I am the Clone of a Death Row Inmate-Chapter 127 - 125: Absorbing the Gravity Demon Extract
Su Ze had poked several holes in the Gravity Demonβs head, but it looked completely fine. ππ£π²ππ¨π²ππ»πΌπ―π²π.π°ππ¦
However, their assault did have an effect. Mr. Ya had managed to spread a lot of poison, and the Gravity Demonβs back was now rapidly rotting.
After the Gravity Demon recovered, it frantically began devouring its own tail. It swallowed deeper and deeper until nearly half its body was in its stomach, then it bit clean through its own torso!
The next moment, a powerful life energy burst from within its body. The wound from the severed tail healed instantly, and the puncture wounds from Su Zeβs attack were also closing at a visible rate.
The only thing it seemed unable to completely purge was the poison in its system, but it did manage to halt the poisonβs spread.
βIt actually has a healing skill!β
Su Ze was astonished. βA healing skill where it eats itself? Iβve never seen anything like it.β
βIf a human evolver mastered this, how would they even use it?β
And just like that, the Gravity Demonβs wounds were healed, though it was now smaller. But its reduced size didnβt seem to affect its combat strength at all. If anything, it became even more agile.
The Gravity Demon charged toward the pair. Even though it had no eyes, not even a face, Su Ze could feel its rage. With a single bound, it landed right in front of them.
Mr. Ya had no intention of fighting it head-on. He grabbed Su Ze and instantly burrowed to the other end of the tunnel.
But the Gravity Demon immediately unleashed its gravitational power, causing the entire tunnel to tremble. A huge section of earth and rock from the ceiling came crashing down on them.
Mr. Ya instantly pulled Su Ze underground again, narrowly avoiding being crushed. But the moment they resurfaced, a Gravity Chain slammed them back down.
"What should we do now?"
The two conferred, trying to come up with a new plan. The Gravity Demonβs healing skill had completely blindsided them, throwing their entire strategy into disarray.
They took stock of their remaining options and came to a frustrating conclusion: they still had to rely on poison.
Without it, they had no chance of winning.
"That self-devouring move... the Gravity Demon canβt possibly use it again so soon. Besides, thereβs still a lot of poison built up in its system that it couldnβt fully purge. If we can just trigger that poison again, we should be able to wear it down and kill it!"
It was only then that Su Ze realized just how difficult it was to fight a foe beyond his level, even for him. He was confident he could handle an ordinary low-level, Tier 3 beast, but taking on a Tier 3, S-class monster like this was pushing his limits.
The main problem was that even though he was at the Cocoon Stage and Mr. Ya was at the Butterfly Stage, neither of them had absorbed an extract since evolving. It meant they lacked powerful skills commensurate with their evolutionary stage, which was why they were on the back foot.
Still, they had come this far. As long as there was a sliver of hope, they would see their plan through. They would try to take down the Gravity Demon by working together.
The pair reappeared before the Gravity Demon. This time, Mr. Ya deliberately left an opening. He was snared by a Gravity Chain and yanked toward the monsterβs massive maw.
Mr. Ya whipped out a handful of multicolored poisons and shoved them all into the Gravity Demonβs mouth. He then immediately used his Steel Cocoon skill, enveloping himself in a golden chrysalis and bursting free to escape.
The various poisons detonated inside the Gravity Demonβs mouth, instantly turning its head a deathly, ashen gray. The toxins began to spread throughout its entire body.
The Gravity Demon let out a hellish shriek and began to thrash violently on the ground. The entire tunnel shook, threatening to collapse at any moment.
After escaping, Mr. Ya immediately burrowed back to the Gravity Demonβs side with Su Ze. Su Ze once again used his Furious Waves skill, plunging the frenzied monster into a brief state of Dizziness and momentarily calming it.
He leaped onto the Gravity Demonβs back, where the toxins were most concentrated. Multicolored fluids were visible beneath the skin, held in check only by the monsterβs healing ability.
Su Ze circled the afflicted area and, activating his Ant Power, began to pummel it relentlessly. His blows helped the multicolored toxins break through the internal barriers and spread outward.
As the Gravity Demon came to, Mr. Ya grabbed Su Ze and burrowed away.
This time, they hid inside the Attracting Stone Ore itself, silently watching the Gravity Demon go berserk. With the poison now flaring up in both its head and back, the creature could clearly no longer contain it. It began ramming wildly into the walls, causing sections of the tunnel to collapse all around.
