Chapter 619: Chapter 619: My Husband is Very Busy

"Shouldn’t I be asking you that?" Vera Wave strode over. "What are you doing here?"

She had already played the ruthless wife confronting a mistress before, so she didn’t mind continuing in this role with Irene Spencer.

This woman was clearly here to see Kris Cooper. The thought of her casting coquettish glances at her man again, harboring ill intentions, made Vera Wave feel a surge of annoyance.

The assistant beside her stepped forward and spoke on Irene’s behalf. "Miss Spencer is here to discuss renewing her image endorsement contract with Ashton."

"Oh?" Vera Wave smirked. "So it’s about that. Well, then there’s no need for you to go in." 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚

"What do you mean?" the assistant asked.

"Miss Spencer’s current image is no longer suitable for our company. Therefore, we’ve already chosen a new image spokesperson," Vera Wave said, lifting her chin arrogantly. "My husband is very busy. He has no time to see miscellaneous people like you."

The assistant frowned. "You... How could you do this?"

Irene was so furious her lips trembled. "This was all your idea, wasn’t it?"

Vera Wave’s gaze shifted and landed on Irene’s face.

Under her stare, Irene averted her gaze.

"We have other matters to attend to; we must be leaving now!" After saying this, she strode past Vera Wave, quickly walking towards the elevators. It looked more like fleeing than walking, as if she was terrified Vera Wave might catch up and strike her.

"Miss Spencer!" The two assistants scurried after her.

Vera Wave watched Irene stumble into the elevator in a panic, nearly falling, and let out a soft chuckle. This woman... has she really learned her lesson after just one splash of wine?!

「Inside the elevator.」

Irene leaned against the elevator wall, her face a little pale.

"Ashton has gone too far," one assistant complained indignantly. "They replaced us without notice! What do they take us for?"

"Exactly," the other assistant chimed in. "It’s always the good ones who get bullied! Let’s go through the contract carefully when we get back. They changed the spokesperson without even notifying us. Isn’t that completely against the rules?"

No sooner had she finished speaking than one of the assistants’ phones rang. She answered it, puzzled. On the other end of the line, a woman’s voice sounded very polite.

"Are you Miss Spencer’s assistant? This is Merlin Bradley from Ashton’s Advertising Department. The contract Miss Spencer has with us expires in half a month, and I’m officially informing you. After careful consideration, we’ve determined that Miss Spencer is no longer suitable to be our company’s image spokesperson. Therefore, we have decided to terminate the contract. Thank you for your previous cooperation. Goodbye!"

Without giving the other party a chance to speak, Merlin Bradley hung up.

Listening to the dial tone, Irene’s face turned ashen with anger. But it didn’t end there. Just as that call ended, another phone rang. This time, it was for the other assistant.

"Hello, this is the Advertising Department of Windmill Game."

"Hello," the assistant quickly responded. "What can I do for you?"

"Miss Spencer’s game endorsement contract with us expires in one month, and we do not intend to renew it. This call is to inform Miss Spencer of this. Additionally, please relay to her that we have revoked the internal account our company previously provided."

"But..."

"Goodbye."

The call disconnected.
