Chapter 630: Chapter 630: She is the Protagonist

Vera Wave stood on the staircase, her gaze sweeping across the crowd looking up at her from downstairs. Despite their attention, there was no hint of stage fright or confusion on her face.

Having been born and raised in a very privileged family, she had attended countless such banquets and, of course, had long grown accustomed to them.

Her gaze returned, settling on Kris Cooper at the foot of the stairs. From afar, she blinked at him, her lips curving into a smile.

Her demeanor was just as it had been six years prior, when she first met him.

Kris Cooper smiled back. She, in turn, grasped the banister and began to descend step by step.

The opulent lamps on one side of the staircase illuminated the tiny diamonds on her dress. The girl, holding onto the banister, descended the curved staircase, each step radiant, as if a princess were making her grand entrance.

Nathan Leafcastle stood in the distance, his gaze fixed on the figure bathed in light. His dark eyes gradually deepened in color as he watched her.

Gazing at her, fragments of their shared past flashed through his mind. He still remembered his father excitedly telling him after kindergarten that he had a new little sister. Then, he saw her in the hospital. She was so small, wrapped in a creamy white swaddling cloth, with tiny hands, tiny feet, a tiny nose, and a tiny mouth... but her eyes were large, dark, and bright. That was their first meeting. He was five; she had just been born.

Liliana Davis noticed her son’s unusual state and gently tugged his sleeve.

Nathan Leafcastle snapped back to reality, pushed down the memories, and his gaze returned to Vera Wave.

Adorned with beautiful makeup and exquisite attire, the already delicate girl appeared even more stunning. She had shed some of her childish innocence, gaining an air of nobility and grace.

At that moment, Vera Wave had become the focal point of the entire event.

And this was precisely the effect Kris Cooper had orchestrated. He had deliberately sent her upstairs, making her appear only after all the guests had arrived. His intention was for everyone to pay attention to her, for everyone to see her, for everyone to know that tonight, she was the main event!

Watching her approach, seeing she was about to reach the final step, he elegantly brought his right hand from behind his back and extended it towards her.

Vera Wave smiled, lifted the hand that had been resting on the banister, and gently placed it into his awaiting palm.

He closed his fingers around hers, grasping her slender, meticulously manicured hand, her fingernails as lovely as shells. Kris Cooper then bent slightly to kiss the back of her hand. Only then did he lead her down the final step, turn to face the crowd, and nod with an air of pride.

Not far away, Bailey Hansen and Christoper Cooper initiated the applause.

Parents understand their children best; they naturally comprehended their son’s intentions and thus cooperated enthusiastically.

With their lead, applause naturally spread throughout the entire hall.

Kris Cooper led Vera Wave onto the main platform. Christoper Cooper then surveyed the surroundings.

Turning to the guests, Kris Cooper began, "Thank you all for attending this banquet today. The purpose of this banquet is to share an important piece of news with all of you." He glanced at Vera beside him, his fingers tightening around her small hand. "From today onward, Vera is a member of the Cooper Family. As her husband, I will protect and cherish her... just as I protect my own eyes and cherish my own life. Please... give us your blessings!"

The entire venue once again echoed with applause.

After a moment, Kris Cooper raised his left hand.

The entire venue went quiet.

He then led Vera Wave off the platform and into the center of the hall.

Dance music began to play. He took a step back, made an inviting gesture, and then, taking her hand, they began to dance gracefully.
