I Am The Heroine's Father: The Cannon Fodder's Ascent-Chapter 66: Just a feeling...
Chapter 66 - Just a feeling...
"Now, now, Lucifer does need to handle an entire army, and fight a war, give him a break." Leor sighed, his voice soft.
Johan's mind went blank for a second, immediately imagining a thousand ways to torture Leor, but it only took a deep breath and a blink to calm himself, listening to everything with full attention.
Radhaan smiled sheepishly, not wanting to start another fight with Lucifer. Just two days ago, Lucifer being Lucifer, mocked the way Radhaan's defense spells worked—using an electromagnetic field to block all projectiles—and literally broke it in a single slash of Kratos.
This pissed Radhaan off beyond reason. Both his organization and the world worshipped him like a god, and thus Leor got to witness one of the flashiest and greatest battles he would ever witness.
"If I didn't have limiters on me... it wouldn't even have been a fair fight!" Lucifer scoffed, reading Leor's intentions.
Radhaan's smile widened, running a hand through his red hair, patting the dust off them, "Maybe... but we are in the present, and in this present, it was a close fight. Let's consider it a tie for now."
"Hahaha, are you hearing him, Leor? His Aether reserves were nearly depleted—in a single more hour, I would've won! The audacity of this human!" Lucifer laughed mockingly, making Radhaan prepare a high-level Judgement, the strongest spell he had at the moment.
"No, Lucifer, it was really a tie. He has a contract with Indra. Once his Aether reserves depleted, he would've been forced to use his powers. Thus, it's hard to tell. You both can fight later," Leor said with a sigh.
Radhaan's eyes widened to the limit. He had told Leor this in confidence, and now he was just blurting it to his nemesis.
All colour disappeared from Lucifer's face, no words coming out anymore. The name of his old arch-enemy left a bad taste in his mouth.
"Why would the Dragon God make a contract with a mortal? Is it because of that dragon kin, Daystar..." Lucifer asked, his voice barely suppressing his shock and disdain.
Dragons and Devils both had a very long and deep disdain for each other, and no matter how much time passed, it wouldn't go away. It was simply because both Lucife—The God of Devils, and Indra—The God of Dragons, had been fighting to the death for more than a billion years. The reason? That's a secret between them and the creator.
But at their level, death meant nothing. Both killed each other multiple times, only to reincarnate and continue again.
Leor smirked, giving a look to Radhaan, who was giving him death stares, "Who knows... what matters is you both are equals. Don't start another fight..." His voice was low, as if warning both of them.
Making excuses for destroying over 700 kilometers of land, two cities, and four villages was all up to Leor, and he was extremely exhausted from all the paperwork and favours he had to pull trying to suppress the deaths of thousands of innocent commoners. But more importantly, so many fields, vineyards, etc., owned by high-level nobles were destroyed—and Leor really didn't want to go through that again.
Johan also knew the plot a bit, but even though Radhaan was one of the main antagonists, the developers still didn't reveal how he got this contract. But what was funny to Johan was—both Devils and Dragons were kind of the same race.
'It's like the difference between a golden retriever and a German shepherd. All that's different is their features...' Johan thought, amazed at the face Lucifer was making.
"Anyways, why did you call me here... isn't this the place where Acier and others are locked?" Radhaan asked impatiently. His favourite hobby was waiting for him—killing—and he didn't really want to waste any more time than he already had.
"I believe someone is targeting us, and that person is as strong, if not stronger than us..." Leor said with a mysterious tone, his brows knitting together.
Radhaan's eyes widened, while Lucifer just scoffed, "I am limitless. Strength is irrelevant to me. And what is even the basis of your claim? My Kratos can sense all and any threats to me—be it in the future or present—it would've already attacked the person you're mentioning without any prompts." Lucifer's tone only grew more suspicious by the second.
Radhaan also seemed to gain a bit of confidence after that, "Dragon kin can peek into the future the same way as Kratos. Neither Raymond nor Lord Indra said anything related to this, and I don't think they would hide something so important from me..."
His reasoning was sound. Raymond was like Radhaan's closest thing to family, and both were each other's greatest benefactors. There was no way he wouldn't see it, as he was one of the best divination masters in the entire dragon race.
Leor gently shook his head, "I'm just giving you two a warning... I care for your lives, and my life. Just be more cautious. Also, it's best if we stay close to each other from now on..." he said in a vague, dazed tone.

Leor barely smiled at these notifications, something else deeply troubling his mind.
Johan's frown deepened. He wasn't happy that his arch-nemesis was feeling down, but it only made him more anxious. fгeewebnovёl.com
If something could threaten this guy, it could definitely threaten me and my friends... but this is a matter to investigate later. Leor's being extremely vague...
Suddenly, a purple gem on Leor's white linen shirt glowed violently, a loud yell coming from it, "Leorr, someone is attacking the royal palace again! They're destroying buildings while yelling Shinra Tensei! I think they're crazy..."
Leor, Radhaan, and Lucifer's faces lost all colour. Leor had just mentioned an unpredictable, extremely powerful threat, and now... even they felt uncomfortable.
Leor's eyes definitely seemed to be filled with more shock than anyone else—a reference that no one else should make besides him and Johan, as that language didn't even exist in this world...
Johan's expression calmed, his lips curling up in a soft grin.
"Don't engage. I am coming there as soon as possible, Zack!" Leor said as calmly as possible, but some panic still escaped. All three instantly disappeared into thin air, as if they were never even there.
'Ohh, Zack... if I remember correctly, he's one of Leor's classmates. The cliché friend of the protagonist making corny jokes all day. I wonder how the other main characters are doing...'
Suddenly, Johan felt a sting in his heart. He was supposed to be in a fantasy world—enjoying his life, getting overpowered, and flexing in front of his favourite characters.
Johan sighed, 'This is my reality now, I guess. The reality of being Johan von Matilda... I can just carry James's dreams, to one day achieve them too...'
With that thought, he felt a little bit optimistic. He was living in a kind of fantasy. He never touched a woman in his past life, and now he had two. Even though they were a bit crazy, they still had a vagina, and were legitimate women.
Johan laughed to himself, suddenly standing up in the present world, startling the three people guarding him, making them turn to look at him with probing looks.
"Johan... is everything okay?" Sebastian asked with a serious face. If the plan worked, they could enter the dungeon now.
"Yes, let's leave now! It's gonna be horrible, so prepare yourselves..." Johan chuckled, remembering the dungeon they were about to enter.
