Chapter 648: Chapter 648: I’m Talking About Your Period! (Part 1)

"Nothing."

Liliana Davis raised her hand and removed her glasses, pressing her nose bridge as if unwilling to continue the topic.

Nathan Leafcastle glanced sideways at his mother, then straightened his posture.

"Turn right up ahead... Stop the car!"

The car stopped by the roadside, and Nathan Leafcastle reached out to push open the car door.

"Mom, I want to talk to you!"

Reluctantly, Liliana Davis had to get out of the car and follow him to the riverbank, walked a dozen steps before Nathan Leafcastle stopped and turned to his mother.

"I want to hear the truth!"

Raising his right hand, he leaned on the stone railing beside the river, and Liliana Davis tapped her fingers on the railing, before speaking softly after a moment.

"Nathan, some things... it’s better that you don’t know."

After speaking, she turned around and walked toward the direction where the car was parked.

"Mom!" Nathan Leafcastle grabbed her wrist, "Is it related to Vera?"

"Enough!" Liliana Davis shook off his hand, "Vera, Vera, Vera, you only have eyes and heart for Vera. What about Sally, what about me... you..."

She swallowed the words that rushed to her lips, clenched her teeth, and turned to leave.

Nathan Leafcastle stood in place, clenched his teeth, and punched the stone railing.

Meanwhile, Liliana Davis had already walked back to the car and sat inside.

"Drive!"

The driver hesitated, "But, Mr. Leafcastle..."

"Let him clear his head here!" Liliana Davis’s voice increased, "Drive!"

The car started moving, she raised her head to gaze at the car roof, with tears that seemed hard to hide in her eyes.

The car returned to the villa, Sally Dalton was not home, Linda came forward promptly upon seeing her return.

"Minister, Chairman Lee has been arrested!"

"What?!" Liliana Davis turned pale with shock, "What happened?"

"Tax evasion and embezzling public funds," Linda responded.

This Chairman Lee was the previous chair of the Environmental Foundation that protested against the Deer Island project; he had withdrawn from the foundation at the beginning of the year due to health reasons.

"Someone reported to the Commission Against Corruption, the evidence is very substantial, including recordings of his own," Linda explained with a helpless expression, "This time he is really doomed, you see..."

Liliana Davis always had a cooperative relationship with Chairman Lee, and Linda couldn’t help but worry for Liliana Davis.

If all past matters truly came out, Liliana Davis would certainly be affected.

"Kris Cooper!" Liliana Davis frowned, "It seems... I really underestimated you."

"Are you saying... Kris Cooper did this?" Linda asked.

Recalling Kris Cooper’s previous words, Liliana Davis’s expression grew darker. "If I’m not mistaken, he should already know the truth."

"This..." Linda also frowned, "If so, the previous report against you must have been his doing. And now this issue with Chairman Lee, likely his handiwork too. If he knows the truth, then... does Miss Vera know as well?"

Liliana Davis thought for a moment and shook her head.

"No, if I’m guessing correctly, she should still be unaware."

If Vera knew her father’s death was connected to her, she would not have no reaction, as it definitely goes against her nature.

The only explanation is that Vera is not aware.

So the question is, why does Kris Cooper know the truth but has not told Vera? Is he uncertain about the truth, or does he have other reasons?
