Chapter 123: Chapter 122: Honey Pot Ant 2

Long-term consumption of Evolution Honey Water can increase the success rate of evolution for human evolvers.

The higher a Honey Pot Ant’s evolution level, the more effective its Evolution Honey Water.

Mr. Fang said, "In the Honey Pot Ant nest we just found, there’s a third-order Honey Pot Ant!"

Everyone was shocked to hear this.

It’s inherently difficult for creatures like Honey Pot Ants to evolve into high-order mutated beasts. Consequently, first-order Honey Pot Ants are the most common, while second-order ones are already a rare sight.

The Evolution Honey Water from a first-order Honey Pot Ant is only average in effect. It’s only useful for those in the Pupa Stage or who are Mortal-level Life Forms. However, evolution during these two stages isn’t particularly difficult to begin with. Anyone with slightly above-average talent wouldn’t even need first-order Evolution Honey Water.

That’s why the price of first-order Evolution Honey Water on the market isn’t exorbitant.

Second-order Evolution Honey Water is already very expensive. As for third-order, it’s something money can’t buy. After all, it’s a miracle elixir that can help a Butterfly Stage evolver break through to the Saint-level.

You can almost never find third-order Evolution Honey Water on the market. The substance is extremely rare to begin with, yet demand is high. On the rare occasion someone gets their hands on it, they’ll likely keep it for themselves.

If Mr. Fang and his team discovered a third-order Honey Pot Ant, and if they managed to get its Evolution Honey Water, they would absolutely make a fortune!

An instructor said to Mr. Fang, "Honey Pot Ants have average combat strength. Even a third-order one should be manageable for a team with your capabilities."

Mr. Fang nodded. "That’s what I thought, too. But the swarm was enormous, and there were a ton of second-order Honey Pot Ants. We set a trap beforehand. Our plan was to lure the third-order ant into it and use the terrain to build barriers, blocking the other second-order ants so they couldn’t reinforce it right away."

"We were aiming for a quick fight. The goal was to kill the third-order Honey Pot Ant as fast as possible, grab the loot, and get out. We had no intention of fighting the entire swarm. But we never expected that just as we were about to kill the third-order ant, a group of people would charge into the nest and destroy our barriers. They didn’t attack us directly, but they got us surrounded by a swarm of second-order ants. We lost half our people just breaking out of the encirclement!"

Clearly, these people were just waiting to swoop in and steal the prize. Seeing that Mr. Fang and his team were about to kill the third-order Honey Pot Ant, they showed up to cause chaos, forcing them to retreat so they could reap all the rewards for themselves.

Pei Wuhua frowned, asking, "Do you know the background of those people?"

Mr. Fang replied, "A group of students and a few teachers. They were here for military training, just like you. Based on the name on their school uniforms, they’re from Lin Hua Noble Academy."

’So they’re from the Sovereign Country, Lin Hua. No wonder they’re so brazen...’ Su Ze had heard how arrogant and conceited some people from Lin Hua Country could be. In their eyes, the entire population of the Lin Hua Continent was divided into just two groups: the people of Lin Hua, and outsiders.

’Some of them have a condescending sense of superiority, seeing themselves as a "higher class of people." They look down on, or are completely indifferent to, the people of the Six Kingdoms—indifferent to everything about them, from their dignity to their very lives.’

’Take the people who got Mr. Fang’s teammates killed, for instance. They probably don’t feel the slightest bit of guilt. They might have even found it entertaining.’

"Lin Hua Noble Academy... Mr. Pei, do you know anything about them?" Su Ze asked, turning to Pei Wuhua.

Su Ze knew very little about Lin Hua Country.

Pei Wuhua nodded. "Lin Hua Country has many institutions of higher learning, and in terms of overall strength, every single one of them surpasses our Dongli University. While Lin Hua Noble Academy isn’t the strongest among them, it’s still quite famous. As you can probably guess from the name, the students who get in all come from wealthy or noble families."

Another instructor added, "Lin Hua Noble Academy comes to the Blood Earth Forest for military training every year. This isn’t the first time something like this has happened. But they have a small student body, and each group is protected by powerful evolvers. Even when they cause trouble, there’s nothing anyone can do about it."

Dongli Kingdom and Lin Hua Country are right next to each other, and both share a border with the Blood Earth Forest, so it’s perfectly normal to run into people from Lin Hua Country here.

A few of the instructors patted Mr. Fang’s shoulder comfortingly. "We’ll report this for you. Don’t dwell on it too much. Just go back and focus on recovering."

