eyed him menacingly. Seeing the formidable demeanor of Tang Ye and his party, however, they dared not make a move.
"This... I... Sir, if you need something, I... I promise I’ll do it!"
Upon seeing the Yajin, the survivor instantly perked up, speaking ingratiatingly.
