I Am An Illegitimate Child With A Legitimate Reason For Revenge-Chapter 100: Really, did something happen to White?
That day, Raymond felt his heart run a marathon. π§πβ―ππππππ°π·π¦π.πΈβ΄π
The way she trembled on the floor... It made him feel like he was some sort of monster. How could he have been so oblivious?
Patiently yet anxiously, he waited for her to calm down and once she had recollected herself, he immediately took her to Steve who reminded him that he shouldβve talked her into visiting a psychologist.
"This couldβve been avoided if you had just gone to the psychologist." He queried but that only made Raymond feel worse.
"I didnβt know it would be this bad. I..." His words hung on his throat. He had no excuse for his negligence.
Ariel looked at them and wondered. She was treated far worse than this in the past and while growing up but she was never left traumatized. This time... What was the real reason for her trauma? Was it that her body couldnβt handle the beating and sexual activities the twins inflicted on her?
She couldnβt tell. But that wasnβt important any more. All she had to do was focus on recovering.
Now with regular visits from Paige and a warm and friendly environment, Ariel was feeling much better. She was relaxed and calm.
Yet, there was something she found odd. A familiar face she saw on a daily basis had suddenly disappeared and his name had never been brought up, not even once.
"Ray." She called out, joyously waving her arms in the air as Raymond alighted from his helicopter and approached the building.
The helicopter made its way back to where it came from and Raymond hugged Ariel. She glanced behind him at the helicopter which was slowly getting out of sight.
βHe didnβt come today either.βshe thought and broke the hug with Raymond.
"Did you miss me?" He asked and she nodded.
"Yes."
He visited her once in two days because of the work he had to handle and all the turbulence. Still, the time they spent apart was not painful since his visit was frequent.
"Have you eaten?" Raymond asked and she shook her head. "How come? Were you waiting for me?"
"You promised to eat dinner with me tonight." She said, pumping her cheeks and he laughed.
"Yes, I did." He stroked her hair. "Come, letβs go inside."
He held her hand and started heading for the door but strangely, Ariel halted in her steps while looking straight at him. Her strange and silent stare confused Raymond and he asked,
"Whatβs wrong?"
"Well, itβs been a while and I noticed White doesnβt walk with you anymore." She said and Raymond almost flinched. "What happened to White? Did he go somewhere?"
Raymond stayed silent. This topic... He didnβt want to talk about it.
"Ariel, can we not talk about that for now?" He asked and tried to smile but she could see a sense of sadness in his smile.
"Why? Did something happen to him?" She insisted on knowing and Raymond clenched his teeth.
Ariel grabbed the edge of his coat and looked worriedly at him.
"Really, did something happen to White? Why arenβt you saying anything? Iβm getting worried."
A sad sigh escaped Raymondβs lips, followed by a little hiss sound.
He couldnβt get it. No matter how much he tried to think about it, he just couldnβt get why White did that.
White refused to disclose the reason why he betrayed him and threw Ariel at the twins.
Raymond had him lashed, hoping that with the torture, he would disclose why he did that but he refused to spill even a single word and received the lashings with gritted teeth.
Ariel had been good to him, hadnβt she? They didnβt fight, not once and she even smiled at him on many occasions so why... Why did he do that?
"Ray!" Ariel called and he looked down at her.
She was worried. Ariel was worried for the bastard who sold her out and made her go through hell. Would she still worry after finding out that he was behind everything?
"Ariel." Raymond called and dropped his hands on her shoulders, bowing his head in fear that she would see right through him. "White is alive." He said. "I have him locked up."
Stunned, Ariel parted her lips to speak but for some reason, words couldnβt come out of her mouth.
Her grip on Raymondβs coat tightened and her hands trembled softly.
She suddenly remembered that day at the Steinβs manor when the twins had her in their grasp. That day, did he really see her? He saw her and yet he acted like he didnβt see her.
She wanted to get angry, wanted to scream and wanted to tear up at the same time but none of it came down. She couldnβt get angry, she couldnβt scream and she couldnβt cry either.
"Where...?" She asked, her voice struggling to come out. "Where is he? I want to see him."
"Donβt meet with him, Ariel. Please. Donβt meet with him." He begged her.
"Why?" She asked him. "I want to know why he did it so why canβt I see him?"
"He wonβt talk." Raymond said, shaking his head. "He wonβt say anything and Iβm afraid that he holds some sort of hostility towards you."
"That canβt be the case." Ariel said. "I didnβt feel anything. He doesnβt hate me."
"Ariel."
"And that is why I have to ask him myself. I want to know why he did it." She concluded.
Raymond stared at her with furrowed, restless eyebrows and with eyes that couldnβt stop worrying.
"Ariel." He called softly but she wasnβt going to take back her words.
White... The reason he betrayed Raymond... The reason he did that to her... She wanted to hear it all come from him.
Defeated, Raymond nodded his head and said,
"Alright." He touched her hair and added with a sad smile, "Iβll let you meet him. But if anything seems off with him, I will immediately take you away and you will never see him again."
She held his hand and smiled. Confidently, she said to him,
"Donβt worry, nothingβs going to happen."