They said that, but all the instructors knew that reporting it would be useless.

Those students from the Lin Hua Noble Academy all had powerful backgrounds. Furthermore, they hadn’t directly attacked Mr. Fang’s group. Even if the matter were escalated to the authorities in Lin Hua Country, it would simply be swept under the rug.

With heavy hearts, Mr. Fang and his men nodded. They said their goodbyes and started walking toward Fengshui Pass.

Hunters like them had no powerful backing. After suffering a loss at the hands of the young masters and mistresses from Lin Hua Country, all they could do was swallow their anger and accept it.

After what happened to Mr. Fang, the freshmen from Dongli Kingdom had a much clearer understanding of why their instructors had warned them to "be wary of people!"

Mr. Fang’s team was battle-hardened. They hadn’t fallen to the claws and fangs of mutated beasts, yet half their squad was wiped out by a group of strangers with whom they had no grudge.

...

The Dongli University military training group continued its march deeper into the Blood Earth Forest.

Along the way, they encountered a few weak mutated beasts. The instructors captured them to use as live teaching aids, demonstrating on the spot how to fight them.

The deeper they went, the more numerous the trees and the denser the vegetation became. Mutated beasts also appeared more frequently. However, the Blood Earth Forest was enormous; even after walking for half a day, they were still only in its outer regions.

When dusk fell, they reached a clearing in the forest. The instructors stopped and told them to make camp on the spot.

Some of the girls pitched tents. Others, like Su Ze, simply found a reasonably clean patch of ground to use as a bed.

The students started fires, roasting and eating the meat of the mutated beasts they’d hunted on their journey. Some had also brought their own food.

As Su Ze was munching on a roasted rabbit leg that a female classmate had handed him, one of the instructors stepped before the group and announced:

"We’ve covered most of the theory today. Tomorrow, we’ll test your practical combat skills. You’ll form your own teams of twenty. Your mission will be to hunt three first-order mutated beasts."

The area fell silent. Many of the freshmen exchanged glances, their eyes filled with worry and panic.

Out of the six or seven hundred freshmen, fewer than a hundred had completed their first evolution. The rest were Mortal-level Life Forms who had only absorbed two or three vials of extract.

They were inevitably terrified at the prospect of facing first-order mutated beasts.

Many students cast pleading glances toward the freshmen who had reached the Pupa Stage. If they could just team up with a few of them, the mission would become much easier.

Of course, even more people looked toward Su Ze.

Su Ze was at the Cocoon Stage, stronger even than Yu Feng from the master class. Teaming up with Su Ze meant they could complete the mission effortlessly.

Of course, Mr. Pei wasn’t about to let them exploit that loophole. He announced, "Su Ze and Yargha will not be participating in the group teams. The two of you will partner up. Your mission will be complete once you’ve hunted two second-order mutated beasts."

Su Ze threw his hands up in full support. He had no desire to lead a bunch of newbies around to bully first-order mutated beasts anyway.

Besides, this gave him the perfect excuse to take Mr. Ya and break off from the main group to go Hunting the Gravity Demon.

That night, several instructors stayed awake, patrolling the perimeter of the camp.

The freshmen, exhausted from walking all day, were sound asleep. A chorus of snores rose and fell throughout the camp.

Su Ze was lying on a large rock, gazing up at the starry sky. It wasn’t that he particularly wanted to watch the stars; it was just that a few guys were snoring so loudly and with such piercing volume that he couldn’t stand it.

Mr. Ya had already slipped away somewhere to practice his Swan Dance, so Su Ze didn’t even have anyone to talk to.

Just then, the flap of a nearby tent was pulled aside. A female classmate poked her head out and asked in a suggestive tone, "Su Ze, want to come in and sleep with me?"

’Are girls these days all this bold?’ Su Ze thought. ’Well, I can’t look like a coward. A man has to rise to the occasion!’

He immediately got up to crawl into the tent, asking as he went, "Can you promise to be quiet?"

The female classmate giggled. "What are you thinking? I was just worried you wouldn’t get a good night’s sleep out here, so I was inviting you in. I have two sleeping bags."

"In that case, never mind," Su Ze replied, refusing flatly.

’What kind of man could possibly resist a test like that?’

Just then, a figure popped up next to Su Ze as if out of thin air, giving him a start.

A closer look revealed it was Mr. Ya.

Mr. Ya lowered his voice, but he couldn’t hide the excitement in it. "Boss, my evolution was a success!"
