I Am Genie-Chapter 48: Still Gotta Do Math Even In Another World
Michael knew his system was very useful. Even though its abilities were usually extremely limited because it didn’t want him to depend on it, if it said it would help, then it really could help.
[System analyzing...]
[Successfully designed a feasible plan for you, sir. This plan has two main things you need to do.]
[The first thing is to lower the ’quality’ of the domain. You can compare this to you playing a game on the lowest graphics settings. The domain’s range cannot be changed, but what you ’see’ inside it can be adjusted to fit your current capabilities.]
This kind of explanation was the first time Michael had heard it, but thinking about it, it made sense. Right now his brain was just like a computer without a GPU, lowering the graphics to make the game run smoother was also a good choice.
Besides, lowering the image quality a bit was fine. As long as the important details weren’t missed, it was okay, because in a fight he don’t really need to see those small things so clearly.
’So what’s the second thing?’
He understood the first thing, so he was even more curious about what the second thing was. Could it be some method to help his brain calculate faster?
[The second thing you need to do is practice solving problems quickly and doing many different kinds of work at the same time.]
[For solving problems quickly, you can consider performing calculations or solving some simple equations in a short time. Of course, when doing it, don’t use scratch paper, only use your brain to increase computational ability.]
???
No way, bro? I ran off to this continent and I still have to do math? I can’t remember how long it’s been since I last studied this subject.
Michael wasn’t a math genius but he wasn’t bad either, school math for him was still considered good results. He just found it a bit weird that he was already a genie and had even come to another world but still had to do math, and a lot of it at that.
’Are you sure doing these things will succeed? By doing math continuously and doing many things at the same time, can my brain really develop to that level?’
It wasn’t that he didn’t want to trust the system, but it was very different from what he knew on Earth. Human imagination is limitless but the brain’s calculation speed is limited.
No matter how hard you try, the result is still far behind mindless machinery. Even though the brain can develop, it can’t be exaggerated to that extent.
[I understand your concern, but I affirm it will definitely succeed. This world has a specific type of energy as you already know. If you let your brain constantly challenge its limits regarding calculation speed, that energy in nature will come to assist your brain in developing to the calculation speed you experienced in the consciousness world.]
Hearing this, Michael then felt the feasibility of these two plans was high. This world, after all, wasn’t Earth. With that versatile energy assisting, many extraordinary things could be done.
While he was zoning out to think and communicate with the system, a ’friendly’ panda hand slapped his face again.
"Have you really turned into an idiot? You just woke up, why are you spacing out again?"
"You bastard! Why did you hit me again?"
Michael cursed loudly, his transformed face which was originally fierce now became even more fierce by multiple times. He was thinking about something so important yet got interrupted by a fool.
"You bastard, you still have the face to curse at me? How many minutes has it been just now? Look again at how many times you’ve turned into an idiot. If there’s something, you have to explain it clearly to me."
Leo gave Michael no face and scolded him right back. While doing something important, Michael kept becoming a moron over and over, making him extremely impatient.
"Fine then, let me explain. Using domain expansion earlier was different from when I was in the consciousness space. There, I used the trial version of Cook God’s senses so I could use it easily, but now I don’t have the ability to use this ultimate technique." 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺
"Huh? What the hell is the reason?"
Leo felt extremely doubtful. A skill that can’t be used, logically speaking, shouldn’t be able to be activated in the first place. But clearly, a moment ago, he sensed the space around him had changed a bit.
"Because our brains’ calculation speed isn’t fast enough. I just thought of two methods, and we need to practice simultaneously to be able to use the domain."
"Oh, what methods?"
Leo asked with great interest. If someone goes ahead to scout the path and even finds the answer, then there’s no reason not to listen.
"There are two. The first is to reduce the domain’s ’seeing’ ability, we don’t need to see everything in excessive detail because that would require too much effort for little gain. The second is to do math and do many things at the same time."
Michael explained seriously, showing the seriousness of this issue. He didn’t want Leo to think he was joking and take it lightly, after all, this was assistance provided by the system.
"Math? Seriously?"
Hearing this, Leo was dumbfounded. A guy who didn’t get an education from childhood like him, how would he know how to do math? Later, although he learned to read and studied some books, math was just knowing some basic calculations used at the market.
Michael saw Leo’s increasingly dumbfounded expression and understood. After all, Leo wasn’t from a place with nine years of compulsory education like him.
"Don’t worry, it’s not too hard. I’ll teach you. You’re so smart, you’ll probably finish learning very quickly."
"That works too. So does our training schedule change now? Learn math first?"
Leo nodded in reply. He felt what Michael said was very reasonable. Before, when he learned calculation, it didn’t seem too hard, it’s just that he was in charge of combat so he didn’t have much time for it.
"That’s right. Let’s start right now. Forget about books and stuff, just writing on the ground is fine. Ah, don’t transform back to human form, it’ll waste less time."
Just like that, the two of them accidentally switched from experimenting with domain expansion to learning math.
