I Am The Only Witch Hunter-Chapter 352: Basilus
Basilus wore a full suit of metallic armor. Outside of her was a thick winter cloak. You couldn’t survive in the North without a good cloak. The air here would kill you.
Basilus dragged the corpse of a mountain lion onto the snowy hill.
There was a blizzard going on. The scenery was covered in blinding snow.
When Basilus reached his cave, she immediately noticed two horses standing near the entrance.
She dropped the lion on the ground and extended his right hand. His spirit blade appeared. It had a similar shade as Siderius, a gold tone.
But her gold was brighter, more heroic. While the color of Siderius’ willpower was more mythical.
She slowly walked inside to see Siderius, Ashe, and Damien sat around the firepit that she normally used to warm himself.
Siderius stood up. "You must be Master Adracius."
"And you are?" Basilus didn’t withdraw his sword. She still held it in his hand for protection.
"You can call me Siderius. I am here to learn your Spirit Art."
"A student?"
Basilus scanned the newcomers. She quickly determined the Spirit level of each person.
Damien had the same Spirit Level as him. But his Spirit was locked away. He wouldn’t be a threat.
Ashe hadn’t even started her journey yet and still tried to become a Spirit Swordsman.
Siderius was a rank one Spirit Swordsman. But his willpower was enormous. Enough to make Basilus feel dangerous.
"Are all of you here to learn?"
Siderius shook his head, "Just me and her. He’s just tagging along."
"There aren’t a lot of rank three swordsmen in Everia. Based on his silver hair, he must be the Evening Sword, huh?"
"In flesh and bone." Damien bowed sarcastically, copying the way performers greeted their audience.
"So it’s true. Erdemir’s son managed to cripple the greatest swordsman in Everia."
Basilus looked at the empty wrist of Argentius.
"Heh." Damien laughed. He didn’t bother to talk back.
The Evening Sword leaned back on the wall of the cave and drank a bottle of alcohol that he took from Siderius.
"Bringing a hound of Theistius to me is a very bad move. Don’t you know I am their enemy." Basilus said.
"Yes. But I also know that you’re an honorable knight. Are you not?"
Basilus chuckled but she didn’t refuse. She got herself comfy around the firepit.
"There is a blizzard out there. So cold." She warmed herself by the fire.
"I can sense that you have your own sword style already. Why did you still come to me?"
"I visited two masters previously. Kynidus Hephaestius. And Regulus Minorius. I have learned from both of them.
But their style isn’t my path. I have my own path."
"And you need me to help you carve this path?"
Siderius shook his head, "No. I just need another example. The more I know, the easier it is to create my own style."
"I see. Before I gave you the challenge. I need to know what your relationship is with him." Basilus pointed to Damien.
"Personally. I don’t know him. But one of his friends is my friend." Siderius said.
"What are you going to do with him? Escorting him back to the capital for a big reward. Or giving him to the Glacirius?"
"Neither. After this, I’ll return to Eldoria. I’ll drop him somewhere in the South. He can manage himself from there." Siderius said.
"I see. If that’s the case, then your challenge is to bring Damien to Glacirius. If you do, then I’ll teach you my style."
Basilus turned toward Ashe, "How about you, girl? Do you want a challenge?"
Ashe nodded.
"I’ll want you to bring Damien to the capital. If you succeed, I will teach you. Those are my challenges to you. Obviously, you can only accomplish one of them. The choice is yours."
Once she finished speaking, Basilus went to the cave entrance and dragged the mountain lion inside. The knight began to dissect the beast for some meat. It was hard to acquire good prey on this snowy mountain.
"What should we do, Master?"
"What do you want to do?" Siderius smiled.
Ashe scratched her head. Obviously she couldn’t bring Damien to the capital, that would prevent Siderius from learning Basilus’s Art.
"I think you should deliver Damien to Glacirium, Master."
"Hey! I just managed to get out of there." Damien blurted out.
Siderius turned to Basilus, "May we stay here until the storm passes? We will give you the answer then."
"No problem." Basilus nodded.
The blizzard went on for longer than they thought. The night went deep and it showed no sign of stopping. It seemed that they would need to wait until morning to leave.
Ashe rolled out her sleeping bag and chose a quiet corner to sleep. Damien found another spot and drank himself into sleep.
There were only Siderius and Basilus conscious. They faced each other with the illuminating firepit in between.
"What are you going to do, Siderius?" Basilus said.
"You want the answer now?"
Basilus nodded.
"I won’t choose either one. Picking anything would drag me and her into this war. Of course, if Ashe wants to escort Damien to the capital. She can still do so."
"But she won’t do that. So you will just leave here without gaining anything." Basilus said.
"Maybe. I don’t really need your style that much. It would take me more time. But I’ll figure it out."
"Very confident..."
"And you. Why pretend to be a man?"
Basilus’s hair raised up and she stared at Siderius.
Siderius simply shrugged, "I know human anatomy. Your hips are too wide and your center point of balance is lower than a man."
Basilus sighed, "I hope you can keep it a secret."
"Never intending to say anything to be honest."
In the morning, the blizzard subsided and they could finally leave.
Siderius told Ashe about his decision. Ashe agreed with him. She also didn’t want to get meddled into this war.
She also believed in Siderius. She knew that he could figure out his style and he could teach her. They didn’t need someone else’s technique.
The group left the snowy mountain after one night. Basilus observed them when their silhouette slowly disappeared.
"He is also a Glacirius..." Basilus mumbled.
