Victoria’s ears were much quicker than usual mutation because of the low psychosis.
It gave an average amount of attribute and didn’t provide an additional ability initially. But once he had dissolved the psychosis completely, it did give him an ability. The ability of which no witch hunter had acquired before.
It was a unique ability.
Siderius went on the road again and returned to Santa Roberto. He had achieved what he left to do. Now, he needed to accompany Jude, the Baron of Scalize to Everia to look for the cure of his wife.
"I should probably send Quinlan a letter. He should be able to help us get around in Everia."
Quinlan was a noble in Everia and he was also a very successful merchant. He had everything. But the only thing he didn’t have was freedom. He was forever constricted inside those bandages.
There was a way out. That way was the Witch Hunter Path. The mutation would clear the deformity of his skin. The change would happen specifically at Tengura, Skin Mutation. But choosing it was a difficult choice.
Siderius had made himself clear to Quinlan. He would not give this power out for free. Either he had to join the Guild of Xander or he had to give something of equivalent value in exchange.
Something like the Spiritual Swordsmanship.
As of now, Siderius had gained many mutations. Some of them were new. Some of them were old. But none could show him the pathway to immortality. Spiritual Swordsmanship was his last hope.
Siderius returned to Santa Roberto after a few weeks. He stacked his needed items, made a few useful tonics and even spared some time to train the other apprentice.
Henry had significant improvement in Alchemy. But he still had a long way to go to be able to conduct an alchemical mutation.
Roland learned Alchemy pretty fast and was capable of conducting a mutation for himself. But his body was not ready yet.
Rea had slow improvement for both Alchemy and Body Training. But she did not falter and kept persisting in this path. She grew slowly but surely.
One day, Jude and his now comatose wife Caterina, came to Santa Roberto.
Siderius’ people took care of Caterina while Jude came and met him in his office.
Siderius was sitting at the table and checked up on a few documents that needed his attention. He wanted to make sure that everything would be operating smoothly without him.
"Jude. Welcome. Please sit." Siderius pointed to the couch.
"I will make myself at home then." Jude’s heavy body sat down on the wide chair. It was extremely comfy. It seemed like Siderius had prepared the chair especially for him.
Jude sat silently and watched Siderius doing the paperwork. He couldn’t help but be impressed.
"You really are one hard-working lord. I’ve always given these things to my subordinates." Jude said.
"I do also. But there are things that you need to make the decision yourself. And frankly, if you don’t check up on your territory, you will lose it without knowing." Siderius said. His eyes were still fixed on the documents.
Jude nodded approvingly. "Very wise. About our journey. You really shouldn’t need to go with me. There needs to be someone to stay here and look after our territories."
"Don’t worry. I have taken care of everything. My people will look after our territories. I also have something I need to do in Everia."
"But there needs to be at least a Baron here."
Siderius smiled. He looked up. "I won’t be staying long. Once I get what I need, I will return to Eldoria."
"I see. What exactly do you want in Everia?"
"The same thing you do. The secrets of Spiritual Swordsmanship."
Siderius closed the notebook on the table.
For the next few days, Siderius and Jude completed the paperwork needed for the alliance between Snowfell and Scalize.
Then he, Jude, and the Collector from before, all went to the Grove to officiate this alliance.
For the next 10 years, Siderius would now be able to manage Scalize on behalf of Jude Fisher, the Baron of Scalize.
Two weeks later. Siderius was sitting in his office when there was a knock on the door.
"Come in." Siderius said.
Ashe walked in. She was still wearing armor and the hunter uniform. Her face was covered with dirt and dust from the road.
"You’re back early, my apprentice?" Siderius smiled. "How have you been?"
"I’ve been good, Master. I travelled here and there, catching and killing monsters as you have taught me to."
"You did? We have things to catch up on then."
Siderius and Ashe spent the entire afternoon talking about her experience. The girl had found Drowners, an undead variation similar to the ghoul but operated exclusively under water.
Ashe also found some unawaken witches running around harming people to advance their power, all of them were killed mercilessly.
"You’ve done many things, my apprentice. From what I heard, you still have more you want to do. Why return so early?" Siderius said.
"I want to accompany you, Master. To Everia."
Siderius stood at the window, his back facing Ashe. He stayed silent for quite a while.
"Why?"
"Because... Because I want to help you, Master. You helped me many times and gave me everything. I want to be of use to you."
Siderius smiled and turned to her. "That... Or are you jealous because I went on the road with Rea."
Ashe pouted her lips. She didn’t hide her disappointment. "I envy her, Master. But please believe me when I say I hold no ill will toward her. I just... envy her time with you.
I want to help you also."
Siderius sighed. "Then so be it. You can come along with me and Jude."
"Yay!"
On the day of departure, Caterina was put inside a coffin for safety. Her coffin was inside a hardened wood cart with Jude as the driver. Siderius and Ashe each had their own horses.
"As I’ve told you before, we would need to go through the Hallow Lands to get into Everia. I have some business there to tend to so we will waste some time there."
Jude nodded. "Don’t worry, Snow. You helped me a lot. You even come with me. I won’t be that unreasonable for a simple business."
Siderius wouldn’t say that it was simple business. He nodded.
The three of them went on the road to the Hallow Lands.
