I Am Not A Goblin Slayer-Chapter 200 - 180: Spider Demon
Gauss now has an excellent memory.
He is certain that the passages around him are not the same as when he came in.
For instance, the corner that is swiftly passing by did not exist before.
Has the terrain been altered?
Of course, what makes him uneasy is that he’s not quite sure where Aaliyah is now.
Could they have been separated?
In the mental map in his mind, the direction he’s now moving through differs greatly from when he entered.
Of course, he doesn’t dare stop, as the pale guard is still rapidly pursuing him.
Moreover, Gauss can clearly feel that the opponent’s physical condition seems to be gradually improving.
Like a creature that had been hibernating for a long time, its organs and body functions are quickly awakening.
He must lose it quickly.
Feeling the fierce wind approaching closely behind him.
Gauss turns around again, taking on another of its strikes.
"Clang!"
After blocking another attack, Gauss’s arms are somewhat numb. 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶
Were it not for his great strength, along with his already considerable power and constitution, coupled with the protection of the Gauss Force Field preventing recoil damage, it would be more than just numbness; his arms might be nearly useless by now.
One must admit, humans are often at a disadvantage physically when facing many demons.
Often, bigger means stronger!
At the same time, beauty often suggests strength!
When the pale guard first appeared, it made a formidable impression.
And indeed, its strength matches its appearance.
Aside from its initial sneak attack, Gauss didn’t dare to confront it head-on in subsequent clashes, instead employing skillful techniques to dissolve its impacts.
"Tap, tap, tap!"
Urgent footsteps echoed through the passage.
"Huff! Huff!" Gauss gasped for breath.
Though less than a minute passed just now, the physical exertion was immense.
"Its activity range is actually this wide?" He looked back, feeling uneasy about the pale guard relentlessly tailing him.
He initially thought the puppet-like opponent might be confined to a small area, but it appears that’s not the case.
"Boom!"
Gauss was flung like a tossed stone into a completely unfamiliar, empty room.
He barely had time to catch his breath, immediately rolling to unload force, simultaneously scanning his surroundings quickly.
"A dead end?"
Initial observations suggest that this room has no exit.
More unnerving was that the entire room was shrouded under a massive, sticky white web.
These webs were not ordinary filaments caught in bushes but thick strands like ropes, layered from the ceiling to the walls to the floor, an overwhelming net.
Hanging in the webs were a multitude of old, ash-white egg sacs, nearly bone-colored.
Some sacs had ruptured and hatched, while others appeared full and swollen, exuding powerful life force, as if the life within could emerge at any moment.
"Is this the nest of that spider-like creature from earlier?"
Turning his head towards the passage entrance.
The pale spider figure that had been chasing Gauss had now stopped, guarding the entrance into which he had been hurled.
That was the only exit from this nest.
Do they believe I’m trapped now? Gauss pondered the opponent’s behavior pattern.
This gave him a slight relief, using this chance to adjust his turbulent magic power and breathing rhythm.
Reflecting back, the spider-like creature’s behavior was indeed bizarre, as if deliberately driving him into this nesting space.
But, this actually suited his plan.
A Teleportation Scroll quietly appeared from the wide sleeve of Gauss’s robe.
Though cornered, he still had a way to escape.
Previously he hadn’t used it partly to be economical, but more importantly, there wasn’t an opportunity to use it.
Activating the Teleportation Scroll also requires some time, albeit short.
The prior urgency left no room for its use.
"Swish, swish!"
Just as Gauss was about to infuse his magic power into the scroll.
Rustling noises suddenly arose behind the chaotic white threads at a distance.
Gauss instinctively cast his gaze there.
Three "smaller" pale spider-people of varying sizes emerged from within.
Of course, these smaller ones were only so in comparison to the adult that had driven him here.
In reality, the smallest one was about the size of a strong adult human, with the largest reaching a height of about 2.3 meters.
Are these the juveniles of the same species?
Maybe they’re its children? Or perhaps siblings?
Unlike the adult’s strange otherworldly beauty, the three smaller pale creatures had only vaguely humanoid upper bodies.
Their faces were indistinct, smeared with sticky white silk, appearing terrifying. The strands covered what should have been their faces like melted wax.
It was as if children’s playdough, not yet firm, resulting in a discomforting sense of distortion.
Gauss quickly understood much.
The pursuit was to lead him to these three pale creatures.
As for why he’s been driven here alive rather than killed—could it be to feed them fresh flesh? Or is there another reason requiring them to handle it themselves?
The three small pale beings leaned out, fixing their gaze on Gauss, their eyes filled with a direct, eager hunger, unlike the adult.
Gauss glanced at the motionless adult blocking the entrance.
Silently moving deeper into the nest, creating more distance from the adult.
This way, if he wants to leave, he’ll have more time.
The adult either didn’t notice his intentions, or assuming it had blocked the only escape route, wasn’t worried at all.
"Huff—"
Gauss looked at the three small pale beings quickly approaching him.
The gaze showed some hesitation.
These three small creatures presented a lesser threat.
Judging by speed of their movement, they perhaps reached the standard of elite demons but were far from strong, especially compared to the adult.
Why doesn’t it assist them?
Does it believe these three are enough to handle me? Or is there a reason preventing it from acting?
Gauss puzzled.
But this situation was also beneficial to him.
He believed he could take down the weakest one among them without much trouble.
Elite Path Stage 2: Defeat 5 types of elite demons (4/5).
As he pondered, the three small beings crawled out from the web, swiftly closing in on his position.
Gauss took one last glance at the adult.
If it didn’t intervene, he would truly have to take action.
From his Storage Pouch, he drew out the slender White Bone Staff.
Gauss ignored the two largest ones, focusing entirely on the smallest one at the back.
Having made up his mind, he would naturally target the easiest opponent.
After all, he only needed one more to meet his stage goal.
He quietly gathered magic power, waiting for them to come.
Meanwhile, planning in his mind that once he took one down, he would immediately activate the Teleportation Scroll.