Su Ze and Mr. Ya were in no rush. They simply waited, letting the Gravity Demon exhaust its strength and grow weak from the torment of the poison before they would strike again.
Whenever the Gravity Demon paused its rampage, Mr. Ya and Su Ze would burrow back into the collapsed tunnel to harass it. Theyβd bleed it a little, apply some more βmedicine,β and keep at it until the monster flew into another rage, at which point they would retreat.
The Gravity Demon tried to escapeβit was an expert burrower, after allβbut wherever it went, Mr. Ya followed.
And so began a contest of endurance between Su Ze, Mr. Ya, and the Gravity Demon.
Down in the pitch-black darkness, time became meaningless. Enough passed for Su Zeβs stomach to start growling before the Gravity Demon finally collapsed.
It wasnβt dead, just lying limp in the dirt, completely motionless. Even as Su Ze and Mr. Ya stood before it, the beast lacked the strength to even open its mouth and bare its fangs.
Smiles spread across both Su Zeβs and Mr. Yaβs faces. It was the profound satisfaction that comes only after immense effort yields its reward.
βTime to end this monsterβs wretched life!β
Su Ze took out his portable extractor, plunged it forcefully into the Gravity Demonβs body, and flipped the switch to begin the extraction.
Throughout the process, Su Ze and Mr. Ya remained on high alert, wary of any last, desperate attack from the dying beast.
Fortunately, the Gravity Demon accepted its death quietly. It went peacefully.
Su Ze removed the glowing yellow extract from the device, his heart swelling with joy.
βI finally have it!β
This vial of extract, the one he had yearned for, contained the Gravity Dust Sand skill he so desperately wanted.
This vial of extract had cost Su Ze a small fortune.
First, he had spent ten thousand Evolutionary Technology Points on intel, followed by another ten thousand Dongli Kingdom contribution points on the Tier 3 poison. Those two expenses alone were worth two hundred million.
Second, since he and Mr. Ya had hunted the Gravity Demon together, the spoils belonged to them both. From the start, Su Ze had insisted on paying Mr. Ya half of its market value.
Despite Mr. Yaβs repeated refusals, Su Ze insisted. In the end, they based the price on a standard Tier 3, S-class extract. Su Ze paid Mr. Ya 150,000 Evolutionary Technology Points, a sum equivalent to 1.5 billion Lin currency.
Su Ze and Mr. Ya were close, but even best friends need to keep their finances clear. This wasnβt a one-off deal; they would likely be partners for a long time to come.
Besides, Mr. Ya had just completed his third evolution and needed to save up for his own extracts. Tier 4 extracts were certainly not cheap!
But no matter how you sliced it, for Su Ze to obtain the Gravity Demon Extract for less than two billion was an absolute steal.
Commissioning the hunt through Evolutionary Technology would have cost him points equivalent to eight billion!
Su Ze clutched the extract. "Iβll just absorb it here," he said. "If I take it to the surface, someone might see it and get greedy."
There were plenty of treasure hunters up in the Thousand Heroes Tomb, especially that notorious bunch from the Lin Hua Noble Academy. To avoid any trouble, Su Ze decided it was best to absorb it right here and now.
Mr. Ya was taken aback. He knew Su Ze had a Flying Skill. βHe must have already absorbed an extract that granted him flight,β Mr. Ya thought. βHe shouldnβt have fully processed it yet. He canβt possibly absorb a second one so soon.β
βCould he have processed the first extract already?β Mr. Ya wondered, but he didnβt dwell on it. He simply nodded, telling Su Ze to go ahead and absorb it. He would stand guard.
Su Ze had successfully absorbed a Tier 3, S-class Black-bellied Flood Dragon Extract back when he was only at the Pupa Stage. Now that he was at the Cocoon Stage, absorbing the Gravity Demon Extractβanother Tier 3, S-classβwould be no problem at all.
Su Ze tilted his head back, opened his mouth, and downed the Gravity Demon Extract in one go. Immediately, his eyes narrowed, his entire face scrunched up, and he looked like he was about to start drooling.
SOUR!
Indescribably so!
This vial of extract was a hundred times more sour than anything Su Ze had ever tasted. It was so sour he completely lost control of his facial muscles.
βJust my luck. So much for finding one of those legendary sweet-tasting extracts!β
