I am the Mad Heir of the Strongest Clan-Chapter 26: B-Rank Mucus
Chapter 26 - B-Rank Mucus
"Tough crowd..." Jules hissed as mana coursed through his body. "I'll stay behind."
One way or another, the team was experienced so they handled it calmly.
After confirming Jules's play in this, the others, who were already familiar with each other's fighting style, moved based on their position.
Ryan blurred and blended in with his environment, while Finn shot forward.
Using Mana Enhancement, he roughly coated his sword with Aura as his strength increased.
He then added Fire Element to the equation as his sword lit on fire.
Standing at the rear, Jules debated his next move.
It's time for Veil's range style!
He stretched his palm forward and using his ability obtained as a Solid Orange to use the atmosphere's mana, he began casting a spell.
Considering his current persona, he went for an actual incantation.
"Flame condensed, spirit sharpened—shoot and pierce without mercy! Firebolt!"
A magic circle wove into existence in front of his extended palm and launched a firebolt.
Passing by the moving Finn, it aimed at the chest of the Mucus.
But the creature clasped its hands together before separating it, a slime shield appearing between them.
The fire hit the slime, but slowly died down under the shield's influence, a sizzling sound resounding gently.
Seizing the moment, Finn lunged with a jump, sword first.
His blade pierced the slime, but the Mucus shifted its body back, robbing his strike of force.
A tongue shot from its mouth, heading for Finn.
He managed to pull his sword out and retreat, but the liquid that bounced off the creature's body began melting his cloak gradually.
Before it could finish Finn, Ryan appeared, redirecting a monstrous claw attack.
The claw hit the cavern with a large boom, causing a mild quake.
This gave time for Ryan to disappear again while Finn grounded himself.
As they did, Jules, who had just completed his next attack, suddenly let them go.
Multiple red magic circles appeared in front of him, holding runes similar to the earlier spell, albeit this looked weaker.
"Firebolts!"
More arrow-shaped flames shot directly at the Mucus, weakening its 'armor.'
Jules followed up with a ball of blood appearing in front of him.
Burned, the tall creature roared, spitting acid and releasing poisonous vapors into the air.
Finn was mainly in trouble now as he was directly exposed to it.
Feeling his cloak melt to shoulder length, Finn held his sword down and concentrated.
Remnant fire mana from Jules's spell attracted to him and flowed to his sword, increasing the flames on it.
He rushed the creature.
As the claws fell, Ryan's straight swords appeared for about five seconds to block two of its attacks.
Using this moment to push in further, Finn brought down an attack on the Mucus chest, caving it in.
A clang rang as Finn dropped back down with a thud, then moved again.
At that moment, multiple clang resounded around the Mucus all around it—Ryan was using his original skill.
The clangs didn't end as he stood at a dark corner, hitting his two swords together gently.
Jules had closed in, and launched a big red ball at the Mucus, which seemed to turn its head around dizzily.
"Expand and bind!" Jules commanded with magic language.
The blood hit the Mucus then slightly mixed with the slime, then tangled the Mucus.
As Ryan, who had expended a large mana, stepped out of battle, Finn darted forward and launched multiple slashes with his burning sword.
This further weakened the chest of the Mucus as its dark green scales turned darker.
Jules stood a distance, his eyes closed as he manipulated the remaining blood with utmost concentration.
The Mucus was dangerous, it was like a wall.
It was like his personal Bastard.
But now, he could break this wall. This was what he attained power for.
Jules—no, Veil—stretched both palms forward as red light gathered between them.
The red light constricted and moved, slowly forming a ball.
When the ball reached the size of the Mucus's head, he stabbed his palm into it.
The ball suddenly moved again, shaping into a large jagged needle held in his hands.
Looking at the 'wall' in front of him, Veil laughed.
Feeling the Mucus's escape attempt succeeded and sensing an intense presence behind him, Finn retreated.
Laughing madly, Veil hurled the jagged needle.
As he saw the needle pierce through the Mucus, he stretched his hand like he was strengthening the connection to the needle.
"Explode," he yelled with excitement.
The needle widened and exploded, causing a firework of blood and organs.
Veil didn't stop laughing.
He felt free.

As Jules's laughter died down into chuckles, Finn had already thrown his cloak aside, leaving him with a black shirt and revealing his covered hair.
Ryan, who had redirected strong attacks and concentrated his manipulation of soundwaves on the Mucus, was low on mana.
The corpse of the B-rank creature was also still expelling weak poison in the air, but it would become very effective if left alone.
Feeling relaxed, Jules said, "Ah, too bad the meat is spoiled. I was looking forward to eating a quality frog."
"You must have really lost it," Ryan replied from a distance. "I'm feeling the tingling from the poison despite this armor and you still want to eat it?!"
"I also want to know how the slimes will taste if prepared as a drink," Jules said in a feigned tone of reverie.
"So you have lost it..." Ryan said certainly in a low tone.
Feeling even worse tingling sensations from the poison, Finn said, "Ai, can we pluck out the cores and share? This place is getting less tolerable."
"Yes, sworddancer," Jules replied.
"Call me... Nick."
That's also different from what you told Green in the novel!

Jules let out a chuckle as he said, "Let's do as you said, Sir Nick."
Without much talk, Jules took the core from the B-rank creature and left its corpse.
He then moved on to the previous cavern.
It was fast to remove the cores because the corpses were already gathered.
After they shared the gains as planned, Jules was throwing the palm-size blue orb in his hands up and down.
"How do we handle this?" He asked.
"You guys did most of the work in that battle so you can have it," Finn replied and added after a second, "If you don't need the core, I can swap 5 C-ranks and 10 D-ranks for it."
As a rare spawn monster, the quality of the B-rank Mucus was average, while the lower ranked Mucuses were below average of worth. This was the nature of an Immortal Type Gate.
You really aren't desperate for it...
Jules chose to not think too much and threw the core at Finn.
"Sir Nick, you're quite a strong man," Jules said. "Let me be your broker if you need one."
Finn scrutinized Jules for a moment before replying, "Alright. Nice walking with you, Mr. Veil."
Jules chuckled and then they discussed their mode of communication in case one needed the other.
Jules decided to leave the corpse handling to the Beyond owner, holding his share of cores in a bag.
As they walked through a cleared tunnel, Ryan silently watched Jules and Finn tiredly.
"Say, aren't you going to return my mask?" Jules asked.
"I... thought it was mine."
"Not if you're not joining my team."
"Ah, you may have it then."
Finn was back to his original dark mask and used a cloak he kept in his 'bag', returning the White mask to Jules.
'Jules is crazy...' Ryan thought.
'This Veil guy is crazy!' Finn's living orb said to him.
